exactly, they've done the same thing with NASCAR, they secured the rights for all races in the Busch series and the second half of the season in Nextel Cup. They even have NASCAR Now a half hour show about it most days around 6.30pm EST. It's just what ESPN does, they're big at pushing what they have and ignoring what they don't. Makes sense from a business standpoint.

and 40% of ESPN's programming is Poker, they also show Bull Riding and Fishing on ESPN so what's your point? ESPN didn't have a half hour pre-game, just the same lame commentary without the starting lineup and commercials during the anthems. What really is the difference?

that's a poor comparison, they're not at the same angle, you can't see Giggy from the front and Giggy is wearing a black sweater which hides the size of his actual pads. because Luongo is wearing white you can see his pad much better plus he's at an angle that make them look big.

C, I don't know if you've read the whole thread but I really believe this is, in part, a cultural thing, many Russians will block a shot by staying up, putting their legs together. Sometimes they go down to one knee but rarely will they ever go all the way down like many North Americans. It's really how they were taught. Obvisouly there are exceptions but in general I've found it holds true. Still can't say much about the hand to the face bit but oh well, I'm not too concerned.

This was several years ago. They showed footage of this and his main beef was that if your going to block shots like that DON"T have your stick straight forward b/c if the shot hits the blade the puck can crawl right up the shaft of the stick and strike you in the face. They've shown several examples over the years on HNIC. It was kind of a "don't do this kids" type message.

How common is French in the Maritimes? I would assume not as common as in Quebec of course, I know there are English sections of Montreal. Do English speakers have trouble getting around the Maritimes? I'd assume it is more bi-lingual than Quebec.

How is Sid considered French Canadian? I know he's from the Maritimes and that some do speak French in that region as a geographical consequence of being close to Quebec. I know that some ppl from Quebec have moved to the Maritimes and that French is more commonly spoken in the Maritimes than the Prairie Provences. Is French his first language or maybe one of his parents is French Canadian???
