Bingo. You can't get an upgrade over Osgood or Conklin for what the Wings can afford. Yeah I don't udnerstand. After everthing we've seen post-lockout people still rip into Kenny and think he NEEDS to make a trade. He didn't go and spend money and useless players in the summer of 07, like many in here kept yelling for him to do, and then went and got Stuart at the deadline and the Wings win the Cup. And who will the Wings pick up who is an upgrade over the two goalies they have now that is affordable with their cap situation? But they have like 8 d-men. Lids, Rafalski, Kronner, Stuart, Lebda, Cheli, Lilja and Meech. Where would another dman fit in? I know people in here don't lke Lilja but the Wings do so if he's healthy he's probably playing. I don't see a dman fitting in. And the same response I had to someone above.. who do they get that's an upgrade for a low cap number?

Wings won't make a trade to make a trade. If they find the right fit price, cap space and assets to give up, they'll do it. The only thing I see is a checker. They will not get a goalie. Who at the price of 1mil a year or so is going to so great that the wings would pick him up?

Yeah and just to play devils advocate here just because he wasn't talking to him then doesn't mean he isn't now. We'll never know unless Neil becomes a Red Wing.

They have. But it's not a personel thing it's a get your head out of your butt kinda thing so there isn't much they can do imo, especially with the cap. I like the idea of getting Neil for the 3rd or 4th line though to help get a little more grit.

No. This is a team that won the cup a year ago with those players and are sitting #2 in the West.

The only move the Wings make is a 3rd/4th line checking player or maybe a depth d-man.

He never really had all that much success as a head coach in the NHL. So including Murray when he was the head coach the Sens now are on their 5th coach, including interims, since getting to the finals 2 years ago. 6th once they hire the new guy in the summer. Brian Murray might be comng up next. They fired Muckler after getting to the Finals and let Murray take over that job. How have things worked out with that move?

What everyone else said. His salary is too big for one. Both of the Wings goalies together make barely over half of that. Plus giving up Ericsson? No way. And Toskala has been very up and down anyways. Not happening.

The only rumor a while ago was that ESPN would take over the NBC coverage basically but that VS had to sign off on it since they have exclusive cable rights. I would have no problem with this if it means getting rid of Pierre Maguire. VS is getting better personally now that he isn't on it and their studio/studio crew doesn't look like something from public access that m area HS could put together like they did that first year.

I was wondering when someone would post this. Sometimes his ideas are so far out there. Yeah Ozzie might be struggling but you are gonna bring in Legace who has looked even worse and is making 2.5mil a year, or whatever, for what 3 goalies? They aren't gonna trade Ozzie, thats not how this franchise does things, and they sure as heck aren't sending him down to GR. He had the Wings last year going after Khabibulin at the deadline last year when you could have argued both goalies could start in the playoffs. He's very very full of it sometimes.

He'll probably say he deserved another chance like he did when the Wings let him go in 06. That bugged me back then. You had two chances, 04 & 06, and blew it both times. Cujo bailed you out in 04 and you probably would have been yanked in game 5 against the Oilers had Ozzie not been hurt. He's had a good career as a backup regular season goalie and that's about it.

Yeah this is how I feel. Yeah neither goalie has been great but the team is giving up some terrible, well great if you are the other team, chances. That is not Red Wings hockey. The last half of the first period the other night they got outshot 10-2 I think.

I'm not totally surprised. You would think you could get something but a what 39 year old making almost 6mil? Now if you want him you can sign him probably for much less. This one I can't fault him as much as last year with Bryzgalov(sp?). You mean you couldn't get anything for a the guy who was making under 2mil a year? But he couldn't get Neidermeyer to make up his mind and Selanne didn't know if he wanted to come back and that kinda hurt him. That plus the stupid signing of Bert and it's been all down hill. He got caught up in the looking at just one year and not longer term. Eh well don't feel bad for him. Not really feeling bad for Schneider either. He took the bigger money to go back to LA, he got one year of it and will still get I think 2/3's for whats left plus sign a new deal that will probably be with the Kings. Other than not being able to win a Cup I don't see him losing much.

So was the first post about Sammy saying he actually shoots left handed on the game and then it blew up out of context? So is he still a lefty on thsi game. The last game I bought was NHL 07 and he was a left which bugged the crap out of me. I like the EA NHL games but it's little things like this that bug me, especially when they had it right before. NHL 98 for Sega had Shanny as a left haned shot too. As for Stewie yeah they just got it wrong and use his number from last year so again EA not getting details right. That one bugs me less than someone being the wrong handed though.

Sundin is not coming here. Even waiting till the deadline he would still have to sing for barely anything. Not happening people sorry. I doubt the Wings will be needing any offense at the deadline either. As for Sundin I have a feeling he's going to do exactly what he said he wouldn't and be a rental player. He said he didn't want to be a rental last season and that you should be on a team the whole year and go to war together, or something like that. So joining a team in like January would be what Mats? If he comes back any later than Oct 9th I will lose respect for him totally, which I don't have much left for him now either. Wings signed the right guy in Hossa.

Your 23 players are going to look something like this: Dats - Zetterberg - Homer Mule - Fil - Hossa Cleary - Draper - Sammy Huds - Kopecky - Maltby Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronner - Stuart Lebda - Lilja Chelios - Meech or Quincey Your 13th forward will be either Helm, Mac(if he signs a 2 way deal) or Downey. My guess is Downey or Mac. With that lineup it might be hard to keep Helm in the lineup consistantly. Now I know people in here will say Malts should be benched or cut or traded, thats what YOU would do not what this team will do. With having the option to send Helm down I think they do that. Maybe I'm wrong but I think they would want Mac or Downey as the 13th because they would have no problem sitting them down for long stretches. They seem to like Malts still because he can still play the pk. And Helm would get more time in GR. As for Dman I say Meech but it could be Quincey we'll see in about a month. I don't think it's Lilja. They just signed him and they like him. Just because people here don't doesn't mean he's gone. I understand that he makes more money than the other 2 but I don't see it happening

If you mean a trade to make more cap space, like all the talk that a d-man will probably be traded? No. Since it's a two-way deal he can be sent down to Grand Rapids and his salary won't count against the cap. Signing him does not make a trade more likely. It's just as likely as it was yesterday.
