I think you hit the nail on the head here, it's b/c he was so talented that there's still so much passion there. Look at how many posts are in this thread. I personally would never boo him, but if others want to so be it. It's their right , they paid good money to be at the game.

I've gotten used to them as well , at first I didn't like it but now I do. When you think about it every team has a white sweater so what's the sense of wearing it at home, let the home team where the colors they're famous for. It's the way it was up till the 70's. Funny how it's always been (for the most part) that way in the NFL but Basketball and Baseball have always been white at home.

my theory is that they switched to dark sweaters at home b/c most of the alternates were dark colored and that gave the home team the benefit of having it's fans seeing the jerseys in person and buying more of them.

assists get my vote for the most overrated stat for modern era hockey players. the gluttony of second assists given out nowadays never happened when Howe was playing. To me it signifies even more what a perimeter player he was, how he never could stand to get his nose dirty.

I've long since (7 years) stopped watching ESPN on a regular basis due to many factors. I've ranted about ESPN multiple times so I won't re-hash all that but this is typical re: RPS championships. Did we expect anything else when they already show hot dog eating and poker and strongest man from 1985? Regarding the NASCAR show ESPN now has the rights to the second half of the season (the rights NBC/TBS) or was it TNT? had the last few seasons. They also are showing all Busch races this year so that's why your seeing the NASCAR stuff which just goes to prove they'll do whatever they can to make the most money right know. Regarding Sportscenter showing only 3-5 mins of hockey per hour show, well, when has this ever been different? I always recall ESPN showing the short, readers digest, versions of maybe 2 hockey games and then swithching to several other sports and then back to hockey for 1-2 more games etc. That was always my complaint about SC, it was readers digest info and hockey was never given the proper attention. They do that so you'll keep watching the whole SC for an hour but I personally didn't want to sit through 6 Basketball games to see the results of Dallasv.Phoenix but that's just me. I remember when the world juniors where in Vancouver 2 years ago and we had limited coverage of Team USA on ESPN. They even said they be with Team USA till they are out of the tournement. We lost (I believe the semi-finals) and the final was Canada v. Russia but they wouldn't show it b/c Team USA wasn't in it. Thanks, didn't really want to see Can vs. Rus final anyway (sarcasam) ESPN for me has long since been a joke.

just make sure it's not a Game 7 exactly, Roy really is overrated, Hasek didn't have the benefit of playing on the same teams and winning a championship is really a team thing. In terms of the Conn Smyths, well , again, if your teams doesn't at least make the SCFs you have no chance of winning it. The last time a goalie won the CS when thier team got bounced out in the 2nd round of the PO's was Hainsworth, too bad that was in the 60's when there were only 2 rounds! If Hasek was born in Canada he'd easily be considered the greatest goalie of all-time.

Stop making sense!!! at the end of ESPN's tenure it was still behind to poker and area football but for some reason everybody thinks they'll magically fix that. Hockey on ESPN had 2 tenures of at least 15 years. ESPN kicked NHL 2nite to a later time slot as soon as they got partial rights to the NBA in order to show, well NBA 2nite. ESPN would take hockey off the air completely for a week at this time of the year b/c of all the basketball tournements. Just when the season is getting good and teams are battleing for PO spots - poof, no NHL for a week - rediculous People complain about VS; east coast bias, well , ESPN had the same east coast bias. VS has for a while now been showing just as many games as ESPN did in their last year - fact. Depsite all the talk there was very little mention of the sport on shows like PTI or Around the Horn, unless of course you had a black eye incident like a cheapshot. I heard alot of people make fun of hockey on ESPN. In ESPN's last year of coverage they tried "Wednesday night hockey" in a vain attempt to always have it on consistently like HNIC but that didn't work as well b/c hockey is a niche sport in the US It's funny to see people bash VS for showing bullriding when I can watch it on ESPN as well.

some of you have really short memories, this is the time of the year that ESPN would have taken Hockey off FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK because of the basketball tournements. Doesn't anybody here remember that? I'm sick of hearing how ESPN would be so good for the NHL. It had the NHL for how long and at the end of it's term Poker, cake decorating, and area football got better ratings. I want to know exactly how ESPN is going to grow the sport, it had it's chance and couldn't. Just face it, hockey is a niche sport with regional popularity. ESPN is not some magical cure.

the bottom line is we've been doing the roadtrips for DECADES LONGER and have spent alot of incresed money on travel for DECADES. I don't care if Columbus is .345 degrees farther east of Detroit geographically or whatever the argument is , if you think that's how it should be then Atlanta should go to the West. the Pens are most likely moving to KC, the area is built, the company that owns it, AEG, has a big wig on the NHL re-location committee. It's all set up for them to move, this is just posturing by the Pens.

The most sucessful American team by far. actually it was more difficult than having a one in six chance to go to the finals against other expansion teams in the expansion bracket. There was no free agency, some young kid always looking to take you spot, management didn't treat the players with respect, the rivalries were fierce built up by years and years of playing against the same team and same players. The players really didn't like one another not like today where they're at the same golf outing in the off-season. There was no watered-down talent pool.

I remember watching VS when the wings were on last time and they called #40 Zetterberger and Zetterman all within the space of 2 mins, hilarious!

I understand what you're saying, I'm not trying to villify him. I just think is't strange some of his comments considering he gave the go-ahead for this. Grind Line 33 did say it all, I agree. We may have only seen 1/10th of the press conference. This will backfire on the Preds, even if you wanted him on the team the price was simply too high for an older forsberg.
