I seem to recall a rather skinny looking 21 yr old taking to the ice back in 91-92 where one and all where asking who's this we got coming in? His career hasn't gone to bad has it? I do feel that although its a good thing to groom players in the A it also stops them getting valuable exp playing alongside future HOF guys. Both Kronwall and Ericsson have played some of their best games when icing with Nic. Pro's and cons here I know, but if Nic comes back next year I would consider playing Raffi and Kronner on the top pair with Kindl on the 2nd pairing with Nic. Having a guy on $3.5m on the 3rd pairing aint ideal but if its what it takes you gotta go with it. Also we could basically have all 3 pairing's getting even ice time which would also help down the stretch. For Smith to come in we would have to pull a deal, that I dont think will happen, but I just feel he is the better long term solution than Kindl is. I have read somewhere thou that many of the coaches feel Kindl plays better with better players, I guess we'll find that out next year. If Kindl and Smith both pan out we could be set for the next 10 yrs. Lets hope

Slovakia 1 Russia 3 (eng) Tatar(-1) doesn't get on the ice in the 1st period but finishes with 7.54 ice/t and is on at the end when the eng is scored.

Lids takes pay cut, trade Kronwall & Cleary for a top 6 fwd, release Lilja,Lebda and Meech. Make an offer to Eric Johnson (RFA) try and sign Tallinder as Lids new partner. Volchenkov will get a big offer from someone and will be out of our range. Rafalski Johnson Lidstrom Tallinder Stuart Ericsson Kindl Also bring up Brendan Smith from the Griffs for some games, the sooner we get him in the line up the better. Think he will be more of a better allround player than Kindl.

The Sharks D aint no where near as mobile as the Yotes was. Need to capalatize on this. How about bringing up another guy with blistering speed, may be a gamble but you never know. Sit Drapes and give Mursak a spin, Drapes isn't getting any PK time at all and hardly any ice time. Mursak brings the speed with the scoring touch, ( no flaming please ) Helm as C with Mursak and Eaves as the wings?

The Ovie comment was tongue in cheek boys!! The realistic facts are that the Wings finished as 5th seed in the West and 7th overall in the league, now if that aint enough of an argument that the East is poor I dont know what is.

Line changes at this stage could be more disruptive than positive for the Wings but do you feel Babs needs to make a change? The Yotes seem to be happy going with 3 Fwd lines and 7 D the past couple of games. Could Babs follow suit, by bringing in Lebda for his extra speed on the D and going with just 11 Fwd's. Who do you leave out if you did? The 2 least used guys are Abby and Draper, now at present Abby is bringing more to the table but can you scratch a guy with Kris's playoff experience, although Abbys face off % is alot better than Kris's. This final game of the series aint going to yeild much ice time to the 4th line guys, so it may not be a bad thing to try this option as it would also keep the main D guys a little fresher with the lesser ice time, albeit only a couple of mins off each of the top 4, it can make a huge difference.
