Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams
Andy Pred 48 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I still get the feeling that if Kenny tells Babs that the front office are going to make a few splashes in the off season then I think he stays. With no guarantee of pulling any major signings off its still a gamble for Babs to stay or go.Unless Mrs Babs holds the aces I think Babs is gone but to where ? A couple of top signings and we become a genuine contender next year, really can see why it's a difficult decision for him to make. -
: the Wings will make moves on the blue line I can guarantee all of you on that front.
-
This is the guy the Wings should go for. Good size solid 2way puts up the numbers and would be our 2 line centre. Would fit in with the rest of the Swedwings. Have him with Tats and Nyqvist on the 2nd leaving Pav Hank and Abbey on the top line. Sheahan moves to centre the 3rd and Glendenning as the centre on the 4th line. Fill out the rest of the bottom six with who you like.

Larkin looks a very smooth skating 200' 2 way centre, havent seen much of him but am taking in todays Slovenia game and so far he's been on against Kopitar's line for most of the first period.

Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

the fact he is looking at other options to me means he is on his way. If you are happy in your job/work you dont go looking for alternative employment. Im not saying he shouldnt do it, it just sends me negative vibes that he'll be here next season. The wings front office have stopped any team from talking to Blashill which also sends the signal to me that they fear Babcock is on his way and they want Blashill as his sucessor. Babcock works with the AHL roster pre-season only so i dont see how that warrants 10 years!?, anyway im not here to argue mute points just expressing my feelings on the situation that has arisen. But if Babcock is still the Redwings head coach come Sept then ill be very surprised. -
With the UFA pool looking thin this year will the front office look further afield and see if we can pick up a steal from Europe's league's. Maybe with our recent experiences with Lino ,Brunner and Brunnstrom we may be a little wary of it but I really think there are some very good players that are under the radar in the top euro league's. I was singing the praises of Panarin early this year and someone in the Blackhawks org saw the same as me and signed him up. There are others and more than a few who could help on the blue line.

He's as good as gone in my view. If he wanted to stay why look at what others have to offer, may look a classy move by the Wings but it's less than classy by Babcock by actually doing it. Give Blashill the gig and tell Babs the contract offer is off the table. We can then move on with a good young up and coming coach who knows first hand what we have in the minors and won't be unsure as how to use them. -
How about trading for Phaneuf and picking up Green on the UFA a front, job done?
-
not doing too bad at the Worlds so far
-
Offer Green a contract , trade for Phaneuf and see if Chiasson is interested in coming to Detroit.

We are going to have one maybe 2 D up from GR next season. I do see a big change in the D corps for 2015/16 and I wouldn't rule out seeing some unforseen changes happening either. The D does need a shake up if we are going to be serious contenders next year.

Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"
Andy Pred 48 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The prospect of seeing Larkin having Mantha and AA on his wings in the not too distant future has me very excited indeed. -
i think that we'll now see a real youth movement within the main roster. We have some very good prospects coming up and some that no one seems to mention. Wouldnt be at all surprised to see Nosek up the depth chart next year. We have goal scorers in GR but can we fit them in? Pulks needs to be up full time and although Mantha has had his growing pains in the A can we really afford to leave him in the A another year. Id really like to see Athanasiou get a look as well, then we have the likes of Callahans gritty in your face style that we have been missing for the past few years. It looks like young Bertuzzi is in the same ilk and must be impressing by getting a spot on GR's playoff roster over a few vets. My main concern is not the pool of talent we have in the minors, its what do we do with our underperforming veterans ? I doubt many teams will want to take on some of them due to their play and with others the contracts that comes with them. In an ideal situation it would be easy, but then again if they had been producing then we wouldn't have them on the to-go list so to speak.

well i think the Hawks just got a steal, really good player in my view but we shall see if he can cut it.
-
Gonna sleep on it and get back with a few suggestions, some may not be popular thou.
-
Who can they send to GR ?
-
game 4 will haunt us, I can only see a Tampa blow out Lightning by 3.
-
Well the boys done good since getting the nod over more senior players during the playoffs.
-
Oh yeah even Kenny wouldn't have dealt Backstrom for Cole lol
-
Sure that wasn't about Malykhin?
