I think that for the wings to win another stanley cup its going to be able staying healthy. When all our core players stay healthy we are usually the favourite

Detroit will fill the arenas in the east just like they did in the west, this is a moot point. Also with a more balanced schedule westerns are going from 2 home games vs detroit to 1 home game vs Detroit plus 1 home game vs philly, pits, Washington, NYR etc. Leopold is part of bettmans inner circle. If he saying it, then there is a lot of validity to it. The schedule has been extremely unfair to Dallas and Minnesota. Two central time zone teams whose entire divisions play in a different time zone. I know people would like to see Vancouver and Winnipeg playing in the same division, but how many people are going to stay up and watch that? local TV deals are becoming huge money this is all about the $$$, not about trying to get all the Canadian teams together

again its just money -relax

It's only money if he's s*** and we need the cap space he can be demoted, but with the cap exploding that probably wont happen. There wasn't a better free agent D-man

no where in any news report did they mention 2 teams moving west so that dallas and st louis (mid-western teams) could play in the east. The eastern conference would be seperated into north and south. The west seperated into pacific and midwest. With one team moving east. Also: I believe that ottawasun article might have been a bit misinformed about the details. Probably getting the bettman proposal and the blue jackets proposals mixed together.
-
according to reports both should finalized in december. I personally think they will contract phoenix until an arena in quebec city is built. So then there would be 3 divisions of 7 and 1 of 8.
-
this is terrible proposal that would pretty much upset everyone in the league. no offense

You also have to factor in what 4 divisions of 7 or 8 team does to scheduling. For example teams play divisional rivals 4 times (2 home, 2 away) = 24 games for the 7 team divisions and 28 games for the 8 team divisions play every team twice (home and away) = 46 games for 7 team division and 44 games for 8 team division Total that up = 70 and 72 How you divide up those remaining 10 or 12 games is really the big question, - do you play each team in your division an additional time? Doing so would essentially eliminate conferences since you be playing the other 3 division an almost equal amount of times. - do you play the teams in the other division in your conference an extra games? This would essentially eliminate divisions since you'd only play your division 4 times vs 3. *****with bonus game throw in to get up to 82

Accord to Lou Lou, http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2011/06/nhl_2012-13_realignment_how_wi.html the plan betman submitted had only one team moving east. Now if you combine this with the fact that Columbus is petition the league for TWO teams to move east (not Detroit). AND that so many wings officials have been on record stating that the wings the next to move east. Also noting that going to two divisions per conference from the current three would eliminate the south eastern division and the big need to move nashville east (even though that never made any sense because washington is not a 'southern' team) It would only make sense for detroit to be the team betman proposed to move east.

It's pretty obvious that he has not lived up to his 2nd overall after crosby, From that draft about half of the 1st rounders are in the NHL, many of them are already stars: Crosby, Price, Hanzel, Cogliano etc. I mean it'd be one thing if he was being held back in the AHL, or stuck on the 4th line, but they have been giving him plenty of minutes with some very good players. Gauranteed he wouldn't even have played one game in NHL if it wasn't for his draft position. It also show how 'great' of a GM burke is.

Okay Ill admit it, I didn't do much research when I posted this. I went of the info my brother told me. I'll eat crow now..

Seriously? The last thing we need it another big contract, idiotic idea

It is rhetoric like this that is ruining the game and league!

2/3 major injuries in college sports are from cheerleading. That isn't important but it hasn't been banned -
The same seattle that just lost their NBA team because they wouldn't cough up the money to build a new arena, yeah really smart.... The #1 choice for a new hockey market, outside of south western ontario, is houston. Hockey is proven to be a popular sport in Texas, and Houston is a huge city from which to draw fans and corporate sponsors. The only problem is that Houston knows it, and they aren't going to be stupid enough to give these sweet heart arena deals that the likes of Phoenix, Nashville and Kansas are willing to do. The fact of the matter is that the best markets have teams. You could work really hard and try to get some capital together to get a team in Houston. And maybe you could somehow get another team into toronto. Both would be difficult to do, and they would probably turn into strong franchises. But it wouldn't solve the leagues problems. A team like Florida would probably be better off in a city like Winnipeg or Portland. And a move to Vegas could be a good idea or the biggest disaster in sports history, a gamble not worth taking (no pun intended). But they would still rely heavily on revenue sharing and owners with deep pockets. The League would be far better off just contracting to 28 teams or something, and concentrating on building the already existing markets.

yeah but he's hossa's buddy, maybe we dont get hossa this year without him

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.
bogeygolfer replied to rage's topic in General
aint going to happen. I remember in the summer there was a rumor Zetterberg was offered a long term contract for 7.5 a year. But he want more money, pointing to the contract Staal had just signed -
only kaberle has that window in his contract this summer, kubina had it last summer and they decided agianst moving him
-
not going to happen during the season due to the cap, during the offseason, very very possible

The team would need to file for chapter 11 bankrupcy to get out of the lease in phoenix, and if they went bankrupt some like JOVO who is overpaid would probably go unclaimed if on waivers. And then the team could just terminate his contract as part of bankrupcy, but then you get into a whole bunch of legal things, with a whole bunch of lawyers involved. Jovo is probably the only guy who would fall into that category, so to save the headache a number of things could happen.

This is a complete joke, Kovalchuk is gone after this season. Why should he stay? Because they stiched a C on his jersy? I mean I could understand if they had a good owner like they do some other non-hockey market, but atlanta doesn't have that, they don't have a good gm, they dont have a good coach, and they don't have anyone coming up the pipe. I would frustrated aswell. I mean you could find 5 or 6 teams in the NHL who's 2nd line would be than the 1st line in atlanta.
-
I'm making the predicting right now, once the yotes play their last game of the season, be it regular season or playoff, the next day the team will file for bankrupcy. And I think it will be chapter 7 and not your typical chapter 11 (restructuring). I mean chapter 7, we give up sell for parts.
