look, Sammy got $3m outta Ken, surely we could have took a gamble, i think even i could get more than 4pts in 2 years on the roster !! Its a 3 year deal as well, he's a great skater and strong on them. 5'11" & 200lb 2 way center only 23 yrs old. He may be a bit of an unknown commodity but sometimes its worth the risk.

So we are looking for that great r/h shot from the blueline but who have we actually had that has been a standout in that role during the past 20 years. Rafalski was a high point scorer and maybe the only one that stands out. Cheli was at the end of his career and not putting up big numbers during his stint on the Wings blueline. So maybe as far back as Murph in the late 90's as the last one. So why is it all of a sudden a top situation for the brass to address? I say we go with the best available D man we can get and wait for Sproul and Marchenko to come thru. Please dont waste money on a guy who's only produced once so far in his NHL stint.

sign Vanek or Gaborik as UFA top 6 fwd, if not trade for Kesler. trade for Edler as the top 2 Dman we need. pick up Ondrej Nemec from the KHL for the Vet needed on D. ( played great in the Worlds and a top class skater) also R/H.

well Kenny did say that he's had chats with GM's who have thrown some interesting names at him. Spezza, Kesler and Marchand are names that have been floated about would we be interested in any of them ? Does anyone really think that Kenny is going to surprise us with a trade or 2 at the draft party?

no thanks the Pens can keep Letang on his 21/22 contract. He now has the health issue's which should be a stay clear off, which Kenny hasnt in the past and has lost us many man/ games in players out due to re-occurring injuries. i'd sooner us trade with Buffalo : Myers, Foligno and Stewart for ?

Kenny will not pay the price that Niskanen will end up getting no way on earth! This is why i think ( i dont agree) he'll go after Boyle on a short term deal. I also think that he will try and trade for an upgrade on the blueline as he may get a better player by going that route anyway. My own take on it, a cheeky offer sheet to Justin Schultz and offer Matt Greene would take to come home and play the vet role on the bottom pairing for his final years 2-3 year deal.

why do some want Boyle? the guy is on the decline, he posted the worst +- on the Sharks D last year he'll be 38 by the start of the coming season and there's a reason that San Jose are letting him go, so why take on other teams not wanted? Niskanen has had 2 good season's in his NHL stint. His first year in Dallas and his last one in Pittsburgh, which happens to be his contract year. He's a R/H shot and fairly young at 27 with almost 500 reg games under his belt. He is not the #1 guy that the Wings seek. Id say a #2/3 at the most and we have those within the organisation. Trading is the only way we'll get a #1 D guy this year and next years (2015) UFA list doesn't offer much either. I doubt very much that Kenny will be looking at a trade for a big name player, but the guys that he should look at Weber, Keith, Pietrangelo, etc will be too dear for him. A vet player thats an upgrade on Quincey would be the way to go on a year maybe 2 at max deal and let the rookie's fight it out for the 6/7 spots. Id have no problem letting Marchenko come up full time. UFA's: Tom Gilbert, Nikita Nikitin, Anton Stralman, and maybe Ron Hainsey would be Kronwall DeKeyser Smith Nikitin Ericsson Marchenko Kindl/Lashoff whoever isnt traded.

Only played a few games over here in the A but he looks like he could do a job for us, Vet D R/H shot 6' 203lb used on the PP and ave over 22min for the Czech side. Ondrej Nemec.

no thanks,he's a lefty and Babs doesn't rate him and that contract is for another 6 years. The Wings are doing a deal with the Canadiens not the Leafs.

Mantha will be on the roster before xmas, I'd give him a spot on Pav and Z's line getting him to learn what it takes from the best 2 guys he could. They'll make him see what it takes to be the best and that its a 2 way game in Detroit. The kid is just what this team needs a 6'5" 200lb+ scoring winger. Babs didn't travel all the way to Val'd or for nothing, and from all accounts he liked what he saw.

2 more goals last night although Val d'or drops the game in OT. thats 22 goals in 21 playoff games, think we may have something here

all joking apart, Ovie could actually be in play. God knows what it'd take to get Ovie thou, although I'm not sure it'd be a good idea. my choice would be to try and get Vanek as the top 6 guy. then i'd beef up the fourth line with either Marcus Foligno or Zack Kassian (both ideally) then add a cheeky contract offer to Justin Shultz for the D. Pick up Matt Greene as the vet exp on the D. Vanek Datsyuk Nyqvist Zetterberg Weiss Franzen Abdelkader Helm Tatar Kassian Sheanhan Foligno Miller Glendening Jurco Kronwall Schultz DeKeyser Smith Ericsson Marchenko Greene Howard Gustavsson. All ufa's let go bar Monster. Trade or waive Lashoff, Kindl Andersson in any deals that we can. Jurco and Glendening could go back to GR if need be.
