Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?
Lou_Siffer replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
Sorry but i tend to think it is an excuse. Bertuzzi being at 70% was the known risk when he was acquired. You cant say it was bad luck that he wasnt 100%, as he wasnt 100% when we got him in the first place! Kronwall gets hurt every year and is something you just have to plan for depth wise. Not a shock there. Also dont forget Chris Kunitz, who scored 60 pts in the regular season, was out for the Ducks. -
Who is your favorite all time player, AND your favorite active player?

They'd both be up there for sure (i was always a little more of a Kocur guy), but i dont know, I just took a really big liking to May in his Buffalo days so he's always been my boy. -
Sorry, after reading this i just couldnt resist Absolutely. Murray gets a ton of credit. After all, Burke is not responsible for Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, etc. However, his finishing touches getting guys like Beauchemin and Pronger were critical pieces. You know, i think an interesting comparison can be drawn to Ken Holland in the late 90's and what he inherited. Anyone that denies Burke credit for this team should also deny Holland credit for the 98 Cup.

You are clearly misinformed about Asham. He's only played for two teams his whole career so i dont know what you're talking about there. He's been on the Isle for the past 4 or 5 seasons. He is one of those guys that possesses skill to go along with his toughness. He's a role player that scores 10-15 goals, and on this team, i think he could be good for 15-20. You're last comment about having too many Hudler types, well on that note, just how many Moen/Neil types do we have???? Get where im going?
-
Arron Asham for sure. Ive wanted him here for 5 years and now he's finally unrestricted. Although with a certain unnamed guy being meaninglessly re-signed for 3 more years it doesnt look like theres a spot available on the lower lines. He would perfectly fill that Moen/Neil type void.

Glasgow will be happy to hear this then. Im still staring at those two pictures in amazement, minus Datsyuk having the alien shaped head the resemblance is striking.

You know, now that i think about it, the fact that the Joe would constantly play "gettin' Jiggy with it" is reason enough to not want him here. I dont think i can take another cheesy played out song. -

Remember when everyone was knocking Giguere and his degenerative hips? I like Giguere alot, but Hasek has to be plan A. -
Thanks for the welcome backs! As for Maltby, its just that the Wings have guys that can play his role now. Theres no denying he's going downhill. He just doesnt fit anymore. This has nothing to do money, its about the roster spot. Cleary, regardless of his goal output this season, i still view as a a "grind line type" (hence the new Maltby comparison). He's not going to score 20 goals again, he'll probably be around 10 which is just fine. Maltby simply isnt needed anymore... Detroit Fan - I just dont see them dishing the dollars out for Smyth with Zetterberg nearing the end of his contract. But yeah, i'd love to get him! Kp - If Thornton dresses, he'll probably be a thorn in Neil's side constantly trying to get him to go and rile him into taking penalties. So having McGrattan in does make a little sense to neutralize him. Do you think if i send that logic Murray's way he'll bite? (he'd also own Shawn if they scrapped imo). Alot of credit for the Ducks does go to Bryan Murray, but Burke is responsible for the toughness aspect of the team. He's an ******* too...I like the guy! I love throwing intended puns in every post, way to pick up on it. Yeah a few were slacking, I had to fire them. [insert scene from Billy Madison]

All time - Brad May Yeah, that probably looks like a really odd choice to most of you, but consider the runner-up is Tony Twist -
lol i dont know either, you'll have to get the ladies' opinions on Datsyuk for that

Sorry im a bit behind but...ANDREW MILLER baby!!! Something really needs to be done about this bullpen...and fast! These guys lke Aquafina Lopez arent gonna cut it. I have nothing against the guy, but inevitably i think the move here may be to trade Maroth for a reliever (and subsequently call up Miller of course)

You remind me of someone.... (DRUMROLL PLEASE) spitting image i tell ya!

Why thank you Reem! I think when it comes down to a series going anything under 7 games, the better team wins. A 7 game series the argument can be made that the two teams are equals, but not with 4-2 imo. I mean it would be just as easy to say if it wasnt for Nabokov letting in a cheapy in game 4 that San Jose wouldve won. But you cant do that. The Datsyuk penalty in game 5 was horrible and im sure had everyone screaming here, but there were a ton of penalties on Anaheim that were horrendous as well....and called at crucial times. So that went both ways i thought. So im assuming you wouldnt approve if i put up a Burke avatar?

I'll probably end up seeing it. I have this feeling that Jackson is gonna end up with a flash severe 1 punch knockout on Liddell. Like Liddell's kicking his ass and then BOOOM its over. Chuck is awesome and i normally always go with him, but its just the way things have been going in the UFC lately. Theyve been getting all kinds of pub on ESPN lately, its great. I think its officially on the verge of overtaking boxing. Its extremely important that the main even lives up to the billing, this will be the biggest buy rate in UFC history.

WIth the way Cleary has come on Reem, there is absolutely zero reason to resign Kirk Maltby. Cleary, essentially, is the new Maltby. Out with the old in with the new as the saying goes! You dont need him just to kill penalties, because theres also Franzen and Draper there among others. Aside from that, wasnt he like a -8 or so in the regular season anyway? Thats pretty bad for someone who's supposed to be good defensively. Maltby absolutely becomes a total waste of a roster spot. Looking at the free agent list, and given that because of the Datsyuk deal Ryan Smyth is now probably out of the equation unfortunately, I agree on re-signing Bertuzzi. However, I wouldnt offer him more than a one year deal. With his injuries and everything else, you just have to see what kind of game he's gonna bring over a full season before giving him a multiple year deal.
-
Yeah i remember that one too. The first one about having no QB after Delhomme was the one that really caught me offguard, like wait, did he just say that?? It must be a tough spot to have to analyze your own team, but he just wasnt politically correct at all in the way he worded things.

The best team IS winning in this case glasgow. Who outside of Vancouver went into this series actually thinking the Canucks were better? Way to go Moen! Its always nice to see tough guys like him and Ryan Clowe become such valuable contributors. See what can happen when you take chances picking up guys like this? The Ducks got Moen for little and turned him into a very solid 3rd liner, and Clowe was a 6th rd pick.

You know if an anthem singer in the US tried to do that it would just come out muffled as at least half the crowd would butcher the words!

tampa bay might have to trade 1 of their big 3
Lou_Siffer replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
I did say in that post that we probably wouldnt have the resources to get him. So that left only a 1% chance prior to the resigning, but at least thats better than 0! I just hate that feeling of knowing if any premier players, especially someone i liked i.e. Lecavalier became available, we have no shot at him. Thats all. -
I think the underlying moral of the dream Harold is that like your love for pizza, you just wanted someone hot and ready on prom night.
