oh totally agree. great move by Babs to do that on the road in game 3.
-
Why? Read the last paragraph. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=212106&hubname=nhl Also because the new arena was built there to try and draw in a NBA or NHL team. AND they were courting the Pens when they were looking at relocating. No one here is really saying that where they should move. Its just thats where it seems they will be going.

Is anyone worried that we have not signed any of the 4 ufa yet?

Exactly. Holland has to put the best team out there he can at a good price. He's not going to be able to sign a big name, like Smyth, with all the other factors you mentioned. Markov was a good find at the price and the risk on Hasek was good too. -

That sounds about right. Would love to have Schneider back but to me anything more than 4.5 is too much. And I have faith in Holland. -
Yeah they are still gone. per TSN.ca "DelBiaggio has an agreement with the Anschutz Group to own and operate an NHL franchise in the new arena(Spring Center.)" I could see them moving for sure now, more than before. Because thats how this league is run. We don't want the NHL in Hamilton but going to KC, where a team failed after only 2 seasons before, is ok. Just like going back to Atlanta. Why don't they just put teams in Cleveland, Winnipeg, Hartford, Quebec? Am I missing any other ones? At least some of those would make sense. But KC couldn't handle a team for 2 years. At least it would be keeping them in the West. It would have bugged me a little if the Preds went east and the Wings were still stuck in the west.

They did great together up until the Duck and then he broke them up in game 3 and that worked too. I am fine either way. I could live with Flip at center and then trade deadline time, if thats not working, pick someone up if possible.
-
the cap will stop going up eventually and begin to level off. I would love to see Smyth here but Hank is going to get big bucks in 2 years and you have to plan for that and other raises. It would be hard to keep them around. Not worth it in my mind. The future is more of a concern now than in the past. And I agree some people got spoiled from summers of 01-03.
-
Like what most people have said they don't know what the wings plans are with Zetterberg and Dats are and not sure if they want Flip there yet. I am excited to see what they will do.

No Original 6 team should be moved ever, especially just because their ower is stupid, ie Chicago & Boston. I would move Fla. to Hamilton though.
-
No I don't see them being good. Better I think, you can't be much worse, but still not there.
-
Wow is all I have to say. Didn't see this coming. I didn't really think letting Hartnell and Timonen go was the start of a firesale, just that it was trying to get something for 2 guys they knew they weren't going to sign. But this seems more like it now. Mason is good so maybe they felt he was better. Good move for Fla though imo. Gave up a lot to get him but they really needed help in goal.
-
Sucks for any Sens fans who thought Roberts would be going their way...........again. Good for the Pens though I think. Keeping thos vets around.
-
Some team will pick him up. Wings don't need him. Florida and Tampa and maybe even Atl might be in the market for a goalie. He'll land somewhere.
-
I agree. don't risk the Leafs having a good year, cause you never know. Take it now.
-
Good move by the Leafs. Got a good goalie in my mind, and a cheap one salary-wise at that. And the winger Bell will help too.
-
He got $9mil from the Stars. I can't blame them for letting him go. Allison was a mistake for sure and Lapointe. The Bruins have made poor choices in where to spend there money and where not to. I think they have a GM now that maybe can get them fixed up and they just need to try and make that team better. It will take time some time.

5 on 3 early in the third of game 4 with the game tied at 3 would have been huge. Or one PP in game 5. It sucks they were that close. And I do believe Schneider was the one guy. He would have helped on the PP but depth wise would have been even more helpful in my mind.

1. Chicago - that one's easy. 2. Florida, hasn't made the playoffs since what 2000? And boy does that trade of Luongo seem bad now. 3. Boston. Ownership was too cheap for too long and when they did spend money didn't do it wisely enough. Marty Lapointe 5.25 mil but didn't want to give Jason Allison just over 6mil? Granted Allison ended up getting hurt not long after getting to LA but thats knowing it now. at the time though that was stupid. 4. Coyotes. They just couldn't get things right. At least they keep trying to get the right people in there. 5. Blue Jackets. I was hoping MacLean could get the job done but he didn't. That team just never did anything. Adam Foote for the money he got when they had nothing else? They could have done more with that money imo. 6. I wanna throw Philly in cause Bobby Clarke was so stuck in his, this team needs to play like my team did back in the 70's, mentality that it hurt his team. They were big and slow and the smaller faster Wings took care of them easily in 97 and Bobby never tried to fix that. Stayed with the big guys always. Another honorable mention is Washington.

I don't like it because the government is trying to make up for their mistakes. And where is this tax money gonna go? If they said it was going to go to improving schools and/or roads then fine. But who knows where it will go. And probably 95% of the world uses ticketbastard for their tickets and are already spending like $10 per ticket "convenience" charge and then processing charges or whatever and now we will have to pay more money? I consider myself a democrat and I am still against this tax. This doesn't help the citizens get their jobs back after being laid off or anything. Is it going to create jobs? They need to come up with something else.

I figured it out and I'm right. Because Lidstrom made 7.6 in 06 and the cap was 38 mil and thats 20%.
-
I believe you can have one playera at 20% of the cap. So if the cap ends up at 49 the top end is 9.8 mil. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.
-
Brad Stuart is in Calgary.
-
He got, repotedly 6mil a year for 4 years. If it got into a bidding war he might have been able to get a little more because some stupid gm would throw money at him but not really surprised. Bryzgolov will be gone most likely now though. Someone will get a steal salary-wise with him.
-
I agree the Wings are right there and kinda need to see what they can do to make that extra push this coming year. Eventually they will take a little step backwards when Lidstrom retires and they hand the starting goalie job over to Howard. There's no getting around it. Not saying they are going to be bad but they should try to win it now without hurting their future if they can. I think he would be great here but it'll be tough imo.

I like it. I've become used to the fact that they dark ones are home and honestly don't want them to change it back.
