Cobo needs to be rebuilt. It would all add up to the same for a new convention center after repairing and fixing things from the original heating and cooling units from the 60's to the crumbling parking structure and small loading docks making it impossible for trucks to unload and load back up as well building a expansion for it. As much as I love Chicago, I enjoy riding my bike through the neighborhoods of Detroit and looking at all the old homes then riding my bike by the river or lake Michigan. But then again I enjoy watching Norm from "This old house."

What do you expect from fans in Chicago when there is a 7-11 on every dang corner of the streets. Heck one was not even a block down the street. They need to cut back on drinking slurps over there.

It was cold today in Chicago. I froze my butt off.

IIRC the Leafs and Rangers spent just as much as the Wings.

It must be really windy in Nashville and they must have all the doors open at the sommet center for Toootoo not be able to balance on skates.

Blah Arsenal needs to get back on track. Howard Webb was making poor ref decisions for both Liverpool and Arsenal today.

I'm here to eat my crow pie in saying they will win 2 or 3 games.

Cobo needs to be rebuilt completely. You want to talk about a dump. The loading docks for trucks are too small, the cement in the parking structures are crumbling and falling off, lots of doors are broken, the heating/cooling units are pretty much as old as the building which means they are big energy hogs and the list goes on and on.

I don’t think the location is that bad. You can either take West Jefferson, Civic center drive (I think its been renamed for Steve Yzerman) or the lodge to park at the Joe garage. If you choose not to park at the Joe garage; then you can take the people mover or walk on Fort Street go through the Wayne county community college property or cut across the lodge on the foot bridge off of 3rd street/congress which both will lead you past the Joe parking garage right across the street from the arena. You can also walk the river walk to get too the Joe.

Sit in section 204A Row 27. It's like sitting behind the old pillars at baseball games. You can't see anything in front of you. Though it looked like they cutout a chunk of the inside of the Joe and stuck some seats in it. In that row your deeper back then the press box. This is what it looks like when sitting before people came into the building. I should of took one when the game was going on but you can get a broad idea of how bad it will be with bodies/heads in the way.

Perani's Hockey World in Sterling Heights between 16 and 16 1/2 mile road. Not sure if they sell Nashville Pred jerseys but I have seen other teams there.

I saw a good looking girl who was wearing Av's jersey while walking on the concourse. They should have interviewed her.

I was on the other side of the rink across from it and looked like a bottle

Just copy/paste his blog article in the thread. Here is the article so you don't have to click the link to read. Welcome back Blackhawks, now Red Wings fans can loathe you again. The Chicago Blackhawks are enjoying a resurgence on and off the ice and are once again relevant in the hockey world as evidenced by a cover story in The Hockey News on December 1st. Led by super sophomores Patrick Kane (last season’s rookie of the year) and team captain Jonathan Toews, the Hawks are quickly becoming a pain in the posterior for the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings, and this is great for the fans. Following Detroit’s 5-4 comeback shootout victory over Chicago on Saturday, December 6th at Joe Louis Arena, the Wings sit in second place in the Western Conference while the Hawks are seventh, meaning if the playoffs started today this would be a first round match up. This would be a treat for the fans as these two teams have played some very entertaining hockey over the past two seasons. Oddly enough these two teams have only played each other 14 times in the playoffs, the last time being in the 1995 Conference Finals won by the Wings four games to one. Since the arrival of Kane and Toews last season, the Wings record against the Hawks is five wins, four losses and one shootout loss. Two of the Wings victories have come via the shootout this season. To put it in perspective, between their last playoff meeting and the arrival of Kane and Toews last season the Wings had a record of 38 wins, 14 losses, eight ties and six overtime or shootout losses against Chicago since 1995. “They’re good, they’re talented. Kane and Toews, (Patrick) Sharp and this (Kris) Versteeg kid, and obviously (Brian) Campbell, and (Brent) Seabrook and (Duncan) Keith, those are front line players, and they have good goaltending,” said Wings coach Mike Babcock, assessing the budding rival. “I expect them to be good for a long time to come, I expect us to have some very entertaining hockey games with them.” It’s something the players’ sense as well. “They’ve just carried over from last year,” said Dan Cleary on the Hawks improvement. “They’ve really had our number, they played us well last year. I can remember they beat us numerous times last year, and this year they have played us well. It’s been a shootout kind of game, the last time we were in there it was another shootout win.” And by the banter in the upper bowl at Joe Louis Arena the rivalry is something the fans have picked up and seem to enjoy as much and if not more than the players and teams. Here is an example of an exchange between some Hawks fans and Wings fans following a penalty call on Detroit: Hawks fan: CHEATERS! Wings fan: We won the Cup! Hawks fan: CHEATERS! Wings fan: 1961!! The next meeting between the two teams is The Winter Classic at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Day. It will mark the 700th game between the two teams, the most between two teams in NHL history. The Wings lead the all-time series record against the Hawks with 354 wins, 261 losses and 84 games ending in a tie. As of January 1, 2009, the second highest number of games against an opponent will be Boston and Montreal at 696 times and then Montreal and Toronto at 692. From the Press Notes: Nicklas Lidstrom’s three points on December 4 against Vancouver moved him ahead of Sergei Fedorov into fourth place on the Red Wings all-time scoring list with 956 points. He trails Gordie Howe, 1,809, Steve Yzerman, 1,755, and Alex Delvecchio, 1,281. The Red Wings currently have the NHL’s best road record at 10-2-2. They were the second best road team in 2007-08 (25-12-4) and set an NHL record for road wins with 31 in 2005-06. Andreas Lilja was named the Carhartt "Hardest Working Player" for the month of November. He leaddsthe Wings with 26 penalty minutes and 38 blocked shots. He is second on the Wings with 46 hits. He set a career best with points in four consecutive games from November 17 through November 24.

and has a wing wheeled logo on the front of his chest.

You see more people wearing Red Wings gear around the Metro area then Lions, Pistons and somewhat of the Tigers. So I think you can throw out the "Are Michiganers just giving less and less a s*** about a hockey?"

HERE IS THE STORY WITHOUT HAVING TO CLICK THE LINK I feel like I've cheated on the Red Wings On Thursday I attended the Buffalo Sabres at Florida Panthers game instead of the Vancouver Canucks at the Detroit Red Wings game, and feel like I cheated on the Red Wings. And while the Joe Louis Arena was probably rocking while the Wings scored three straight goals in the third pereiod only to hold on for a one goal victory, the Panthers also held on for a one goal victory. However the Bank Atlantic Center was somewhat quiet, and had just as many Sabres fans. After an email from my friend Capper following the Montreal Canadiens at Detroit game last week, I was curious to see the Panther pregame presentation and compare it to show at Joe Louis Arena. I was interested because my buddy Capper indicated how disappointed he was by the lack of entertainment at Joe Louis Arena in comparison to the Bell Centre in Montreal. The Canadiens put on a show similar to the show the Wings put on prior to the playoff games last season. The difference is they do it for their home games, and Capper was expecting to be enteretained before the game as well as during the game. So I was curious to see what the Panthers do prior to the game. With a little more than five minutes remaining before the players take the ice to start the game the lights in Bank Atlantic Center were brought down, and the music was fired up, there was a light show on the ice and a film clip on the scoreboard to get the Panther fans fired up. And I wondered why don't the Red Wings do the same, they did it in the playoffs. The pregame show is the same now as it was 20 years ago, except the music has changed. Would it improve the experience? Now the entertainment during the game did not measure up to a Red Wings game, and the atmosphere in the building did not come close to the Joe Louis Arena during a Red Wings game, especially a 6-5 shootout. So although I enjoyed the weather outside the building, the carpeted concourse of the Bank Atlantic Center, the pregame show, and the off ice entertainment during the game, I missed the noise of the crowd at Joe Louis and the on-ice entertainment the Red Wings provide.
