The signing of a player to get another is wrong. It actually is a form of blackmail if it has come from the players standpoint first of. a) Nic signs and Homer gets offered a contract because of it,is Homer gunna feel really wanted by the club? b) I doubt for one minute that Nic would want that sort of scenario to pan out, not good ethics. c) Homer signs his extension and Nic decides to hang them up anyway !! Kenny and co egg on face and so forth. Solution; Offer Homer a 2way deal, not against him teaching the kids his trade in GR and it keeps him in the 'family'.

to bracket any of our prospects as 'Elite ' is wrong from the start. We haven't had a pick in the top #10 since getting Marty Lapointe with the 10th overall pick in '91, which is a year alot of fans on here can't even remember!! Its a bonus when any of our picks are top 6 material with where we are currently drafting. To expect anything more is being rather unrealistic in my view. We could have a few potential top 6 players within 2-3 years within our current crop of prospects. We should really be delighted that we get any so called elite guys with our drafting position. Calle Jarnkrok is listed at 6'0" and 176lbs another 15-20lb gain and he'll be ok for the NHL; A very skilled center that will get the job done on the wing as well. Järnkrok's main asset is his outstanding hockey sense, which allows him to be the great playmaker that he is. Overall a very smart player with good positioning in all zones. Also quite shifty with soft hands and impressive puckhandling skills. Not a physical player, but plays pretty well through heavy traffic although in need of gaining strength and muscles. Good character. Often used as pointman on the man advantage, but can still improve his release. Is a good skater, but there is still some room for improvement in that department.

Tvrdon is the dark horse here, he has the makings of being a true power forward. 6'2" and 220lb already with him on the LW and Jurco on the RW all they need is a big centre to form a potential 2nd line for the Wings in maybe 2-3 years. Maybe Joakim Andersson with his size would be a fit? Future looks ok to me, the scouts will un earth another diamond in the rough i have no doubt.

Smith will not be the 7th D, if he doesnt crack the top 6 in camp then he'll do another year in GR. If Lids stays and we sign a UFA then there wont be any room for him anyway, mores the pity thou.

i love Lids, but if he does intend on signing for another season he should do the Org a fav and take a big paycut. How would it go down if Lids demands $6m again and we lose out on Suter by not having enough to offer him to come here, after all its a business. I say try and tie up Suter long tem first and then tell Lids this is what we have to play with and can offer you $?m's. Hopefully Nic will help out before any of this came up. I can't imagine us losing out on a guy who could be the cornerstone of the team for the next 10years because we wanted to keep our exsisting one for another season. Just something to think about eh.

he could improve his skating but thats said about alot of players, but my take on it is if he is able to make the national team (even if some of the regulars are still in the Stanley p/o) he must have something about him. only down side is he has played all his hockey for his hometown teams, so may be happy with his lot so to speak.

at present Pav is the oldest player on the Russian roster. Could he get the 'C' for his country? i wonder if he'll try and tap a few of his countrymen up to come to the Joe next year? Alexei Emelin,Nikita Nikitin and Nikolai Kulemin are all FA's and the young raw undrafted winger Anton Burdasov is a dark horse for the WC for sure. the title of the thread is open for mis interpretation !!

2 minor trades that we should be making are Steve MacIntyre LW lhs and Hugh Jessiman RW rhs. The mins we give our 4th line we may as well have a couple of guys to keep the flies off as Babs says. Jessiman can actually play a bit and Mac would keep the opposing teams 'honest' ! With young Sheahan as the centre. That would be a nice big 4th line that could play 7-8 mins a game i would say.

after listening to Babs post game press interview, i do get a feeling that the coach wasnt pleased with his depth at fwd and stated that the Preds could roll 4 lines (like we use to) and he was frustrated at not having enough to go back at them. Well i do tend to agree with Babs on this. For if we look at both sides additions at trade time; The Preds added Paul Gaustad, Andrei Kostitsyn, Hal Gill and a freebie from the KHL in Alexander Radulov. This would be a 2nd line on any team and the Russian boys could be top line on most. Wings added Quincey and ...............and there you have the ball game folks it aint rocket science to the majority of the fans and maybe this was Kennys last chance saloon for some of the guys to perform and im afraid most failed. So Ken has a big job on his hands, not only does he have a unhappy fanbase but it seem's a rather miffed coach. Will it be the old story of we like what we have and just paper over from within or will he make moves. Options within the org for potential departee's; Holmstrom-------Brunnstrom/Axelsson Stuart----------Exelby/Janik Quincey---------Kindl Lidstrom--------Smith Hudler----------Tatar/Nyqvist Abdelkader------Sheahan/Andersson. One thing that seem's to never happen is to trade someone from the roster, maybe its time to be un-Redwing like.
