just one question for all the pessimist's out there, just who was the last sure thing or real deal we did actually draft? I would dare to say we could say Martin Lapointe back in '91so id argue that we have got a potential replacement for both Z and Pav, they just havent arrived at the big club yet. Its a wait a see exercise.
-
maybe he'll come back with Stevie Y
-
id sit Lash/Kindl and give Alexei another 2 games see how he handles playing against big body rosters. We cant see us getting anything out of these games so give him some ice time and we can judge a bit better what we have coming up.
-
how about just Miller for Howard? This would give both players the chance to play for their home state team. We should sound Miller out about a 2 year deal at the end of his current contract thus giving Mrazek 2 years as back up before taking over the starters role, i just think Kenny overpaid Howard and the deal was to long.
-
he does a solid job on a checking line and is a reliable player for the coach. Nothing flash just hard gritty and plays a good team game.

sorry for causing such a who-har but i was just using the nick name id seen used on other threads. didnt think anyone could get that upset over such a trivial thing! Maybe some fans should be more interested in our prospects while they are in the farm teams and not just when they are called up to Detroit. ps. Bannedforlife, you certaintly made a point there eh?

looks like Kenny is going to have some work to do this summer. lots of guys out of waiver options, others could be moved on that are on long trem contracs. if Sproul and Mantha have a balls out camp will Kenny and Babs back up the joke of a statement that the best players will play?

Orgurtsov iced for CSKA in the recent spenglar cup, physical young D who clears the net. Carried the puck out of his zone alot but also didnt get caught in possession when doing so. Likes to play the body also has a great reach. Very raw project but his size is maybe worth taking a shot for some team.

do any of us feel we need a deal to put us back amongst the elite sides in the show? i kinda feel we have drifted out of the top 6 teams in the last 3 years and dont see us getting back into the elite with what we have and what we have got in the minors in the near future. i have said in another thread that i would put Howard out there and package him with a top prospect and draft pick to see what we could get. any thoughts or suggestions ? or do you feel we are still a elite side.

Nail Yakupov, as told to Igor Larionov...or not.

looks like the kid could be in play, any coincedence that he trained in the D pre season? maybe the professor has a cunning plan up his sleeve......... who was the last 1st overall pick to be a flop? maybe the closest was Patrick Stefan but he did play ovet 400 games so i guess its what you class as a flop. Point is never give up a chance to ****** a overall pick if one is being offered. Id take Yakupov if he is available, but at what cost? -
justice for the Finns, talk about homer refs. The Blackhawks got a future star there.

it was about time Jimmy won one for them thou

hes a keeper in my book. any rookie who gets paired with Q on debut and returns a +2 is doing something right! Also Q ended with +3, so there you go. Hes got a good stick a nice outlet pass and kept it simple. Had just over 13 mins, and im sure that will rise as the west coast trip goes on and Babs starts to trust him. I think he could rise to a #4 but would be more than useful on the bottom pairing on a regular basis.

We all seem to have our own fav/best lines , so just as abit of fun list your own 4 lines from the past 25 years (88/89). The only rule is that each line should be, 1 all USA born, 2 all Canada born, 3 all Scandinavian born and 4 all rest of Europe born. Each line has a N/M as well as 2 D and 3 Fwd's.
-
Im sure he came straight into the side from the Russian league, no AHL stop for him. And if my memory is correct didnt he have #55?
-
yeah why did Bykov play just a season?
-
if you go on + - then he seems ok. Pulkkinen, Callahan, Marchenko and Sproul lead the Griffs with +15.
-
with Big E out and now DD for a spell, will Kenny look for some vet help in the market place or hope we can get by with what is in effect 1 top two D and 5/6 4-7 rate D, this coming string of away games could make or break our playoff run.
-
ok so thats 2 just need another 3 for the new R5
-
maybe Kenny has done a deal involving one of our D? Anyway Sproul is more a Top 4 offensive prospect, Alexey is a5-7 type at present. Im really pleased for him , of course it could have something to do with Alexey already had iced nearly 100 times in the KHL and has the exp over Sproul.

ok guys i thought it was a sraightforward bit of fun here, lets say which country they played for and also they must have iced for the Wings from the 88/89 reg season. Scandinavia, Finland Norway Iceland Denmark and Sweden. Thought i clear thatvup as well. Try and take it as fun guys we have enough serious topics with the way the Wings are currently performing.

great spectacle for the game, but the bottom line is we dropped below the leafs in the standings and missing the playoffs is starting to look a reality more so now. i just hope we can get a settled consistant side for the final 20 games. -
never mind that the Swiss are beating the Finns 3-2 in the 3rd. all over Nucks win
