Yesterday while I was being lectured by someone about something (I don't remember nor do I care) I was pondering a certain trend I've noticed in the playoffs. It seems to me that round 1 is usually hard fought and rarely do teams have a strangle hold on the other. However, as the rounds progress, there seems to be a counterintuitive parity that emerges. Example: This year, in round 1, there was only one sweep. All of the other series were pretty competitive. However, in round 2, three of the four series are at 3-0. So my question is...why? Theory: When round 1 starts everyone is just coming off the regular season where on any given night any team can win. There is a confidence and an excitement about the playoffs which leads to adrenaline rushes that can overcome adversity, injuries, fatigue, and what not. As round 2 comes around, injuries and fatigue begin to show their toll. I was just wondering what you thought.

I was trying to be a gunner and turned in my final case study a day early. Actually, I was required to do one but I did three. Now the director has decided he wants me to present a case tomorrow morning to a room full of residents and attendings. See! This is why I try to keep low expectations of myself for everyone. All of a sudden if people see I'm competent everything goes haywire.

It's sunny outside. I got all my IVs and intubations in one shot today. I am supposed to turn in a case study tomorrow and I actually have three I'm preparing. It's a good day.
