I agree, its no different than a 12 year old taking martial arts. In fact, theres kids alot younger than that who partake in karate and whatnot. Its the same thing, kids who go to this camp are ones that are taking a future in hockey seriously. Its not going to be filled with kids just looking to beat up everyone in the neighborhood rollerblade game.

Jiri Hudler - Would you have played him more?
Lou_Siffer replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I really think Hudler should be traded, he just doesnt fit anywhere. He played well enough in the regular season to up his trade value, so you have to take advantage of that. My hunch about him has always been that he'll end up on a bad team and be one of their top producers. Its just not going to work here though. -
Wow im so impressed the way you flaunted your red and white to all comers in Colorado, so how would you compare The Malebox there to the one in MI? You are by far the most insignificant poster on the board, nothing you say is worth a damn. Usually i just completely skip over your posts when i see your name. You know, maybe if you had spent a little less time here and more time playing your guitar you might actually accomplish something of value. Cause obviously, if youve been playing for 15 years and have gotten nowhere you must f*ckin' suck! Perhaps wowing the neighborhood rugrats with Guitar Hero would better suit you. Anyways, back to ignoring you...later.

Ratings for Stanley Cup finals down 20 percent
Lou_Siffer replied to RedwingFan29's topic in General
If by "huge" you mean about a 2.0, then yeah! No matchup whatsoever wouldve generated above a 2.5 - 3 rating. Having a Canadian team in the Finals, even if its Toronto or Montreal, will always be a negative on the ratings. -
I really think their style is very entertaining. Theres a little something for everybody, they have alot of skill to appease the skill lovers, and they have a plethora of physical guys and toughness for guys like me. Its a total package. What they got going is really a great blend of the two and what makes them succesful. I just wish we could see the day where the Wings took a page out of their book and surrounded Zetterberg and Datsyuk with a bunch of guys that play tough and nasty. I just dont think it'll ever happen though with Holland, he simply just doesnt support that type of game.

You're making a nice debut here Rangers79, everything ive seen of yours so far ive agreed with!
-
I dont know anything thats been said in other threads, but what ive read here from Rangers79 seems to be accurate so far. The posts he's critiquing actually are pure nonsense.

Yeah the more i look at it, thats definitely Nate! He's gotta have the hat on though, cause i dont really see it as much in the 3rd picture
-
nater - i think you kinda have coincidently, a little Nate Robertson in you (when he had the beard going)
-
Im not surprised with the goggles on that you probably dont even recall the Motzko penalty. Both penalties were horrible calls to begin with, much less that late in the game.
-
Porcella is just a high school kid, we wont see him here minimum '09. And thats best case scenario with him being lights out at every minor league stop and flying through the system.

Thats probably because everyone has air conditioners.

Getzlaf is an outstanding player, and will be their star next season i think. Of their young guys i originally thought Penner would be that guy...but its Geztlaf. (not that i dont think Penner will be really good mind you..) But on your topic of cross checking, honestly i view it as part of the game. Using the lumber has ALWAYS been part of the game! Yes its a penalty but its not a cut and dry one, we see tons of crosschecks that dont get called. I dont see anything wrong with the way he plays.

I agree 100%. This was a win for all fight fans and physical hockey in general. Its for all the nay sayers who say you cant win with a guy like Shawn Thornton in your lineup and would rather have a Josh Langfeld type instead. Anaheim wanted a tough as nails team and stuck to it the whole way....just when you thought they couldnt get any tougher, they go and grab Brad May as their only acquisition at the deadline. They even played Shawn Thornton in the playoffs. They took a guy in Travis Moen who wasnt much in Chicago, and developed him into undoubtedly one of the more valuable 3rd liners you'll find. I absolutely loved the team attitude instilled by Burke and Carlyse. Almost everyone up and down their lineup played with an edge. Even Teemu Selanne showed that attitude, not physically but remember him talking up the Beauchemin/Iginla fight last year as a key reason his team won the series? Its like he became "North Americanized" i guess you could say and Ive liked him ever since hearing that comment!

We're complete opposites then, as I think the Ducks play the best style of hockey in the NHL. I have a hard time believing your statement about Pronger though, are you sure you didnt feel exactly the same about Todd Bertuzzi a few years ago?
-
What I really like about Porcello is that he's bringing a consistent 94-95mph fastball at a 6'5 188lb frame. Put a little weight on and he could be slinging upper 90's. Same thing that happened with Zumaya.

Everyone at Ferris shouldve taken the day off.

Im kinda split on this one. On one hand, the team clearly had a vacancy for a top 4 defenseman. They had Niedermayer and Beauchemin which is great, and O'donnell is pretty darn solid, but there was definitely a need there. So in that sense, yes Pronger being that guy kinda does make him the missing piece. However, on the other hand its not like the Ducks wouldve stood pat with that extra 6 mill or whatever Pronger is making and not acquired anybody. Had they signed Chara would they have won the Cup? Yes. Jovanovski? Another yes from me. Its just tough to give a definitive answer because we dont really know what wouldve happened with their defense situation.
-
The guy on ESPN said Porcello is very similar in size, pitch repertoire, and even mechanics to one Justin Verlander. Miller time is back! At the expense of Robertson going on the DL with tired arm. Its strange that i havent heard more about that incident in the Tampa Bay game where he appeared to tweak something in his back possibly. He stayed in the game, but i noticed right away his velocity had dropped a little. I wonder if that has something to do with it, cause he started getting hit after that and has been since.

And what about the lame ass holding call with 4 minutes left on Joe Motzko in game 5? That was just as bad as the one on Datsyuk, yet nobody ever mentions it. That was a penalty at a crucial time for Anaheim. The Datsyuk penalty was more than likely a makeup call for that garbage one.

Schneider scored TWO powerplays goals in the regular season, and here you are acting like its some sure bet that he wouldve gotten a few against Anaheim. How the hell can you assume that? I say Giguere wouldve stopped his shots. Also, lets keep in mind that during the year Matt had his fair share of defensive gaffs, I can just as easily make the claim that it couldve happened again and Anaheim gets a goal off it. See, its just as easy for me to play this game as well!
-
Thats all speculation eva ...I say the result wouldve been the same. We'll never know. We dont even know how the WIngs wouldve done against Ottawa, maybe Anaheim just matched up really well with them. Again, theres really no point doing the "what if" thing. They'll only have to pay Giguere an extra mill probably, Selanne may retire, and the cap is going up. Next year they will be perfectly fine.
-
I can agree with that. In a couple years, there will be some contract/ cap issues for sure. But i dont think Burke is afraid to deal any of them if it came down to it. Either way, they have a foundation for a great team over the next 4 or 5 years.
-
Selanne was the 4th to get it after Pronger. May was after him.

The Ducks lost 5 games the entire postseason...luck my ass. Get over it.
