the really frightening thing is that I could have suited up and not looked outta place on todays roster!! put it to bed, tomorrow is another day, i expect a backlash and 2 points against the Avs. Nyqvist to play hopefully on a top 6 role.

if this aint showing kenny the lack of firepower we have i dont know what will. No Z and you take dats out then boy oh boy are we in trouble down the line. cant understand why when we know Z is out they scratch Nyqvist when he could have been given a more offensive role.

if he doesnt sign with the Wings it isnt the end of the world. we have a really deep pool of prospects at D and i would hazard a guess that one or two of the lower draft picks are going to be a big plus. None more so than fellow NCAA player Nick Jensen, who in my view has got on with his job quitely over the past 3 years and has until this years awards, gone under the radar. Sproul and Ouellet have been drawing all the plaudits but keep a close eye on Backman and the dark horse Marchenko.

its just a numbers game here, when all the fwds are healthy all 3 will be back in GR to hopefully give the farm team a real chance at winning the Calder. On the other hand the Nyqvist Andersson and Tatar line dominated in the A and put as a 3rd line in the show im sure would be more than most other teams could cope with. it is frustrating for Tats and the fans but im looking at this from the front office point of view. next year we will see a younger faster and more talented roster than we have now, that im sure of.

Zach Boychuk is on waivers again, not exactly a PF though eh! Get Pav Yevgeni Artyukhin and Mikhail Varnakov as his wingers.

Outplayed in the first 20 when it looked like boys against men, but due credit to the guys for picking it up and playing much better the last 40. What some on here fail to realise or admit is that the Hawks are a very good side and we stayed with them. The shotout is just a who gets lucky day. If Mule hadnt have hit the post its all over at 2-0 with 4 min to play. I just hope we either get some forward back on Pavs line wholl help him more, or trade for one. Abs and Cleary are grinders doing a good job shutting down the opp line but not creating as much going forward as youd want one of your top 2 lines to do. Point in the bag thou.

i think the term Bab, likes the Big body guys he has on the D, could have something to do with it. Kronner isnt the biggest but he has an offensive output and can hit like Vladdy, well almost as good. but Whites points have almost vanished and he aint gunna get any taller sometime soon!! The Wings could soon have a Defensive corp all over 6' and that'll be a first for a very long time.

Babs is going with the same 6 on D versus the Hawks on Sunday. 3 straight scratches for White. I wonder if he'll keep silent if that run gets to 6 or 7 games? Writing looks very close to that wall now

you know the officiating is total bull###t when a player who has a total of 190pim in 750 games gets 2 minors in the same game. the boys didnt deserve to lose that one. Good effort spoilt by the zebras, how the hell all 4 missed that cheap shot by Penner is beyond me and its those sort of blindside hits they are supposed to be cutting down on. I hope it gets looked at by the NHL and Penner gets the ban it deserves. I doubt it thou.

its a 2 edge sword really, Q leads the d with a +10 but hasnt put up a single point yet.

when all the guys are back the Wings will be ok and will make the playoffs. With all the injuries we have had i think that Babs has done a great job in keeping us competitive in all the games bar the first day blowout. We still have 2 of our top D to come in and then another 4 forwards to choose from. If we ever get a fully fit roster then Kenny and Babs will have some difficult decisions to make. Lashoff Tatar Huskins Andersson and Mrazek have all done well but can all be sent back to GR, but will they send all off them ? Mursak hasnt really had a fair run and hell be back soon so will he be given a chance. My biggest concern is that Eaves is getting scratched alot, has he not fully recovered or has he just lost that edge and touch of speed he had. For speed alone a 3rd line of Eaves Mursak and Helm would be a big worry to other teams D. I think the biggest problem for the wings is size and offence on the makeshift 2nd line at this moment in time. With Z Pasha and Bruns on the top line the 2nd line is a bit thin at present and as Babs has said Fil needs to step up but to be fair he needs regular linemates to do this. He had Sammy and Dan today and the 2 vets competed well but i think they hold Fil up with them not being as quick. Maybe moving Tats onto the 2nd line could help speed wise but then we lose some size on the 2nd.

Sorry Rick just going off the OHL web site with his weight. Even so a bit of gym work in the off season should sort that out. I think if Calle plays in the worlds for Sweden and also puts some muscle on in the summer I feel he is ready. Lets not forget that he got picked over Nyqvist for Sweden last year and did a pretty decent job. He's played over 200 games in the Elitserien:

one guy that seems to get missed, Tvrdon. If he can stay injury free the kid will be a beast of a power forward. what gets me is any other NHL team that has a 6'4" 200LB RH shot blueliner whos ave 1.5 pts pg in the minors would have him up as soon as he is eligble and give him a real good look and chance to prove himself in the bigs. how many of you reckon Sproul will get that in Detroit? we do have a lot of good blueliners in our system but i doubt any of them will get fast tracked onto the Wings roster. Smith should have been up a year earlier than he was, a whole season with the master before he retired would have done wonders for him but we all know the story there. for me next year on the roster from the prospects pool; Tatar Nyqvist Jarnkrok Pulkkinen Sheahan Andersson Sproul. UFA's to let go next year; White Huskins Cleary Miller Mursak Trade Out Eaves Emmerton Trade out this year Filpuula Kindl and Nestrasil for the best D we can get from it.

Franzen was taken in the draft as a projected 3/4 line guy at max. He's done very well and has surpassed his targeted role within the club. If Kenny was a little more constructive with his $ he could have fitted both Hossa and Franzen into the team. When you get a bonifide superstar on your roster who scores 40 goals in his first season with his new club you do try and get the guy re-signed, this was def Kennys biggest gaff.

Alexei Marchenko is the name your looking for and hell be a better late steal the Big E

Nikulin's draft notes; A large defensive defenseman with good physical game. Takes a lot of offensive responsibility. Good on powerplay. yeah your probably right Axe, doesnt sound like the sort of guy the Wings would have wanted ! on a side note Mozykin just signed a 6 year ext with his KHL side so we wont be seeing him here either.

drafting Nik jnr in 2000 over Ilya Nikulin, sure Ilya hasnt come over but he got drafted by the Thrashers and lets face would you have signed for them back then? We still had the Igor, Feds, and a young Pasha on the roster the year after Im sure he'd have been persuaded to come over on that roster

so lets get this right, the Flames are bottom of the whole league with 1 win have leaked an ave of 4 goals a game and until today had scored 16 goals in total..........just wondering thats all

the biggest worry is that we have a coach in Renney who's job is to improve on last years farcical PP, well guess what Tom it aint getting anybetter from my seat. Still i suppose you can only work with the tools you are given eh !

problem at the moment is if we put our 4 best players/skaters on the ice for the PK they wont get rested like they should do. your role guys should be picking up the pk mins and our best one is injured at present. until we have a fully fir roster (yeah I know) we arent going to be able to gauge the problem and rectify it correctly. 1PK Ericsson Huskin Eaves Helm would be my choice as 2 big bodies at the back and our 2 fastest (role) skaters. Our other problem is we havent got the biggest set of forwards in the league to compensate for lack of foot speed and size on the 2nd PK so thats where we have the major problem. Mursak is on a par with Eaves speed wise but would you trust a fairly rookie player on the PK you have to sooner than later and maybe thats the role Mursak could win a place on the roster when he returns.
