While im not exaclty jumping up and down, one thing i can say for sure is Holland got off the schneid when he signed Rafalski.
-
Oh dont worry, they wont be stopping! I wonder what teamu Selanne will end up on???
-
If Lebda becomes President, do you think he'll switch from defense to west wing?
-
So basically...this is telling us absolutely nothing. [eklund]The WIngs would like to trade for Lecavalier. My sources tell me either it wont happen or it will. Stay tuned for more details.[/eklund] EDIT: Forgot the [ ]

Sweet, im so glad Thames had the granny and now Raburn is up. Have a seat Craig! God has he been awful. I remember I made a post way back in this thread about having a battle between my bowling average and Monroe's batting average. 2 months later and the winner is still in doubt!
-
Definitely agree...Lilja > Lebda, no question. Ive always felt Lebda was very average and pretty overrated around here.

I dont know anything about the draft class, maybe that was a no brainer move. All im saying is over the course of last offseason and this one theyve gone from being a totally european dominated team to acquiring Shanahan, Avery, Cullen, Ward, Gomez, and Drury. If thats a coincidence, i think its a fairly big one. These additions also coincided with them getting swept by Jersey in '06. No, im not saying theyve become anti euro as thats obviously not the case, but i think its obvious that some effort is being put forth to bring in more North Americans.

If he makes Holland disappear, then yes. Instead of hat tricks, Copperfield would give us cap tricks!
-
Isles roster Didnt hear anything about it, but according to NHL.com, he's on their roster. I guess the Wings told Bootland to take a hike
-
Yes, i think we should definitely use Jiri Hudlure as trade bait.
-
This is exactly my point. We're NEVER going to get anybody like this unless we take chances with a guy like Winchester. Guys like Neil simply wont be let go by their team, because they know how valuable they are. So you either have to draft them, which wont happen with us, or take guys like Brad who show flashes and see if you can develop them to that level. If you never try with anybody...then we'll constantly be left saying "i wish we had Neil", "i wish we had Moen", "i wish we had Mayers", etc.
-
Well that depends then on what kind it was. If it was Kraft, its the cheesiest!
-
They also won because of Travis Moen, who i keep going back to alot, but this is the kinda guy i really covet. He wasnt much when the Ducks got him, and they totally turned him into a very valuable player. He's now 10x the player he was in Chicago. So naturally, I look at a guy like Winchester, and see a guy that does possess ability and that maybe we can turn into something good. And for such a small price? Thats what gets to me. Even if skill wise it didnt pan out, he'd still finally be someone big and physical on the 4th line at the very least. As for Parros, he wouldve seen alot more time if not for Thornton.

Sean's over the hill i think (obvious, cheesy,.... but makes sense..yeah i'll go with that one)

Really what the playoffs did for me was to show me that certain players i doubted, like Cleary, is actually somebody i'd really want out there. I didnt know he had that playoff warrior gear in him. But overall team-wise, i still have issues as im sure you can tell. I'd rather go in with a team that has more naturally physical guys on it rather than have to hope that a bunch of guys who play pretty darn soft in the regular season are able to kick it into another level. Plus, not to mention just from an entertainment standpoint alone i'd like a few crashers and a couple guys willing to throw, you know?

Well first off, I wouldnt say blitzed. For everyone who talks about Anaheim's "luckiness" in game 5, if Robert Lang doesnt score that cheapy against Nabokov in the closing moments of game 4 what happens with that series? Its 3-1 SJ and probably over. Secondly, Calgary was NOT one of the 3 toughest teams in the league. As you'll agree with, this was not the same Calgary team toughness wise compared to '04. Were they wimpy? Of course not, but they werent the same rough and tumble Flames team of the past. Upfront there wasnt a whole lot aside from Iginla and Primeau. The defense was really where their toughness lied, but again...for everyone who talks about the Schneider injury, Calgary was without Regehr in their series. Did i think the Flames would win? Yes, but im just saying its not the equivalent to beating the '04 version.

Like who...Tomas Kopecky? Just because Edmonton got rid of him doesnt mean somebody else cant turn him into something. The point is, we're talking a bottom barrell pricetag for a physical guy you can take a chance with. Worst case scenario, he's certainly better than having a Langfeld as your 13th forward.
-
Speaking of the whole toughness/pitching comparison, Holland was just in the Tigers broadcast booth. Christ...I cant get away from this guy!!
-
Dare i say...he struck out?
-
Too late! The man knows how to push my buttons...i'll give him that! See, when you add a line like that at the end...you're basically saying the team is tough in a fighting sense as well.
-
Yeah, they definitely differ. "Toughness" does have different definitions, I just wish Holland wouldnt use the word cause it irritates me!
-
But the thing is, they arent a dime a dozen! How many times do people suggest guys who fight, only to get the famous "he has no skill" rebuttal? Im not saying Winchester would for sure be a great player, but i wouldve liked to see what Babcock could do with him. Because the guy has shown ability. But what are we gonna end up with instead, Hussey or Ellis making the team? (if those 2 are even still around, which i dont care enough to look up)
-
You yourself, have been posting about how Holland is looking for a depth guy. Translation= 3rd and 4th liner. Yet you keep dismissing guys like Asham for example, because they arent top 6 wingers. He's not looking for one so what does it matter? You are sorely mistaken NFM. Ive never once professed a liking for Ken Holland. Maybe other people around here do the flip flop, but thats the farthest thing from the truth with me.

*Looks around...throws arms up* WHAT?!
