My problem was more of the Wings 4th goal. I didn't notice it until Bruce MacLeod said in one of his blog posts, but Ribeiro and Robidas just stop skating and left Richards out there to dry. Especially Robidas you are a d-man and you are watching one of the best players in the league take one of your fowards trying to play D to school.

I think the article is pretty accurate. It's a little bit of everything. The economy and tickets prices being #1, a lot of people expecting a cup and no less don't get excited about the early rounds and they didn't say it directly but people living in the past. I loved Stevie and Shanny and all of those guys, and Stevie will be my favorite player forever but I've moved on. I love watcing Zetterberg and the rest. But there is not doubt in my mind that prices are a big reason. And the people who said those corporate people aren't coming I think thats true too. But the Wings made the money on those very low seats and probably would have a tough time these days to sell them to average people. Most of your upperbowl seats are full right now.

That would be 8-12 days with no hockey on. The NBA is that stupid, in 04 the pistons played game 1 of a series on Sunday I think and game 2 was on Friday, and I know the palace didn't have stuff scheduled for all 4 of those days. If I'm the NHL you get it started and the sooner you do you don't have to compete with the NBA finals. Joe Louis has nothing scheduled until June 10th.

Not totally true. According to mlive if they both sweep the finals start Tuesday, but thats the day game 6 for the pens/flyers is scheduled.

If it ends in 5 then there won't be one on the 31st but I'm 99% sure there will be one on the 31st if it goes past that. Honestly even if both teams don't sweep there will still be one on the 31st. They've always gone Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday as long as I can remember. I feel for you though. Like I said before as long as game 7, if there is one, isn't the 9th I'm happy.

So if you were up 3-0, with a 9 game winning streak, you wouldn't be cocky either? And yeah I think Stu being out was a big loss. I think that last loss killed the Stars. Best game of the series and to lose. They just looked like they died after it went to 4-2. And I even though it's all but done there is still a little nervousness in me. I'm pretty humble these days after blowing 2-0 leads in 99 and 01 plus losing early in 03, 04 and 06. And saying that, this is the best overall team I've seen in this city since 97 and that team was nearly unbeatable.

Yeah it will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays no matter what. As for NBC I don't think they will start covering until game 3, if they do it like they have in the past.

IF they win the cup, I think Drake retires for sure. It's hard on his family and thats why hes here. And what a curtain call that would be. come back to where it started and win a cup. I think it would be time for Cheli to retire and then see what you want to do with Lilja. I resign Stuart if you can. Someone said he hasn't been amazing... what do you want 20 pts out of him in the playoffs? He's now more of a stay at home d-man but a good enough skater where he can jump in the rush and let's not forget what everyone always seems to be bitching about is not having a enough big hitters on the blueline. I think this top 4 they've got now is the best in years. And starting new in goal... yeah the just signed Ozzie to a 3 year deal to trade him away. Ozzie will be in net with either another veteran on a 1 year deal or Jimmy Howard, I want Howard because you gotta see what he can do on more of a full time basis, not being called up and sent down. If he can't do it you deal with that when it comes up. Other than Stuart signing or a #4 dman to replace him if he leaves I would like a little help on the 2nd PP unit. Hudler, Franzen and Cleary are good but you have not set up man. You've got pretty much two guys who will be in front of the net and a sniper. But the way they are playing now it's hard to say what they would need.

Also if the Stars won tonight and had to play 2 of the following 3 at JLA, Turco is 0-9-2 there, odds are in the Wings favor by a great deal.

I would give it a shot if the Stars didn't play their best game the other night and still lose, and they pretty much gave up when they went down 4-2. They played very well and the momentum was going back and forth and then all of a sudden one big mistake and Hudler goes down and scores. I hope it doesn't happen, I don't think it will happen but I guess you never know. The Stars are a little banged up. I'm betting Modano and Morrow are not 100%, Modano with the smelling salts late and Morrow's arm(ouch is all I have to say there), the Wings need to try and get this over tonight. As for the comment by Greenberg, he's obviously not watching. This series would have to take a 100 degree turn for it to happen. 33 years doesn't mean anything if the teams down 3-0 aren't playing that well. I could have seen SJ coming back because they played better in game #3 and barely lost and then slowly got more momentum on their side,I haven't seen that with the Stars, and after winning game 4 they had 2 of the last 3 at home. The Wings would get games 5 & 7 at home. It would be amazing if it happened and just plain awful too.

He's starting to fall behind in Conn Smythe voting now though. Osgood is #1 for me now and Dats & Hank are tied for 2nd.

In the past I know they've had two sets of schedules depending on when series ended. Like if Team A wins in game 6 the series starts this day and if Team B take it to 7 it starts this other day. So if both series are done by Sunday I could see it starting Thursday but no later than Friday of next week. If June 9th is the last possible day for it to end the first game would have to be 2 weeks before that meaning the 26th or 27th of May and I just don't think the NHL would want 8-9 days in between. But we'll see.

I think the parity is there when you look at how close so many teams were in the regular season standings. Calgary was better than a 7th seed and the Flyers were better than a 6th. Look at the teams that have turned around in just a year or two, like the Flyers. I also question if the Pens could be where they are at with no salaray cap because a team like the Wings might have gone and got a Hossa and just stacked their team. While I don't Bettman for the most part I'm glad he got this cap it saved the league as a whole from a financial standpoint. And I sereiously think it helped the Wings. They added key role players and added what they needed not just shopping for as much offense as they could.

I just hope game 7 doesn't end up being on June 9th, or just don't go to 7 at all. Because speaking of concerts I have one that night.

That's the answer right there. Hudler finally has found a spot. The 4th line is playing well so why would you change that?

The last possible day of the finals is June 9th so that would be a May 26th or 27th start day, but I think thats if both teams went 6 or 7, which doesn't look like it will happen. I hope both teams are done in 4-5 and the finals start the 24th.
