People were worried back at the deadline because the team wasn't playing well but they were missing 4 of their top 6 d-men. Thats why people were looking at it and saying they needed a forward!! You think the Ducks would be doing good with Pronger and Schneider and Neidermeyer being out? That essentially what the Wings had to deal with. People don't or didn't realize how big Lidstrom, Rafalski and Kronner are with the offensive side of things. They get everything going. And I would take McCarty over Lapointe in the situation that presented itself. They got Mac for nothing and would have had to give up something for Lapointe and in the cap world I wouldn't give up a prospect or pick for Lapointe. McCarty's fit in well on the 4th line. This is why I reserve my judgement on things until after they play out. Holland has taken this team from 78mil to 48mil in 3 years while finishing 1st in the west all 3 years, one trip to the WCF's and one trip to the SCF's and now being 2 wins away from the cup. Everyone jumps on him when he doesn't do what they want and yet they don't know what teams are asking for what from them. Just because something doesn't happen doesn't mean he wasn't talking. My first vote right now if the Wings win it is Ozzie with Zetterberg coming a close 2nd and Datsyuk a close 3rd. Franzen had this thing wrapped up if he wouldn't have gotten hurt. I hope the Wings win and Ozzie gets it.

Blame the NHL for they are calling at times. Players aren't stupid if they are going to be calling the littlest of tugs from a stick or whatever they are gonna go down. For the most part I like that the NHL calls more of the stuff but the puck battles along the boards that get called bug the crap out of me sometimes. As for Ozzie, the Malone contact, was a big flop but if Homer is getting penatlies for his stick in the crease then you might as well do it. The Sykora one was a clear hit. The fall I don't think he embellished but the after effects he probably did. The Wings get crap like that called against them all the time because of Homer's reputation. While I might not like it on that particular instance I blame the NHL for that. don't call non-calls against the Wings and maybe that won't happen.

Now I don't know if the NHL had the schedule set a year in advance like they said but I posted the 4 possible schedules in here when the Celtics and Cavs were tied 2-2. So the NHL had their days reserved before the NBA knew how long the Celtics series was going. The only way there would have not been a hockey game this saturday was if both the Pens and Wings would have had to go to 7 games. There was going to be a game on Monday and Wednesday of next week no matter what.

He is playing hurt that is known. How bad it is we won't know until this series is over.

The latest weakness in my mind is taking penalties. That was a problem in game 6 and if they do that against this Pens PP that could be problems. Game 5 it was a little bit of a problem just from when they took them, they were momentum killers. And if Fleury is better than he has been. He's going to have to be. After round 2 some people thought that the reason the Wings outshot the Preds and Avs was because they just weren't as good but the Wings did pretty much the same thing against the Stars. So the Pens will need to be in for a barage of shots so he's going to need to stand on his head at times I would think. If the Wings play even close to the way they did during the 9 game winning streak I don't think the Pens have a chance to go longer than 6 games but I think Fleury being red hot and bad penalties would be two biggest factors for a Pens victory. I'll be interested to see how the first 2 games play out.

They had bad years and they totally deserve it because of it. If they had those bad years and didn't get compensated with high picks they would sitll be bad and probably not be in Pitt, which wouldn't be fair. And your argument about the salary cap is dumb. Wait a couple years when all of those high picks are up for big contracts. Its gonna be tough for the Pens to keep all of them and they will face some tough choices I would think. Malone I think is an UFA this year and Malkin is making under 1mil and is up for RFA next summer.

I don't think anyone has heard that for sure. I think people are making that guess from the fact that his headaches are gone and that the Wings still have till Saturday for him to get ready to play. If he continues to improve game 2 would be my best guess and hope, but you never know he could have set back.

I'm interested to see how hurt Morrow was. After that fall I still think he seperated his shoulder. As for the series I'm very happy they put it away. They looked like the team that won 9 in a row. I was really worried after game 5. They looked so much like the teams from 03-06 in that game so I was very nervous. Now my nerves get to be taken up a notch with the finals. I'm really hoping they can pull it off. I would almost rather lose in the 2nd or 3rd round than the finals, knowing they were that close. But those two losses will help I think. I was kinda worried that if they went in winning 10 in a row that what would happen if they hit a bump in the road. With Franzen's headaches gone hope he gets cleared to play. The 4 days off now only helps that cause. And hey I won't have to worry about a game 7 on the night of my concert now.

Which makes me question why Bettman thought VS/OLN was better to have than ESPN. So barely being available on VS is better than having less coverage on ESPN? Sounds bad either way to me. So if it were me I would rather be on a station that everyone gets and try to market it aggresively to make it more popular and hope eventually it catches on and ESPN would want to/have to give it better coverage. But thats just my opinion.

He makes valid points but you don't start writing this article until they lose game 5. It was one bad game. It would be like the Pens writers throwing up red flags because Crosby and Malkin didn't score last night. Philly played well for the most part and Pitt didn't. The Wings were ok the two previous games with what they have now. Cleary has had chance the last few games he just hasn't been able to bury them. I'm not worried yet. If they lose tomorrow then they could be in some trouble.

The couple I got the schedule(s) from want it that way too. One of them doesn't have any vacation at all right now and thats the schedule that works out best for them... plus, you have a chance at a cup clinching game that night, or at least a very big game if the series is tied at 2-2.

No problem. I don't want to say the company name just in case this isn't supposed to get out. This person has also seen the said merchandise with the Wings logo on it and says it looks very cool. I'm psyched that most likely I won't have to miss a game 7 for my concert on the 9th. It would be a miracle for both conference finals to go 7.
