Andy Pred 48 replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
hey im listening on a radio over here in the uk, never mentioned a deflection just said a shot from wide on the left wing that ought to have been handled better.Ill take it back if it was a big deflection. Still first team to take a point of the hawks this year? -

win as a team lose as a team, no ones fault just came up short. really do need to work on that PP or we might as well sign Steve MacIntyre as we sure aint got no enforcer on the PP these days. -

so what is Renney in charge of again? -
posted on another topic also; internal blue line for the 16/17 season; Brendan Smith 6'1" 198lb L Max Nicastro 6'3" 225lb R Ryan Sproul 6'3" 200lb R Xavier Ouellet 6'1" 190lb L Richard Nedomlel 6'5" 231lb L Alexei Marchenko 6'2" 190lb R Mattias Bäckman 6'2" 180lb L Adam Almqvist 5'11" 175lb L Mike McKee 6'4" 230lb L Lets be honest that all these wont make the roster, but with projected talent pool we have here i wouldnt be too worried seeing it as our future D. What i would maybe do is revert McKee back to a winger and also maybe Nedomlel as well. These 2 on the fourth line with maybe Sheahan as the centre would make interesting viewing to say the least and give us that feared line we once had.We also have the possability of a L & R combo on each pairing.

Dan DeKeyser anyone?

this tells me that Kenny has a trade lined up -
wings lose with same effort as sat, Kenny fires Babs and then Mr I fires Kenny, calls Stevie Y in as new GM and appoints The Professor as coach. Igor then signs Sergei Mozyakin, Ilya Nikulin, Oleg Piganovich and Danis Zaripov to help Pav form a new Red 5. Stevie Y then releases/buys out anyplayer he see's fit too.

The wings have 1 in #55 and possably a 2nd in young Smith that are top 1 to 3 D guys. The rest im afraid are 5/6 at best. When you have the last overall pick on your top pairing something aint right. No dis to Big E but thats just as it is. Guys are filling wholes at present and the sooner we can get in a young top 2 guy the better. Its not going to help long term by getting a vet D in to help out wholl be gone in a couple of years.

GDT 1/19: Red Wings 0 at St. Louis Blues 6
Andy Pred 48 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
the honest fact is tonight we are not on the Blues level simple as that, the worrying thing is it could be the same for most of the other teams were gunna face. I hope not and we are just blowing alot of cobwebs away or this short season could be a very long one! -
we get a top 10 pick this year for sure

Alexei Marchenko will be on the roster by 2014/15 season. Playing with Pasha at CSKA this year the steady young blueliner is starting to find his feet in the KHL and is getting more ice time because of it. A R/H shot as well which the Wings lack at the back, looks like he could be another late round steal by the Wings scouting system.

he sure doesnt understand the thinking and actions of a business man does he! hey Sut's they'll screw you for anything they can to make as much $'s as they can. but i suppose its too late for all that.
-
just looking at who Toledo have signed so far and it looks like it could be a throw back to old time hockey, plenty PIMS on the roster so far.
-
Pulkkinen, Frk, Jurco and Athanasiou just for future reference.
-
well the one time much sort after FA has stared his pro career in fine style for Oklahoma. Justin Schultz has played 4 games for the Barons in the A and has 4+2 a +6 rating and 17 shots as well. Looks like he's running the blueline on PP's.

good that the next Capt gets to play with Brunner. maybe this was a plan all along to give Babs better insight into Brunner's personality.

ok, so as ive only seen a Kings V Ducks NHL game over here in London, some of these names may not be too familiar to the younger fans. Hopefully the older guys will know some of these. These guys played in the UK or were on touring teams. TOP TEN Garry Unger Doug Smail Jiri Lala (snr) Glenn Anderson Robert Nordmark Doug Lidster Laurie Boschman Theoren Fleury Gerald Diduck Sergei Mozyakin Best british player is Tony Hand, drafted by the Oilers in 1986 and should have stayed at camp but got homesick. Coach of the Oilers at the time, Glen Sather, said the only player with a better hockey brain at camp that year than Hand was Gretzky. Hand only played 3 games for the Victoria Cougars in the WHL before heading back home but had 4+4 !!

im told the ave ticket price for the NHL is $47.82. So if the joe sells out the rev for a game is $977'615.52. this gives the Wings and annual turnover of $40'082'236.32. In my view 75% of this should be a teams cap. The yearly gate receipt's of each individual team should be the only finance that keeps the franchise operating. The other 25% should be for club staff's wages and the running of the arena. This would insure that teams are stable and can run independant of any sponsorship monies they may get from various companies. This maybe a to simple solution to it all, in my view the CBA just over complicates the running of the sport. Any sponsorship money could go towards team bonus for that year.ie if the reach the playoffs each roster player gets a % of the total monies and it rises with each round they advance. So the Wings would have a roster of 23 players with a total of $30'061677.24 to play with. Nice and simple for any GM to work with eh? I know that they'll be suggestions to get around it, putting up seat prices to increase a teams potential cap. But if you go on last seasons total attendance is next years cap this would stop that happening for a year, and eventually stop it altogether. Bigger arenas the way to go then for a bigger team cap? only if your confident you can sell the tickets. All 30 teams would be viable and no one offering a hand out to bail teams out. Lets face it, the player wages are a problem the way things are going. The min wage for 11-12 was $525'000, now i dont no about you but that would do most people as a 10 year salary let alone a year so its not as if the lowe tier players are living off scraps. So how the hell guys on $3m+ a year survive god only knows . I'm not saying we should slash the players money, it just needs to be brought back into reality a little. This isnt suggesting that the owners should have it all either, as its their fault that the money being paid out in contracts has become obscene. Maybe the way to go would be to cap the max wage to $5m a year at a max 5 year deal. This would give everyteam a fair crack at UFA time each year, and put an end to the ridiculous contracts that we have seen the past few years, Z and Mule inc. Anyway I hope you see what im getting at.

If you could reset the career of one Wings player...

Vladdy and Igor Grigorenko so we could prevent the car accidents. -
the guy who appeared at the Wings trg camp in 05-06, has a little brother who plays as well. Only he aint so little!! Catlin Big Snake 22yrs old didnt play last year and hasnt played higher than jnr/minor league, but @ 6'5" 276lbs you sure couldnt miss him out on the ice! Not sure but didnt Robin get sent down for DUI a couple of years back?

during the pre playoff trade window the Wings were interested in getting Kubina on board. Mainly for his exp and his right hand shooting. Yet i dont think he has been mentioned at all this off-season. More to the point i dont think he has been linked with any other team? Has he a deal on the table and is off the market per say? If Kenny could somehow get him and J-Bow in on a trade then maybe it dont look so bad. I'm not down on our D at present as i think that if all the guys we have perform to their ability then we have a stong looking 6. The points will be spread about more this year and i really do think that if Smith is given the mins he will florish and end up our top point D man, yes even more than Nic jnr will get. The only thing is if we got both in then 1 of the 6 we have will have to go. The potential i could see is that White could go back to the Flames in a deal for J-Bow, which leaves us with no R/H on the blueline, unless Kubina signs that is. We would have a very big D corps if this happened thou. Kronwall 6' 190lb J-Bow 6'4" 212lb Big E 6'5" 220lb Quinc 6'2" 205lb Smiffy 6'1" 198lb Kubina 6'4" 243lb Jakub 6'3" 201lb Ian 5'10" 201lb.
