Hell, friggin Reed Low is worth signing more than McCarty... EDIT: woah what a coincidence that the Low -blow comment above came as i was posting, i just have crazy instincts now
-
If he's available, San Jose for one had better seriously look into this.
-
Although it would be an absolute joke if McCarty were signed, if the choice is no fighters or McCarty...i'll take Mac. But i'd most definitely be bitching up a storm over other guys we could have picked up for that department.

Looks like a young PJ Stock in the red!

Had Godard not beaten Boogaard in impressive fashion, I wouldve had the exact same. He looked good with the Flames, but i can perfectly understand putting Orr ahead of him. Could go either way. In Laraque's case, I dont expect the changing of the guard to happen any time soon. I think as long as he's fighting, he'll always be the best out there. But his heart isnt into it, plus he's nowhere near as entertaining as a McGrattan, so i wouldnt want him ahead of any of those guys. I expect eventually Brashear will freefall down the rankings and start getting beat alot...maybe even next season.

I guess it depends on your taste. Ive always found Avery's antics to be pretty humorous and entertaining, so I dont mind his attitude at all! As for the penalties, I guess I just still have an old school mindset where an aggressive guy averaging around 2 minutes a game really isnt anything. Even if he's not fighting a ton, guys like Chelios used to be at 200 and rarely fight. Factoring in that Avery is a potential 20+ goal guy makes it just fine imo. But, I dont think theres any way the Wings would sign him anyway. He'd be over their 100 PIM limit mark. That would be the ideal trio for sure.

aaaaaaaah that explains it! Yeah i had just seen the clips.
-
This is the encore isnt it? I couldve sworn it was already on...not that i watched it the first time anyway.
-
As for who's actually the best fighters on the list, it would go as follows: Laraque Brashear Boogaard McGrattan Godard Orr Ivanans

Basically every reliever we look at Cleveland will have their eye on as well...so thats going to up the ante. Ive seen Octavio Dotel's name pop up, and I dont want him. We need a serious arm, like i said in the other post you have to act as if Zumaya is not coming back. That leaves a huge hole. We can afford to lose Trahern as we've already got 3 young dynamite arms in the rotation, and i think that will get Houston's attention. Of course i know theyll have to throw 1 or 2 other prospects in addition...but you just have to do it! A baseball season is too damn long to let all your effort go to waste cause of a shaky pen. I have all the confidence in the world that Dombrowski will get something big done.

Thats such a tired argument. Avery trimmed his PIMs down by over 80 minutes this season, he's become more disciplined plus he draws alot of penalties. Not to mention, the most penalized team in the league just won the Cup, you dont need a team full of Byngers to win. Keep things in perspective. There was a time not too long ago where 174 penalty minutes over a full season was looked at as not being all that high anyway.

Alright, last year I campaigned for Casey and we got him. Im trying my luck again and officially starting the trade for Brad Lidge campaign! Seeing how i cant get anybody i want in hockey ( ), maybe baseball is where my luck lies! Would love to swap out Monroe for a lefty LF too, even if its just a platooner with Thames. Gotta see who might be available. So i guess that rules out the Astros' Dan Wheeler! Too easy!

You and me both Barnes! That was the name that jumped right out at me.
-
Nope, 2 + 2 = 22...right?
-
Hank- I think everyone has "been there, done that" with the whole bench press/biceps curl only weight routine! Unfortunately it took a shoulder injury for me to realize that wasnt the way to go. Ive gained a couple pounds over the weekend, but I dont know, I think the 50 pizza rolls i ate for dinner yesterday MIGHT have something to do with it.
-
THE FIRST OPTION! Thats an easier question than asking me whats 2 +2! The first choice also would lead to much, much more exciting regular season games as well...so yeah thats a no brainer.
-
Im hoping the Tigers can get Brad Lidge, even if it means losing Trahern and another prospect. Its like Leyland has said, you can not count on Joel Zumaya coming back, you have to consider it like he's gone. If he makes it back, its a bonus. Looking at it that way, makes Lidge the way to go if the 'Stros will part with him. And if Zumaya does make it back 100%, imagine a team having to face Lidge AND Zumaya. Throw a lefty in between and managers will be left scratching their heads on how to counter that.

Im not exactly confident in Miner, given the way he fizzled last season after a hot start, but im glad to see him doing well in the pen so far. They still need to make one pretty big move for a relief pitcher I think.

Its funny how mad you can get over a trade, im not sure ive ever been as pissed as i was the moment i read it online. I had just woken up too, nice way to start your day off when your favorite player gets the boot! To me, it just signified everything i hated about Holland, he has zero problem letting physical guys go but will hold on for dear life to keep his finesse guys. I also naturally had a vendetta with Schneider from then on! That does seem really shady..
-
Lets recheck those stats. In 02-03, he played 51 games and accumulated 153 PIMs. Last season he accumulated 174....in 33 more games!
-
lol me too. First thing i do every time i get on the computer is check the transactions...and i just end up looking like this > every time
-
I thought their relationship was put on ice though? Maybe not..
-
In this case, yes. This is the best news ive heard all offseason next to Langfeld vanishing!
-
Whats the word on the possibility of Jagr being dealt? I feel like it might happen.
-
I was absolutely infuriated when Avery was dealt, here we finally had a guy that was really entertaining and played physical every time he stepped on the ice and Kenny goes and takes him away from me! I did a search earlier today for a couple old Avery threads from last year, and it was pretty funny to see the total 180 in attitude towards him.
