Cleary's goal production is just too much up in the air to pencil him in as your second line winger. He could just as easily drop down to 10 goals next season (which theres nothing wrong with)and i dont think anybody would really be shocked. He has to have another big year.

I dont think it really matters what year theyre in, it shouldnt be difficult to outdo someone like Brian McGrattan! My problem with Kopecky is when people say we cant use a guy like Asham because the bottom lines are set. I hate the idea that Kopecky is a deterrent to a toughness acquisition now when he's yet to show crap. Now if they were to move out Hudler, then fine.

How can you say that? Lets not forget he did actually play in 28 games, was not overly physical by any means, and managed 1 pt. I remember a thread months ago where i listed about 8 4th line fighters that were producing more than that! And those guys were actually playing twice as physical, as well as scrapping.

lol thanks. I like signing Ference just to have him around, because i like the idea of getting toughness into the minors and using that player's physicality as a foundation to build off of. You'll never know when you can strike gold and groom him into something complete and valuable. But the chances of ever seeing him are very slim, as much as i want someone physical even i have to realize he'll probably never crack the D barring 3-4 injuries. So that kinda sours it. Its not like a tough winger where at any moment he could be thrown in in place of an insignificant 4th liner, Ference would actually have to beat out quite a few guys on defense to ever get an oppurtunity. Its just not likely we'll ever see him.

Well that all depends on how you view the 3rd or 4th liners. I dont like Hudler, Samuelsson, or Kopecky. I know Sammy's not going to go anywhere (and obviously Maltby who i dont even bother mentioning), but Kopecky hasnt shown squat to deserve a spot automatically. Hudler i think should be out because he has no real place here.

The way things are looking, im expecting a 1 yr contract to pop up for Hasek for around 3.5 million to be honest. There may be some panic setting in. Asham will cost more than a mill a year....i'd guess 1.5-ish. The market for d-men is dictating that Sutton would get 7 mill for 2 years At this point, 4th rd picks have little to zero value. You wont get squat.

Gelinas is 37 yrs old, he did well in the playoffs 3 years ago but as the old cliche goes (old - literally in Gelinas' case!) that was then and this is now. Floating around on the 4th line for us he maybe gets 8 goals i'll call it at...not worth signing.
