So Hank Dats and Homer are pretty hot right now, but where would you place them in a list of 9 other teams 1st lines? Forsberg trade close

Spot on. Probably the fact that Foppa wouldn't say he would sign for longer may have put Kenny off. If the 2 picks and players tauted to be involved in the trade are correct, then I say that the price was too high for a guy who may only be playing for you another 4 months. I for one would say that Kenny got this one right, if he did indeed bail out. As a side note, Forsberg goes to a team that hasn't got a single Swedish player on the roster!

    Craziest Deadline Scenarios/Deals

After a 4 month holiday in the Swiss Alps, Kolanos comes back on board straight into the line up and steers the Wings to first spot in the West. Proving all along that he is indeed a 1st round pick by scoring 10+10 in the process.

    Our Hot Line

Ok guys I got the lines off the FOXSPORT depth chart page, so maybe they aren't right. All I was saying is how do you compare our current 1st line to those, not lets pick a fecking hole in the lines stated by the thread starter!! If it was me picking the lines I'd have Sid with Malk and Stall for the Pens and Alex with Semin and Zuburus for the Caps but I just put down what was stated by a so called top US sports network; now can we try again...............?

    Just a thought,

This is what I think is possable out there ie, guys who are on the block and would make us stronger. Peter Forsberg for Williams MaGrath and 1st round pick Fredy Modin for Maltby & 3rd round pick Jassen Cullimore, Martin Lapointe for Lilja , Meech,Ellis and Kolanos. Ryan Malone for Lang and 5th round pick. I know this is unlikely but it would add some size to the team. Zetts Dats Hommer Modin Foppa Sammy Malone Flip Lapointe Franzen Draps Cleary Huds Lids Cullimore Schnids Markov Cheli Kronner Lebs Dom Oz

    2/14 GDT: @ Dallas Stars, 8:30pm

So let me get this right, Monday we get run out of Philly in the 3rd and therefore lose to the worse team in the league. 2 days later we play the 2nd best Defence in the league for GAA, run them ragged in the 3rd, only letting up 3 shots on Ozzy while scoring 3 ourselves and nearly outshooting them 2 to 1 in their barn. Ain't are game the best game in the world you just can't predict anything. ( Except Philly ain't winning the cup this year )

10 best Russian NHLers of all time?

Are you just listing guys who played a few years in the NHL or players who have appeared for a few games. Because if so you can't leave out Vladimir Krutov, just ask the Nuck fans how good he was. Also you'll have to find room for his sidekick Sergei Makarov too and our own Igor is already on the list. The famed KLM line. Devils fans would also say there is a case for Fetisov's old blue line buddy back in NJ, Alexei Kasatonov but looking at the list it is only guys from the 90's to the present day. Maybe you could put up a best 10 forwards and 10 best defence with say top 3 NM. I think you may get some interesting replies to that.

    Possable Bruin swap

With the Bruins seemingly having a re-tooling campaign going on is there any guys on their roster who would be of any interest to the Wings Org? I keep hearing that Sturm is on the block and Murray is also being shopped. Would either or both of these guys fit into our set up? Murray brings some size to the wing which we seem to lack and I believe that Sturm has good wheels on the wing too. So my thinking is that old coach Lewis might have an idea who he would like off of our roster and it may not be guys we would necessary think of straight away.

    Ericsson

I noticed that the Griffins blanked Iowa 4 zip with Howard back in net. Looking on the gamesheet it was surprising to see that Jonathon was not on the roster. Is there any indication that he was suspended for the game last night or is he getting the call to cover for the injured Markov over the weekend? The Griffins re-called McGrath from Toledo but he didn't feature last night. Anyone heard anything, I hope he isn't part of any trade as that would be a blow. ( Ericsson that is).

    I Hope We Trade Kronwall

I don't think we could compare any player to Nick let alone a guy who still hasn't played 100 NHL games yet. When we picked Lidstrom in '89 with the 53rd overall pick I doubt anyone on here would have thought he would turn out the way he has. His rookie season was a blast as we got a guy with 60pts and a +36 rating. So I can see where guys are coming from when they expect a 1st round pick like Kronvall to have a impact in much the same way if not better. But we just got to face it with Lidstrom we got lucky. Also Lids has been lucky in that he hasn't had the injuries that Kronvall has and this hampered him into getting settled into the team period. But saying that his offensive output, esp in the goal department needs to pick up. For those who want to compare; Kronvall has Played 93 games for 3+17=20 74pim +17 over 3 years. Lidstrom over his first 3 years played 248 games, but his ave for the same games as Nik 93 games for 11+48=59 76pim +32. So as you see the only similar stat is the penalty minutes taken. In fact the undrafted Lebda has been more productive than Kronvall with less ice time.

    Last years FA tryout's

I have been keeping an eye mostly on the Donati boys this year but I thought I would look at how the other guys we had at camp last pre-season are doing this year. So I have compiled a stats lowdown on them all. Jamie Tardif currently playing for GR's and has an AHL record of 1+1 from 6 games. He has iced 34 times for Toledo in the ECHL and has 10+20 with 37 pims and a -5 rating. Andrew Martin started the year in Toledo with Tardif and had a pretty solid start to the season. He played 18 games and had 8+12 with 22 pims. Not sure if he is injured as he is still on the Storm's roster but not active. Dominic Vicari also signed with the Storm and has started 20 games with 7 wins. He has a current 0.886 save % with a 3.62 gaa. Has played part of a game for the Griffins but he had debut to forget about conceeding 4 times from 7 shots. Kevin Undershute has been playin with the MedicineHat Tigers in the WHL with Darren Helm. In 57 games he has 11+19 and 104pims with a +5 rating. Reid Jorgenson is the Capt of the Kamloops Blazers and has played 52 games for them so far. His stats are improving each season and he currently has 35+27 for a +9 rating with 52pims. David Jarram is plying his trade in the OHL with the high flying London Knights. He is having his best season so far with 2+2 from 33 games and 81 pims but he has a -5 rating. Justin Donati was the more productive of the twins last year in Toronto, but this season has seen him slip behind his brother in the scoring stakes. He started the season with the Majors but was traded to the Wolves in Sudbury. This move hasn't hampered his production in fact it has made him more responsible in his own end. He currently has 35+39 from 47 games with 30pims, but in the 12 games he has played in Sudbury he is a +7 rating with a +4 overall from all 47 games. Will be hard pushed to hit the 100+ points again but will still have impressive numbers. Tyler Donati, having amassed 89 points from 96 games with the Toronto team he joined Wings prospect Shawn Mathiast in Belleville and boy have the Bulls benefitted from his move. He currently sits atop the scoring charts in the OHL and is averaging just over 2 points per game. 49+62 from 52 games is setting the pace and after being a -27 from his previous 2 season's he has turned that part of his game around and is a +10 this year. Will be interesting if the Wings ask any of these guys back next year, I think they will want to have another look at some of them as some have improved alot and filled out a bit to.

    Hudler

February 7, Detroit News: In 48 games, Hudler is averaging 8 minutes, 28 seconds, of ice time. Yet, Hudler has nine goals, tied with Jason Williams and Kris Draper for ninth on the team. "Huds scores more per shift than anyone in the league," coach Mike Babcock said. "He's done a real good job with his minutes. He has the ability to score." ... "I try to do my best and prepare for every shift and take advantage of it," said Hudler, who is getting 7-10 shifts a game. "It's about confidence and being ready and having your legs ready for every shift." Said Babcock: "He gets ice time in practice every day he's learning from good players. As he gets better, he may one day take someone else's job and he'll play more minutes. Now, it's the process of getting better." I say that this sum's it up, Huds is still a work in progress and he know's that too. Coaching staff know what they have and are taking their time in making sure he become's a better all round player.
