Ah sorry. Thought you meant him winning it this year would be a disgrace.
-
Does it insult him as well since he won it in 2000?
-
I liked the article. I agree for the most part. I like what Stevie and Shanny did all their years here. But it was time to move on. I mean I still think Stevie could have gone one more year but his body just wasn't there anymore. He had been hurt a lot over the last few years. As for Shanny he would have held them back had he stayed, and he pretty much said that when he left. That would have been 4 mil they could have spent elsewhere where they needed it. Shanny had a great playoff this year I think the change of venue is what he needed too. He only had 3 goals over the last 3 playoffs. I like how the Wings have had a quiet change of the guard. With guys slowly going away and not the blowing up that many teams in pro sports do, ie the Chicago Bulls of the lat 90's.

Many people in here might be overconfident and cocky but I don't see the Wings being that way. If they are they are only hurting themselves. They need to be thinking they are down 2-1 and need to win. I didn't realize Pronger was their leading scorer with 12 points in the playoffs. This will be the toughest game of the series for both teams. justtheducks sounds very overconfident. The Wings don't have anything to play for? How about a 3-1 lead and a chance to win the west on sunday on home ice? how about making sure the Ducks don't get any momentum built up with a win and letting them tie the series. It will be the farthest thing from a blowout either way. I am very anxious for this game to get underway. The Wings really do need to try and take advantage of Pronger being out. You're right they were missing those guys in the regular season game in Detroit. Hey also the Sharks beat the Wings 9-4 in one game and won the season series 1-3. That game in January means just as much as the 4 games against the Sharks.

If they favored the wings more people would be picking them to win it. No one on espn had the wings getting by SJ and only one had them getting by the Ducks. They don't favor the Wings on Vs. either imo.
-
I was surprsied to see him back in there. I watched the game at my parents house and mMy dad has to get up early to go to work and he stayed up with me, even though the game was 4-0, to see what his status was and we were both shocked to see him out there. Homer looked down and out right after he got hit. I was worried.
-
Very good read and I agree too.
-
I think he felt that him and Neids were going after him on purpose and that the Ducks were being sore losers. But I Agree you can't lump the whole team in there. unless it's the Flames. Yeah. The first two rounds no one gave the Wings respect and this round no one did either. So the media on their side is a surprise.
-
Probably by the end of the night I would think. They are having the hearing today.
-
yeah I heard Boss this morning. He was really upset about it. He said he lost all respect for the Ducks as a team. Can't wait to get in my car in an hour and listen to them on the way home.
-
That is a very good point. I forgot about that. Yeah Fischers suspension was weak compared to what Pronger did, imo.
-
He did not seem like himself last night. He missed Filpulla on his goal and I think Franzen on his. Those aren't things he usually does.
-
I have no idea what to expect. But I do agree if he's suspended for tomorrows game it is a must win now kinda game. You have to take advantage of something like that. Kinda what the Sharks didn't do when Schneider went down. And it's a must win for me now cause I have tickets to game 5 and would love to see them take the west.

Actually that was 98 when Michigan won in hockey. But same thing happened to the Wings that year.
-
yeah its fun we can even talk about it. 10 years ago the pistons lost to the Hawks in round one, the tigers were awful and the Wings were the only team that was fun to watch as they were just about to start the WCF against the Avs. Chances of winning go this way Pistons (after last night it looks like not getting to the finals would be a bad year now) Wings (underdogs by most of the people in the hockey world for the 3rd straight round but are playing well) Tigers (Season is just so long with so many team and not many teams make the playoffs) As for whoever said they would have to get through the Yanks or Sox(red) to ge there. They go past the Yanks last season and the yanks were playing good, as of right now there pitching is worse off than the tigers. The BoSox are good but they don't scare me for some reason. White Sox and Indians are the teams to watch out for this year, imo, the big reason being they are in the same division. At most only 2 of them can make the playoffs.
-
I believe you are correct. How much fun would it have been to be a Knicks and Rangers fan in NYC that year? Even with the loss by the Knicks.
-
Just like how the Pistons couldn't beat the Lakers in 04? How did that series go? And the Pistons took the Spurs to 7 the year after that. The Suns are tough though but I think they can stay with them. As for all of them winning it all? It will be tough. I think Pistons have best chance based on the way they are playing. Even though Ben is gone the Pistons seem better in a lot of ways. The Tigers? Its such a long season you can't judge anything until the playoffs, if they make it. I mean when they went into the playoffs against the Yankees I thought it would be over quick the way that the Tigers were playing going into the playoffs, and obviously I was wrong. And the Wings have a tough matchup now in the WCF and then to have to play the Sens or Sabres if they get to the SCF, tough road ahead either way.
-
First just to correct you it was 6 games, not a sweep. Not like it matters they still lost but just letting you know. And don't put too much stock in all that time off. Sometimes it goes against the team with the rest. Having to get their game back. Not saying it will hurt the Ducks or it will help them but you never know. I've seen teams sweep the first round and play a team that went 6 or 7 and the team that went longer ended up kicking the other team around. This should be a good series, I hope anyways.

Scott Cullen on TSN.ca now has his pick of the Ducks in 5. I think I have only seen like 2 media members picking the Wings. And the Ducks could very well win this series but in 5? I just don't see that happening. I think this series is going 6 or 7 and I'm not sure who will win it. Most people haven't given the wings a chance at all in these playoffs so far. Its amazing how early playoff exits will make people think that you don't have a chance in any series. Usually when that happens is when the team that isn't expected to win does win. Just like last series with the Sharks. I hope that trend continues. GO WINGS!!

Its not a fair to compare who you would sign from the two. Bertuzzi won't be able to get the money Smyth will so salary wise they are not comparable. If you had 5.5 mil to spend and Smyth was gonna take that price and so would Bert you take Smyth I think. But Bert is going to be cheaper and I still think he can be a very good player here. Don't judge on what hes done this year so far. I don't think hes even played 30 games yet, including the playoffs. I would like to see him 100% at the start of the season and go through the year getting chemistry with these guys.
-
I echo this, well the part I left in. I . But this is what happens when a team or anything else, gets popular. People think things should be done a certain way or a certain player needs to be doing more. Its amazing how people call themselves fans and can rip someone apart the way they do. Bert might not be doing much on the score sheet but give the guy a break. Hes barely played all year. Who you gonna put in, Hudler? I like him but hes too small for this series. Langfeld? Yeah hes comparable to what Bert can do. a lot of people had this team done against the Flames, even more against ths Sharks and now they are a win away from the West Finals for the first time in 5 years and people want something to ***** about. Is anything ever good enough? What are they supposed to do go 16-0 and every player have 8 goals each in the playoffs? Just appreciate the run they are on. This is the most fun I've had since 97. 98 I knew they were going to win and after the Canucks in 02 I just had that feeling, not as much but still a bit. Just enjoy it. If they lose they lose but it won't be for a lack of effort.

The Wings will be beat up and it will make the Ducks a challenge if the Wings get there. But I was just thinking the other day back in 2001 the Avs lost Forsberg to that injury just before the west finals against the Blues and the Blues were rolling into the 3rd round. I thought that the avs would stuggle. I mean Forsberg was a top 3 forward for them. All the Avs did was win in 5 and then take the Devils in 7 to win the cup. Not saying the Wings will do this but it's amazing what a team can do. And yeah the Wings could have those d-men pairings but how do you know they play as well together as they are doing right now? Obviously talent wise it would be better but the 7 guys who have played so far in these playoffs have been great.
-
Its not totally the NHL. Yes they screwed up by going with NBC and it was a bad deal for them but its NBC who is screwing you over on this one right now. And the sad thing is more people will watch the derby then will watch the hockey game.
-
Better than rushing it. It could get worse if you do that. I think they can deal a game without him. Could be worse news I suppose.
-
If you mean worked out with a cup then it was 98 with Macoun. he worked out very nicely. The Schneider deal has worked out well even though they haven't won the cup. As for the injuries I would rather see Bert sit out a game and not risk it. But looks like Hank will be playing. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/weblog/index..._04.html#247829 I would rather see Hudler on the line with Lang and Calder because I think it would be better for Hudler. But Samuelson will work up on that line too.
