The Detroit Red Wings were among the teams interested in unrestricted free agent defenseman Johnny Oduya. According to two separate sources, the Red Wings reached out to Oduya last week, but the veteran blueliner appears set on returning to the Chicago Blackhawks. Meanwhile, Wings GM Ken Holland is believed to be exploring the trade market for a second- or third-line forward. He could go after one of the remaining unrestricted free agent forwards, if he can sign one at an affordable rate. taken from the TFP, if this is the case youve gotta believe Kenny has something else up his sleeve that may make us all sit up and take note.

If a deal is in the pipeline for bringing in a #1/2 D you can bet your house O or Marchy will be in that deal. The day Big E and Q are our 3rd pairing is the day we'll be a legit contender, until then it is what it is.

I've said before we should use Howard in a deal to get that top D we need. I just get the feeling that Kenny won't pay the price to get any of the top ufa D that are out there, so unfortunately the D ain't gonna change any despite of all the bull Kenny has been sprouting about the need to upgrade our blue line.

dont be too surprised if we make an offer to Jimmy Hayes, Blash has worked with him in the USA jnr set up, could complement our 3rd/4th line with abit of size.

i think Marchy will be in as Blashill rates him highly, maybe we move Smith in a deal and get to bring up Ouellete as well. Babs wouldnt want 2 rookies on his roster but maybe Blas will. I see us going after Soderberg in a big way and Id like us to try and get Sustr if he isnt a RFA that is. I think overall is that we'll not get dragged into a bidding war with the other teams for the UFA's D out there and were more likely to get a top D in a trade. And with Babs now in TO there's no way they'll take Weiss in any sort of deal. So new trading partner needed in the Weiss situation or Blashill could give him a fresh start and see how he produces.

The Bertuzzi kid could be fast tracked onto the 4th line.Got a feeling Babs might want Glendening to follow him to the Leafs, which could open up a spot.

Larkin could be a future Capt, it's all down to numbers and how the new coach sees it. I mean he may give Weiss a chance and Kindl could get a better look than he did under Babs. If somehow the Wings can get Larkin on the roster for part of the season then they will. Hell start at GRs thou as unless we see several player departures there just isnt a space for him from the off.
