If my memory serves me well Quincey iced with Cheli in both his games earlier this season. So if we stick with that rookie and vet combo how will the other 4 be paired off? If we go with the offensive Schneider on the top line I suppose that it'd be better to stick Lilja with him and Dani with the returning Brett what say you guys?

It is actually an old carrying bag used to transport alcoholic beverage's from the West Indies by Pirates in the 18th centuary. Sorry guys, i need a little light hearted humour as the thought of Lilypad being on the top line during the playoffs does nothing for my sense of humour at this moment in time. Can we not call up Kindl from Kitchener ?

Gaborik has just lit the lamp, Avs with it all to do

good move by the coaching staff. Get Kyle into some games in case he is needed for the playoffs. Doesn't sound to good for Nik thou, hope this hasn't ended his season.

hopefully he'll put tootoo back in his diapers..........

Just looking at the West and how the table looks at present seem's to me that the Wings aren't to bothered about topping the league. Finishing in 4th spot would do them nicely? What and have to face the Sharks or Nucks in the 1st round I hear you say! Well no, looking at teams run ins the side we look like facing would be the Wild. Now I'm sure that most on here would take them over any of the other's we could face in the oppening round. The other option is to up the game plan finish top and take possably the Flames in the 1st. The best home team in the league with the worst away record in the league, now when was the last team to have that combined set of records? So who would you settle for in round 1?

For the umpteenth time I am not a Preds fan!!!! I play for a team over here in the UK called the Predators and my # is 48! Wings thru and thru believe me, anyway the luck will change and hopefully carry us deep into the playoffs. -

So Brett will be out for 2-3 weeks as is mandantory with concusion. So do we go with Lilypads or call up Meech/Quincey?, until Brett is cleared to play. -

I DON'T MIND US GETTING ALL THE CRAPPY LUCK NOW, GET IT OUT THE WAY BEFORE THE SERIOUS STUFF STARTS IN 2 WEEKS. STILL WHEN YOU OUTSHOOT A TEAM 42-19 YOU SHOULD WIN THE GAME SHOULDN'T YOU? -
I wouldn't worry too much, they'll only need to be up to 2nd and 3rd pairing mins when Jakub gets here!

It looks like the final spot in the west is between these 2 and on current form the Avs could well nick it. Calgary seem to be in freefall at present with only 1 win in there last 6 games.Whereas the Avs look like they are hitting some form at just the right time, 8 wins and 1 OT loss in their last 9 is championship form. Our own Redwings could make it all the more interesting by winning in Calgary Tues. April will be the make or break as they face each other twice in the space of 5 days with the second game being the last regular game of the season in Colarado, now that could be a real barn burner.

with the Wings draft picks, they won't get a look in.

Hommer seems to have hit a slump since Zetterburg has been out of the line up. Only 2 goals since and pointless in his last 5 games the missing #40 has watched his line mate struggle to keep his production up. On the other hand the last member of the hot trio has been carrying on regardless. Pav has 2+11 and is a +8 since losing his Scandinavian buddy. Not sure why Hommer is suffering maybe he is still feeling his injury. Zetts rookie stand in Flip has done well posting a 3+2 and a +4 rating on the top line since his promotion.

What price O coming to Hockeytown instead?

Just looking at previous comments regarding the little man and his ice time. Many people on the boards had suggested that Hudler wouldn't do any better production wise with more TOI. Well since Babs has given him 16mins on average from the Chicago game on the 27th Feb, he has 2+2 in the 6 games and is a +4 to boot. I just feel people should start to give the guy more credit than he is getting. His defensive play was a major concern for many fans but he has answered these by currently sitting 3rd overall in rookies with his +11 rating and has only been a - rating in 6 of his 63 games so far. In all I think he has done better in that area of his game than many thought and although come playoff time I think he may well be the unlucky 13th fwd, there will be a few so called senior players needing to pick their games up or they could find that they will be the healthy scratches. As a sidenote, and before anyone says, yes the AHL ain't the NHL I know but Hudler has played 20 playoff games for GR and has 28 points, not a bad guy to have in reserve.

Looking at the run in I feel that 6 wins from the last 11 games should see us attain 1st overall and a first round match up with either the ailing Flames or our old foe from the rockies. Not sure who i'd sooner face. Calgary haven't really caused us too much problems in the league games but then again did us in the postseason the other year. Next tues game could give us more of a feel for them as they'll need the win more than us so it should be a playoff type game. The Avs are a funny side but I think we should come out on top over a series against them, as they don't have the depth that we can put out and that should be the overiding factor. Much sooner face them than either of the other options we could have in the 1st.
-
Well the 'needs to work on his defence' guy now sits atop of the rookies +- chart with Pittsburgh's Stall on an impressive +16! Keep it going Huds
-
Who does he remind you of most that previously wore the #17 for the Wings? Hull..? Brown..? Gallant..?
-
Prime example is Rico Fata, one of the if not the fastest skater in the NHL, #6 draft pick overall for the Flames in 98, now playing in Germany at the still young age of 27.
-
If Bert makes the same impact when he plays as Kyle has done then I think Mr Holland has done a couple of great trades for the org.

In the West it looks like there is only 1 place still up for grabs with Dallas, San Jose, Minnesota, Calgary and the Avs the teams fighting it out. But with only 13 reg games left the Avs find themselfs sitting in 9th and 10 points beind the 8th placed Flames. Is this a bridge to far for the Colorado side or can they ****** the final place? They have 3 games left against the Flames and in effect this could well be the deciding factor. Out in the East its much much tighter and in theory only the Caps and Flyers are out of the running. I can't recall this many teams still being in with a chance of making the playoffs so late in the reg season. The Rangers at present hold 8th spot on goal difference from last years winning Canes side. Only 5 points seperate the Rangers and 13th placed Panthers so it really is going to be all to play for. Maybe with it being so close in the East it makes these teams more focused as they enter the playoffs and they have a more playoff game mindset about them before the post season starts.

I really hope that we will have a line of Huds, Flip and Grigs(!!?) next season, i think it would be a very well balanced 3rd line for the wings with tremendous upside potential. Just my own preference mind you.
-
After 15 games with the Griffs he has 7+5 and is a +2. In comparison to Wing prospect McGrath who has played in 46 games and has 5+3 and is a -4, although since going down to Toledo he seem's to have come back better for it. Whilst in Toledo McGrath played 9 for 6+9 and +4, where Tardiff played 34 times and had 10+20 and was -5. Weird how some players can perform better at a higher level than others can, will be interesting who gets the nod come playoff time in GR's.

The only way Kindl doesn't make the Wings next year is him bombing at camp. He is by far the best allround blueliner in the OHL at present. The kid is racking up Lidstrom amount of ice time for the Rangers and I see him being Nic's future long term replacement and not Kronvall. I don't see Kindl going to GR, but coming in and being groomed by the great vet's we have on the blueline. For my money Lebda is becoming a more allround better player by playing with Cheli the past couple of years and has made more progress than Nik Jnr has. Both have very similar stats in their early career's but only 3 goals from his 105 games isn't what was forcast for Kronvall I'm sure. He still has time on his side and maybe next year he may breakout and have the production expected of him. At present he is getting almost 6 mins a game more than Lebda, but isn't showing up much more on the scorechart. Not to sure about Quincey, he is having a indifferent year in GR and this maybe him coming up against the opposing toplines this year. He has the size and with the right partner uses his skills accordingly. Maybe him and Kindl could be a perfect match in a couple of years. Ericsson has surpassed all expectations of him in GR this year. Will do well to crack the Wings line up, but with his size and previous forward play he may be the ideal 7thD/13thFWD roled into one. Will be a very interesting summer this year.
