In Drake's case i think Babcock just wants to get him a game in. There was already an article saying Drake had fallen below Ellis and Downey on the depth...but obviously he's not going to sit every single game.

Great trade! Gorkys Hernandez was expendable because of Maybin, and Jurrjens although he looked good...was never regarded as a sure fire prospect. The fact that he came up and pitched good in a few starts increased his value significantly. With Porcello entering the system having signed a major league contract, he will be on the brink of the majors in 2 years. Miller will be great, dont let the bumps fool you. We're fine in the pitching department without Jair. They said before that they'd like to leave the 5th spot open for whatever young guy grabs it in the spring. I fully expect it to be between Miller and Bazardo. If Miller looks good, he'll get it. Bazardo would more-so be the fall back plan. Of course you never know who else could just sneak up and grab it, like a Dallas Trahern.

Eli Manning vs Lions D = Turnover parade Sure Kitna will probably get sacked a bunch, but Eli has always been very turnover prone and thats what the success of our D hinges on. I expect a sloppy 14-10 type game with the Lions on top.

*WHEN* the Lions hit the 10 win mark and Kitna hits his prediction that will be the greatest moment in the history of my Lions fanship. To see him criticized nationwide as being nuts, and to be able to stick it to everyone will be awesome. The Arizona game definitely scares me, if Boldin and Fitzgerald are both in the lineup i cant really see us taking that one. But at home against Denver and the G-men are so winnable i'll be extremely confident going in. That would make us 7-3 going into Thanksgiving. And who knows with GB, they could be reeling coming in. Having no RB has got to hurt them eventually. A win on turkey day and we could have a stranglehold on the division. Am i getting ahead of myself here? Yes...but i dont care!!

I know what you're saying but in this case, Iginla actually was the enforcer on the Flames team. I dont recall if Phaneuf was gone cause of the Bertuzzi fight, but if so Iginla was the toughest guy in their lineup. I have a feeling there was a reason he went after Schneider, and it wasnt being a poor sport. The one other time he went with a non-fighter at the end of a game was Mattias Ohlund, and that was retribultion for a hit from behind. Other than that, he's fought Derian Hatcher, Lecavalier, and Beauchemin in the playoffs. All of these guys can handle themselves. He's not a cheap bully who targets non-fighters. As for Joe T, I think people are totally overblowing what really were minor hacks. Its part of the game.

Even if theyre ragging on it, them showing the fight is still good pub for the NHL. I can guarantee the viewers werent appalled over it. If anybody asked these guys if they'd start watching hockey if fighting were eliminated, theyre answer would be no. So who cares what they think.

Are there still those blackouts like the free preview had? There were always other non-Wings games that were blacked out for whatever reason. I can understand the local team not being shown on there, but why blackouts for other teams? If its still like that then screw it, im not spending 169 bucks only to find out the game i wanna watch isnt being shown.

I somehow managed to get 9 right yesterday to make up for the 0'fer i put up Friday. And as i expected, the 2 games i was too late to pick on Friday i wouldve lost anyway! Theres 3 teams im having serious issues with in picking their games,..the Rangers, Penguins, and Canadians. I must be a combined 1 for 20 or something!

I honestly think it has everything to do with the fact that the Wings dont do that. When is the last time they ever initiated something when an outcome was decided? I cant think of any. So when they see other teams do this, its those players being dirty and "gooning it up". What alot of people dont get is that the Wings are the EXCEPTION! Theres a reason fight lovers always hit their record button when a game becomes a blowout....stuff like this has gone on forever.

Nobody should be sent down though even when Franzen comes back, wouldnt this just give them the same amount of skaters they had at the start of the season? Theyre actually 1 short right now with Franzen on IR. Or was somebody hurt at the start of the year and im missing something?

I dont want to see Downey lose his spot unless its warranted. So far, the guy's been nothing but a positive. A fighter needs to be in the lineup, I know we dont agree on that but thats how i see it. Drake is incapable of fighting, and I dont even count Lilja (sorry GMRwings ). If they wanna throw in Drake -light over Kopecky, then fine. But for the sake of Downey providing what the team is missing ...it shouldnt be him as the odd man out.

Actually there was a quote in todays Free Press with Holland talking about how he hopes Grigs goes to Russia and gets in shape...and yada yada. It said they'd still give him a qualifying offer next year to retain his rights.

It all depends on how Howard plays. If he's really good, they'll go with Howard/Osgood...with the hope being that Howard assumes the #1 job with Ozzie being the fallback safety net plan. If he's not a stand out goalie this year in GR, and Hasek is gone, i think they'd actually go the Kipper route. I just really dont think they'd go into a season with Osgood as the clear #1 imo.

The fact that he's been an everyday player in the past shouldnt matter. Drake has not looked very good at all, i know +/- isnt everything but -5??? Can you imagine if Downey was that? Drake may be better defensively, but it sure isnt showing. Drake wasnt brought here to fight, but he was brought here to hit and be physical. Do you think he's going to be out there crashing and banging with a fractured cheek? Doubtful. Obviously Drake is more likely to chip in the once in a while goal than Downey, but that doesnt outweigh the difference in what Downey will provide physicallly over an injured Drake.

In Iginla's defense though, he was trying to get something started by going after Schneider. Its not the first time he's done that late in games to try and ignite his squad somehow. We dont really know what goes on all the time, maybe Schneids had done something to Iginla at some other point in the series so thats why he targeted him...who knows. Also with the Wings of last year, its not like he could just challenge somebody on the team and they'd fight him. Nobody wouldve been willing without a reason. So he had to try and start something by other means. Its commonplace with most other teams who are losing to start something when the game is lost. Just because the Wings dont do that doesnt mean its the norm. Its something thats always gone on in the game...Mickey even talked about how the Wings needed to watch out once the score got out of hand. Happens all the time. If someone on the Wings bench doesnt like what Thornton is doing...go fight him!

Those really arent big names imo. Shelley's a big guy but really isnt that good, and Thornton is a bottom tier heavy as is Hordichuk. Parker i guess can count, but when the last time he's really done anything... its not like beating the Parker of old. I dont want to sound like im trying to discredit King, as he's one of my favorites right now and i see him being top of the heap material. Just saying he hasnt really proven himself yet against the real good heavies to be ranked any higher than 5 at this point. The one great guy he fought, he lost to. So we'll see, i'd love to see him come out this year and beat Boogey! Agree on Chris Simon. Other than Laraque, I think on any given night he could beat anybody in the league.

RIght now, other than owning George Parros, King doesnt really have that BIG name on his win list. So its hard for me to vault him over McGrattan....although i do think King has the ability. A shame the scheduling sucks cause i'd love to see him tangling with Laraque, McGrattan, Orr, etc. Godard's definitely in my top 10, although i didnt really like his showing against Semenov.
