there is the other side to this, Huds could put up 20 goals and 60 points next year and prove us wrong.
-
With the Isle signing Vokoun I think Nabby could be had.
-
thats it then, Babchuk it is. I think hed fit in well at the Joe.
-
Anton Babchuk or Jan Hejda, and bring up Smith.
-
dont worry, Kenny has a master plan. LA cant get Doughty signed.......see what happens later

Babchuk, Bogosian and Zherdev then make a play for one of the big UFA D's next season when Lids will hang em up.
-
Nyquist and Smith aren't going anywhere soon.
-
a contact of mine in Keiv has said that Babchuk is on the Wings radar. Good skater has some size and is a Righty!! Not sure what his current contract is but if we could get him and A/N on the D i wont complain.
-
Brian Boyle, Steve MacIntyre and Anthony Stewart would add some size, hell Stewart is a decent player and Boyle can add some #'s Mac would add that enforcer element some are calling out for. : )

the Marchenko pick was a steal that low. He is one of the best D men if not the best, in his age group in Russia. The fact he stated he wouldnt leave russia before last years draft put off all the teams and he didnt get drafted. Someone within the Wings scouting has obviously talked to him and given the top brass the green light about his change of heart. Im pumped about getting Jurco, but this pick could be a brilliant move by the front office boys.
-
well i got that one right Jurco has some sick skills.
-
Kenny's lining up a biggey, he's not had this much $'s to play with for i dont know how long, top D and top Fwd in-coming but we may loose some faces we are happy with and may cause some un-rest amongst fans,
-
I have a feeling that Nabby is going to resurface again, just a hunch but with Joey as good as gone and Ozzie not really in any sort of situation to get a contract a trade with the isle could be on the cards. Maybe Nabby and Milan Jurcina for Hudler?
-
Only the Devils head coach slot left now. maybe we could get Hitch after all.
-
the talk over here is the Griffs are speaking to Sebastian Arvidsson about going over to GR. can anyone shed any light on this.

Soviet bloc and Eastern bloc are 2 different things: Soviet bloc are countries that were once part of the USSR, Eastern bloc are countries that as you rightly stated came under the influence of the old USSR but were never part of the old USSR and were countries in their own right. Maybe if i had worded it as former Soviet countries it would have been easier to follow.

thanks Fin, i didnt bother to reply as i know the guys over the other side of the pond dont know alot about the geography this side !! for you who dont know; Baltic; Estonia Latvia Lithuania Eastern Europe: Belarus Moldova Ukraine Transcaucasus: Armenia Azerbaijan Georgia Central Asia: Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Eurasia: Russia these were all part of the old USSR. hope this helps with any homework.

anyone else noticed that we havent drafted a Russian or old Soviet block countries players, since Kolosov and Stolyarov in '04? will we pick one this draft? anyway, my pick for the first round at #24 will be Tomas Jurco. and hopefully Kenny can trade up and get Vladislav Namestnikov as well. 2nd round Joel Edmundson. 3rd round Andrei Pedan, 4th round Joel Lowry, 5th round Alex Roach 6th round Ildar Isangulov 7th round Vladislav Kartayev 8th round Stefan Steen

-

Just thought i'd have a look at some guys who could fill that 5/6 spot currently in Europe. Antti Bruun D. A calm and talented defenseman. A good skater and passer. Has a decent shot. Vladimir Sicak D. A small but strong defenseman whose biggest strengths are his skating and passing. Useful on both powerplay and penalty kill. Richard Lintner D. A highly offensive defenseman who often plays like a forward. A good skater, shooter and passer. A powerplay specialist. Hannu Pikkarainen D. A smooth-skating defenseman, Pikkarainen has great offensive tools. He is a skilled passer and possesses a good shot from the point. Thrives on the powerplay. Lacks in physical play and aggression. Josef Melichar D. A big and and pretty tough stay-at-home defensman. Melichar has good reach and is fairly mobile considering his large frame. He plays a simple game without shining. His puck skills are rather mediocre and there is not much to brag about when it comes to his offensive game. Melichar has also had some problems with shoulder injuries during his career. Daniel Fernholm D. A huge and fairly allround defenseman. Fernholm has strong first passes and hockey sense is decent. Better defensively than offensively. His great size and reach makes him a good player in front of the net and along the boards. Skating is not really fast, but decent considering his large frame. Daniel Tjärnqvi D.A very capable two-way defenseman. Tjärnqvist is very steady in his own end where he plays it safe and makes smart decisions. At minor league level he is also quite productive offensively and is a good power play defenseman. Michal Barinka D. A fairly large and strong stay-at-home defender. A good skater for a player of his size. Plays a simple game and is useful on one-on-one. Barinka is a good passer but has some offensive weaknesses. Vladimir Denisov D. An all-around defender with good offensive abilities and a tough attitude. Denisov is useful in one-on-one combats and is always ready to fight for his team. Sasha Pokulok D. Reclaim project for Kenny. 6'5" 230lb #14 overall pick for the Caps in 2005. Played last season in the DEL.
