Pav wants 32, what I want is 1 or 2 fellow countrymen on the roster with him. Kovie and Frolov on his wings next year would be nice!
-
Tatar had 3+2 in 6 games which was 3rd on the Slovak side and he had a +2 rating which was a team leading figure on a poor Slavakian team, that only had 2 players with a + rating in the competition. Not a strong tournament, but hardly a flop. Andrej Nestrasil had 1+6 in 6 games for the Czech Rep which was also joint 3rd on the team. He had a -2 rating as well.

Tatar will be a Wing before he is 20. Mursak is starting to bring the goods to the table, he has some great speed to. Emmerton is looking a good 2 way player and a guy that everyone on here seems to overlook is Pare. A great rookie season with 24+24 in 63 games and also lead the team with a +23 with Big Rig 2nd on a +12. Pare had a slow start this year but now has 23pts in 41 games and again leads the Griffins with a +19 rating. Janik and Mursak are tied 2nd with a +12 followed by Tatar on +11, says something for Pare's game when he can put the #'s up and have great +- stats. A little note about our old next great hope, Grigorenko. He had a very slow start to the KHL season but has been on fire of late. He has 16+11 after 43 games and a +21 rating. This after he had 2+4 after 17 games.

So what snipers could we get here, or are there any hiding in the KHL? Our team looks good when we have a full and fit squad to pick from. Franzen Zetterberg Holmstrom Bertuzzi Datsyuk Cleary Miller Filppula Williams Eaves Helm Draper Lidstrom Rafalski Stuart Kronwall Ericsson Lilja/ Janik Looks ok to me, which see's Abdelkader Maltby May and Leino as surplus forwards and Meech and Lebda as your 7 & 8 D.
-
When you look at who we have got to come back in, things can only get better. I mean, Mule Z and Dan would be 50% of any others team 1st line. Add losing Lil Nic and Big Rig who are top 4 D guys on most sides and it only impresses me more as to how well the guys have done in hanging around the playoff places anyway. The biggest headache for Babs will be who he keeps up when everyone is healthy.

Well not quite half way thru their second season and Jared has already matched his stats for last year. Posting 19+11 and a +20 rating in 32 games see's him sit 5th overall in scoring and 3rd in the +- for his Knights side. Austin is 1pt shy of his rookie total contributing 10+18 in 37 games and has a +12 rating for the Spitfires. He is lying 8th overall in scoring on the stacked Windsor team. Point of note, I think the kid Fowler is gunna go before the Wings get a chance to draft him, unless we blow the rest of the year and finish in the bottom 5 overall. He currently sits 3rd overall in scoring for D-men with 3+37 and a +26 in 32 games.

Im not getting involved with the Leino slagging off as i find it in bad taste, as at present the lad is representing our team, same as how some seem to find Lebda easy pickins to slate. When players hit bad spells they need encouragement from their fans. Talk about a witch hunt. This year was going to be difficult for us without all the injuries we have taken and I'll be happy to nick the 8th spot at the end of the season, hopefully with a healthy roster. The guy isn't usless as some have suggested, he has had a rude awakening after a successful few games last year. With last years roster I could have put points on the board. I understand the frustration shown by some, but if we take both Hudler and Filppula's first full season's they put up 25 and 17 points with a much better supporting cast. I think that Ville was penciled in to play 3rd line mins at the start of the year and with the injuries he has been asked to play top 6 which he just isn't ready for simple as that. Im sure he is more upset with his play than us fans are and maybe a week out may do him some good. I hope so as the lad has got some talent, just needs to settle down more put in the hard miles and his skill set will come thru.

Although many of the readers on here seem to lose interest on our old prospects once the org cuts ties with them. This is for those who like to keep tabs on them. I for one had real high hopes for Grigs and the what if, factor really does apply to this kid. It seems the Wings lost a FHOF when the Limo carrying Vladdy crashed and it seems that another auto crash has cost the Wings a top draw performer when Grigs career was scuppered for the best part of 2 years. He never recovered enough to get a spot on the team when he made his attempt. But another couple of years down the line he seem's to have gotten back some of his strength and speed. He has lost 6LB and is feeling the benefits. Playing on the 2nd line for his KHL side Ufa Salavat Yulayev he has hit some form of late. With fellow Togliatti native and former NHLer Viktor Kozlov as his centreman Grigs has 13 goals and 21 pts in 37 games with a +16 rating. Former 1st round pick Alexander Radulov leads the team with 18 goals and 43 pts. Also of note is former Wings prospect Miroslav Blatak leads the D and is 2nd overall on the team in the +- with a +22 rating, no mean fete when their blueline consist's of former NHL vets Dmitri Kalinin and Oleg Tverdovsky.

I honestly think but for the WJC, young Tats would have been up instead of Newbury. I've said before he'll be a Wing before he's 20, but who was the last kid to be a Wing at 19?
-
Now before we all get carried away and think we have Lids heir apparent, the guy I have him similar to and drafted more or less the same is Atlanta's Tobias Enstrom. Same stature too, smallish playmking D with great hockey sense. If Adam can turn out as good or better than Tobias then Hakan has done it again.

With cap room next season, what is our priority?
Andy Pred 48 replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
What we need is a new version of the Russian 5 with Dats pulling the strings! Many have been calling for Frolov, and Afinogenov (whom I said we should try for, but I got shot down) these would be great wingers for Dats. But who do we go for on the D? I'd try and get Anton Babchuck back over here and bring Oleg Piganovich with him. -
Looks like my boy is here to stay then. 10 games in, can he still go to the O?

Williams out 8 weeks with fractured fibula

Just bring up Tatar now, to hell with keeping top prospects in the minors for 2-4 years. This kid is a shooter and everytime ive watched him for the Griffs he makes all the right moves and plays. I can't recall him coughing it up and he seems to be the type that will play better with better players. Get him bed in now and by the time he's 21 the whole org will have benefited by it. The makings of the next Pasha maybe. -
Boys and girls, do you really think that, "I told him to go back to Europe," said Broussard, is what Broussard actually said? I would hazard a guess that this is the watered down version for the press and the actual remarks are unprintable. Now do you get it? I surely don't have to spell it out for you!

I think Tomas should stay in GR, yeah he could go down to the O put up some big numbers but would that do him anygood? From what I have seen so far he looks like he can contribute in the A and whats more he looks like a player who is older than his years, and if the Wings have anymore injuries would they have the nerve to throw him in for a few games? I really believe that Tatar is going to be a steel for the Wings and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him a Wing before he's 20. The higher brass signed him to a 3 yr deal early for a reason we shall wait and see what happens. In all likeliness he'll spend some time in the O as the Griffs do have a deep roster on the forwards, unless they shop some guys, Tomas will be a Whaler, but stranger things have happened.
-
Has he signed an extension with the Kings?
-
Whats the story with Christian Backman? Is he a free agent as I see he is playing in the SEL this year. Was he wanting too much $ and the Jax let him walk. Sure he was a 1st round pick, depending on the cost could pair up well with E but he's better than a 3rd pairing thou. Gotta think long term really thou, Lids has got this year plus 1 at most.
-
There's too many NA's on the roster, we have become soft and beatable. No, but on a more serious note, I do think that Big E and Lebda are struggling to play as a pair so far. Maybe a change would work but how do you split them up. Boy, am I the only one who wishes Lilja was back. Having him paired with Ericsson would be the best 3rd pair in the league. So, if we put Lids with Big Rig as our 2nd pair and promote Kronna to the top pair with Raffi would Stu welcome some time with Brett on the 3rd? Someone has suggested bringing Kindl up, but he is playing big mins with the Griffs at present, not sure if it will help out him coming up and playing just 10 mins a night with the Wings. A better option would be to call up Janik. He's more responsible in his own end than Delmore, and at present is the Griffs best +- and point scorer. He could be the steadying influence to help out Ericsson on that bottom pairing. the other side of the coin is that Kindl and Ericsson played alot together in Grand Rapids last year so should have some chemistry. Drawback here is do you want 2 rookies playing together in the NHL? As for the forwards well, its just not going in for them is it.

well then, another game the Wings have been on top and managed to lose. How long will the top brass put up with this. Its clear what is needed, enough of the hard luck stories we are just not getting it done. 49 shots and only 1 goal! Its time to trade for a goalscorer and if it means losing some roster player to get it done then thats what they'll have to do. Because if this goes on much longer, a top 8 spot could be out of reach for us by xmas. No this isn't a panic post this is a point of view from a harden fan who has watched every game bar the Buffalo fiasco. I can't see where we are going to be able to get the 3 goals a game we'll need with our netminding to start winning games on a regular basis. I had us down to pick up 5 points on this road trip, I cant see us getting the 2 wins in the next 3 games to do this. I honestly thought we would win tonight and in Phoenix, but not to be. I hope the guys prove me wrong and win the next 3 and make this a good road trip.

should we get excited by another pp? how about a sh against with our luck
-
come on boys lets keep up the pp goal a game stat]
-
i dont believe it, weve hit the pipes 4 times each time it cannons off and out, they hit the pipe and it goes in, its gunna be a long season with the luck the wings are getting
-
Well in the aftermath of Red Deers drubbing by Medicine Hat by 9-2 last night, our boy Willie managed to come out of the game with a goal and a +1 rating!

Ive stated in other threads that this kid will be a Wing before he's 20. We have a bonified scoring talent here, I hope the head office don't hold him back too long.
