dont look like it !! this is fuc#ing brutal

expect Babs to alter the lines, they have been horrible. The thing is if you put Pav and Z on top line does it leave the other lines week. This cap issue is hurting us at present. With Leino and Helm back in here we seem more balanced when Hossa is out. So we go with Pav Z Cleary Franzen Draper Samuelson Kopecky Filpulla Hudler Meech Maltby Downey Play 3 line hockey by the looks of it!!

Big Rig for the 09 Calder!! Why not, put on Lids line next year and he'll win the rookies scoring title hands down. I've stated before possably 2 years ago that Ericsson and Kindl could be our #2 pairing in the future. They compliment each other well, both have size, Ericsson's steady play and the skill set that the kid Kindl will bring with him makes for a very good partnership. Wether the front office will throw them together next year I doubt but I really wouldn't have an issue the year after. The other plus side is they both have good speed for big guys. Like other posters have said, maybe the days for Lebs and Meech are #.

I know that due to the cap issue we have little chance to pull off anything major at this seasons deadline. My own view is that we'll try for Havelid in Atlanta. But if you could pull the trigger on a deal what would yours be and how would you do it? Here's mine to get the ball rolling, try and offer info on how it would fit into the cap as well. Jay Bouwmeester; I really would be trying to get JayBo over in a trade, he could anchor the blueline for the next 10 years. The front office has to look ahead to when Lids hangs them up 2 yrs max I would say. Now Raffi is good but he hasn't the size to be the mainstay of the D corps. Maybe sending Kronwall, Filppula/Hudler, Meech and a pick could swing a deal with the Panthers. Thats alot to give up, 2 roster players 1 depth guy and a pick. But here me out. Now before you all go off on one, Bouwmeester is worth the deal only if he agrees to sign long term as well otherwise forget it. Freeing up the cap space to make way for the deal, what would it cost to get him? $6-8m? Kronwall and Filppula are both on $3m deals with Meech on $.483m. You offer this for the first year of the deal then after next season when Lids contract ends one of 2 things can happen. a) Lids actually retires and thus frees up $7.45m in cap. b) Lids wants to play on but he will have to take a lower salary. Whatever happens you offer Boumeester another $1.6m on top of his first year salary of $6.4m. Taking him to nearly $8m per year for say a 5 year deal. This deal would make next year really tight against the cap but if Lids hangs them up after next we have a ready made guy to take over who has had the advantage of playing with Lids for a year. The deal would have a knock on effect down the line on the roster but with some guys at the end of their contracts this year, we could fill their space with 3 maybe 4 guys from the Griffins. We could have a big blue line next year; Lids 6'1" 190LB Stuart 6' 2" 215LB Lilja 6'3" 220LB Bouw 6'4" 212LB Ericsson 6'5" 220LB Rafalski 5'10" 190LB Lebda 5' 9" 195LB One can dream I know.

Brendan Morrison, Gary Roberts and Miroslav Satan all waived

Aaron Voros for the 4th line please, similar to Kopecky but with more grit. -
The Dallas games are still being broadcast, not that you'll want to watch them but I watched them throw away the game to the Ducks yesterday then watched Moen paste Ott at the final hooter. Their game today is also being broadcasted, has Texas got some sort of barrier around them?

Havelid in to bolster the D for the playoffs, just as a rental. No other deal will the Wings entertain. Unless the Thrasher really want Flip bad. It was rumoured at the start of the season theat they were interested in Filppula. Can't see them offering up their 1st round pick thou just for him. Maybe a 2/3 player package off the roster but that would hurt the Wings playoff run. At present it could be the 1st or 2nd pick this year. Hrmm, Tavares or Hedman? Now that would put Kenny on the spot !

Never mind whats done is done. We still got the Rig to come up next year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54jmik941tk

Come playoff time they'll both be up. Helm gives us that extra bit of zip and I think Leino just has all the tools to play in any situation as he has proved by playing on the top line and the 4th line. Seeing PP duty as well, Babs really has a hard choice to make, who will sit?

Bruins lost

FWD; David Moss D: Martin Skoula

Well at least Ozzie has cemented his position as the worst sv% in the whole league. I would think he has got to be near bottom in the gaa to. Kenny time to sit his sorry ass and have a look at one of the Griff boys. 28 shots 5 goals, come on it just aint cutting it however you look at it. You could tell what Babs was thinking after each one went in, jeez! Even Manny has better stats than Oz and the Blues put him on waivers!! Loyalty is one thing guys, but blind faith?

I can't understand the logic of some people on here. Or is it that some just can't understand the role the Wings are asking Flip to play this year. 1st point; the Wings are stacked on the top 6 forward positions. Dats, Hoss, Mule, Hommer,Zetta,Cleary and Sammy/Huds. Flip isn't needed unless injuries. 2nd point; He has been given the role as the 3rd lines C, which he is doing well and is on course to hit 40 pts this year, and he is responsible in his own end. A +10 rating so far. 3rd point; The Wings org are obviously high on the kid to be giving him the $3m multiyear deal in the first place. Just maybe they were thinking ahead when doing this. As I have stated before on this forum, Leino will be signed for next year. Holland has so far done a great job in giving us a competitive team in this cap era. I just think that the Maltby and Draper deals may bite him on his ass thou. These guys came up big in last years playoff's but I'm just wondering if this could be one year to many for them both. They are looking out of sorts in general, they'll have a couple of decent games and then seem to struggle again. We do need the role guys on the roster, but maybe its time for the likes of Helm and co to be seeing more games. It will be interesting come playoff time who Babs plays and who sits when the cap restraints are lifted.

The win over Nashville Tues night marked the 250th regular seaon game for Sammy. Although the brunt of many 'trade him now threads', he has been a steady player the 4 years he has been here. In that time he has 62G + 91A for 153pts. He is a +54 rate and has 132pims. In my opinion I feel he has done a good job for the Wings for the contract he is on. In the main he has operated as a 2/3 line forward but is seeing some time on the 2nd PP unit. 21 of his goals have come on the PP. There are some teams that would like that kind of production from some of their top line players. In fact if you take the guys that came on the scene 4 yrs ago, Mule, Flip, Huds, Cleary & Sammy it may surprise some that out of these 5 Samuelsson has the best ppg ratio of all. I just feel that he is underrated by some Wings fans and felt the need to write this up. This could be his last season here and as the saying goes, 'you don't know what you've got until you lose it'.
-
Well Babs must really likes what he see's with Leino. So far in his 5 games with the team he has 3 points and a +4 rating. But the fact that Babs is playing him 14+ min ave, and alot on the PP indicates to me that he has a big future in Detroit. Although not lightning quick he has soome speed but its his hands and steady play that seem's to be winning Babs over.

No not the amount of goals we scored, but the 8 we did get were all scored by different players. Is this in fact a record for most amount of different scorers in one game?
-
I knew there was a record in there somewhere! LOL
-
come on boys lets not let them make it look good 6-4, this should have been a 8-2 game!!!
-
Should the Wings go after this kid. With Lids due to retire within the next 2yrs who else could take over the mantle? Maybe the chance to get someone of Jays ability won't be there when we need to replace Nic, so should the Wings act now. Could we afford to give up what the Panthers will want for him and then chance getting him to re-sign with us. Is this the time to offer up Nik jnr in a deal. Florida will want more than that thou, another roster player prospect and a draft maybe. We have no chance of getting Hedman in the draft, Jay is ready made and could anchor the D for the next 10 yrs at least. I say we should take a real good look at what we could do here, to make it possable we would have to get a big chunk off the wage bill. Kronwall $3.0m 3yrs left on contract Cleary $2.8m 4yrs left on contract +prospect + 2nd round pick. Looks a heavy exchange but I feel would be worth it down the line. You offer Bouwmeester the combined $5.8m on a 3yr deal. Then Kenny can re-up the deal after that time.
-
I realize that we couldn't get him for that money, but when Nics gone Kenny could use part of his cap hit to up Bouwmeester's deal after 2 yrs. The $5.8m was just the cap gained by releasing Kronna and Cleary. you could up it to $8m and have $5+m left from Lids cap hit. So it is sort of a back end loaded deal. My whole point in this, is that we haven't got anyone ready to try and replace Nic. Jay is as close as we could get and he could be on the mkt soon. Because we are sure going to have a big void when Lids does hang em up.
-
the only reason i see this being correct is that the Mule thought he had better sign up quick before Hoss does or he could be heading outta town.

The facts are we struggled to beat a patched up Yotes team that should have been buried once we went 4-2 up, Wings teams of old would have ran out 5/6-2 tonight. Plus side is that Helm looked hungry out there, Hossa is on fire and surely must get a hat trick soon and Babs put Z and Dats together. Looking at the performance of others tonight, I'm getting a tad worried by the same old mistakes and breakdowns happening over and over. However with the prospect of the roster growing once the deadline passes, certain players will not only be playing for their spot but some for their futures. Saturdays line up is going to look interesting, esp if Ericsson gets the call as well. A certain Nik jnr may find himself in the bo watching the game with messers Maltby and Kopecky. would like to see a line up of; Datsyuk Zetterberg Leino Cleary Franzen Hossa Sammuelsson Filppula Hudler Helm Draper Abdelkader Lidstrom Ericsson Rafalski Lilja Chelios Lebda Conklin Osgood Probably not able due to cap issue, but if Homers gunna be out a while then he can go on IR's which will open up enough cap.
-
is it me or does Lids look out of sorts tonight?
-
Kops has been on the PK again, looks like it could be shop window time?

I hear Mickey said that Big Rig may be up sat as well. Well he's not icing for GR tonight so maybe that extra 3 days rest will be enough to see him in the Joe on Sat.
