Nucks are taking calls on Edler, could we be in play here? the non signing of Smith so far may have something to do with it, and I can see Jensen pushing someone in camp this coming season, maybe the front desk see Jensen as a more reliable D with offence than Smith has been so far, question is have we got enough to tempt the Nucks?

Tatar and Smith I believe.

aint the price always too much for Kenny !! lol

Big Mckee will put them on the right track!

the Wings wanted Zadorov so I guess they picked up an extra pick for not getting him.

great news, now go out and get him a bonifid scoring winger Kenny! -
unless Kenny packages some 2/3 roster guys in a deal then we can pretty much look at the same team as last years say for the addition of 1 UFA at tops. I think we are a top 6 scorer and a top 2 D short of being a legit contender next year. but whos out there ?

I would just like to add to this post from a more than happy Redwing fan across the pond. Yes I was bitterly disappointed with the game 7 ot loss as I am sure you all were. But I was more than pleased with the way the boys have fought thru all of this years problems and extended the season 14 more games than I think most of us didn't think would happen. When we look at the whole picture, I truly believe that we are 1 top 6 forward and a scoring D away from being a real legit contender next year. The biggest plus is that Babs is giving the young guns a chance to shine and this none more evident than the past few games when he has gone with youth over Sammy Bert and Ian. This may be a sign of things to come next year. Its too early to start be predicting next years roster changes and additions, but the future does look bright and the exp they young uns have gained this year will be invaluable. Well done boys rest up and next year will be even better Im sure of it.

injured Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

babs has stated that , No Dan De then no playoffs. I feel that that may be a quote that will be repeated after this series, the Wings just cant buy any good luck. I think Cola will get the nod, vet with a bit of size. White is just to small and a liability too often. -
I could see one of the prospects, McKee or Nedomlel making the change, as it would give us a heavyweight enforcer on the team. But not the 2 mentioned in the posters topic.

De and Smith will be a great pairing. De is responsible on the back end and Smitty given the freedom will be very good offensively. Plus they are both great skaters and can get back in the play on a breakdown. They would complement each over very well. In all honesty I would say that White goes in the summer, we cant keep 9 guys happy and Lashoff will be the 7th D next year. My concern is the lack of output from Quincey this year. Kenny was banking on him to put up decent numbers but this hasn't happened. Nic jnr needs to really tighten up as well. Although one of the top point D men in the league his defence has been less than impressive this term. With the talent we have in the pipeline on D, it wouldn't surprise me if Kronner was used in a deal to land us that out and out scorer we so badly need.He is also our lightest D man, and the Wings D in 2-3 years will all be over 6'2" and 200lb + which is what our coach really wants. Dark horse Jensen hasn't been mentioned yet as I think he'll be given a season in Grand Rapids, but he has a great set of wheels and will fit in well with the direction our D corp seems to be heading. So for me id be happy to let the 10-12 guys we have fight it out for the spots and see what transpires in the off season. Who knows we may have a D looking like this in 14-15. Dekeyser Smith Kindl Jensen Sproul Ericsson Lashoff Ouellete

you lot make me laugh, we played a great road game against a team that was looking like they wanted a shootout from the puck drop. what do you think their goalie is gunna do eh ? just let us score? hes paid to stop the puck the same as Jimmy. As far as the shootout goes its a complete crapshoot. Id sooner they play another 5 min ot 3 on 3 as the pen shot saga is a garbage way to win or lose games. You should win as a team and loose as a team, not this one on one crap. Anyway, win the next 3 home games and we'll be in the dance. Our D is looking just fine lately and if Kenny gets his head outta of his ass and signs us 2 bonifide scoring forwards we'll be set next season as well. Sproul played his first game for the Griffs tonight and the opposing play by play guys were drooling over him every shift he was out, and has he got a shot from the point or what! they were also biggin up Pulkkinen on his debut as well, as to where the Redwings find these guys. Future looks good.

it'll all get sorted out in the offseason..................................I hope!

Danny and Smith could be the perfect match for the Wings future 2nd pairing.

out of the 80 goalies that have iced in the NHL this year Elliott is ranked 40th to our Jimmys 10th position. Just thought id let you all know as we seem to make him look like Roy, saying that how may other back ups or rookie keepers have our inept forwards made to look like Allstars......or is that just me?
-
I still think we will make the playoffs by the skin of our teeth, but Kenny has really got to get us a scoring winger and a bonifide #1 D for next season. Plenty of effort tonight but we just dropped a place in the standings and teams around us have games in hand. We need a least 5 wins from our remaining games to make the post season.

of all the deadline signings that were made, how many will hit FA at the seasons end and do you think that the Wings will try and sign any of them? ie Bouwmeester maybe not re-signing for the Blues and Clowe trying the market too.

hey slow down buddy, I get the non man love for Kenny from you, but Im just stating what will be on his CV. And believe me 'luckiest GM' wont be on it that's a fact. For your info, he was appointed joint GM with Scotty and Jim on the 3rd June 1994 and was made GM on the 18th July 1997, that makes it 1997 as far as I can work it out, I get the concept we had won the cup before his appointment, but he was GM in 1997. 2002 he went and got the best because back then we could in a un-capped era so he got luck again I take it? 2008 was based on Hakan drafting all the euro talent, that when all said and done is vetted by the other front office guys at draft day. The Redwings aren't the only team that brings back former players after letting them go. So its not a unique trend on the Wings part. I doubt the fan base have accepted mediocrity but they may have finally understood what the cap era is all about. I truly wish we were in a position to trade for elite talent, but our own success has put us in the situation we are in now, not having the pieces to tempt other teams without given up some of our stars in what would be a like for like trade. That isn't worth doing however you look at it. -

3.70GAA and 0.870% , are these the stats of a winner? possably not. 4 Stanley Cups in 15 years as sole GM are the stats of a winner. Kenny may not be everyones cup of tea but he aint the worst GM out there. I would say 97% of us knew he would more or less stand pat this year but we still hold out hope that that blockbuster deal will happen for us. But its fun at playing the GM role and moaning when 'our' cant lose deal doesn't happen. On a positive note, we are starting to look pretty stacked at the back and a lot bigger than in previous years. A couple of additions up front and we'll be there or thereabouts for many years to come. Contender? not just yet but in 2-3 years I can see us being a major force again. -

Wings in play for JayBo but rumours abound that Yandle is now available for the right price!? -
So with 10 D now signed does Kenny still try and grab a top 2 D or will he now try and get that forward to make a push in the playoffs? I like the way we seem to be going with the young D corps that could get younger next year, should Kenny follow suit and target a young top 6 forward to grow with the roster or will he go for an established vet up front? Long term then i wouldnt mind him going for a young gun as i dont fell adding a vet/stud up front would make us any more capable of winning stanley than if we stood pat. Ive read on the 4th period site that Kenny is still looking for a top 6 and a depth fwd as well as a top D. Looking at the situ he does have the pieces to pull off a deal but i doubt 3 of them.Would we lose too much in doing so. I really feel that Flip is in play along with White and maybe some of the prospects that we wouldnt want to trade. So could he make us better than what we have now? I hope im wrong but i get a feeling that Bert may be done and if so targeting a similar type player is a must. We are getting bigger on the back end but sure could do with having a couple more bigger bodies up front. The cost for one of these would be high so maybe trying to get a so called Kenny project type player would be a cheaper option but not necessarily a guarantee fix. Ryan Clowe's production has dropped off this year and maybe a change of scenery would benefit him and San Jose. Or how about a Kenny special and bring back Shawn Matthias? The guy is having a great year is a big body and is the only player with a + rating on a poor Panthers team. Either way i think Kenny will pull off a deal and hopefully one with the long term Wings in mind more than the short term gain. D, either Zach Bogosian or Cody Franson both young and RH shots to fit in with hopefully the youth movement Kenny is creating. Fwd's, Blake Wheeler or Chris Stewart ( I know pipe dream) Reclaim project that could be a steal from the Flames, Akim Aliu big kid with attitude but needs kick up the ass to get his game in line.Could be the heavy weight agitator we lack at present. Toots is a middleweight when all said and done.

unless Ovie has stated he wants a move and we all of a sudden get 23yr old Lids and Feds back on the roster, ill smoke some of that too!!! honestly i would be asking around for offers for Kronwall NTC, Filppula,White, Abdelkader and Gustavsson NTC. Maybe we could package some for a young stud up front. Unless we get a genuine first pair D then Kronner wont get any better believe me. If we did manage to get either JBo, Franson or Bogosian I would off load Kronner. Really I would do it, I believe we have better players in the pipeline. Getting one of these wouldnt make us any worse than we are now and offer longer value (ie alot younger than Kronner). Kronner, Abdelkader and Fippula packaged could get us that sniper that we badly need. Andersson is a ready replacement for Abdelkader, Jarnkrock or Nyqvist will be just as good if not better than Filppula and if we pick up one of the above D then thatll cover Kronner going. Lets get this roster younger and bigger, the D has gotten bigger this year and have even bigger prospects down the line. The forward department needs 2/3 bigger bodies and unless we trade for them we havent got them in the minors for next year at least.
