35,000, even 25,000 seats are too many...20,000 is more than enough...I can't imagine them selling out 35,000 seats every night over a full season...I don't care what people say, from watching the games this season, there seem to be a LOT of empty seats at the Joe, even when there is supposedly a sell out...I'd keep the capacity of a new arena at about what it is now at the Joe...no more than 21,000 seats.

I made my first visit to the Joe last April and while I was in awe to finally be there, it wasn't the most visually pleasing arena I'd ever been in...the chairs weren't very comfortable...I think a new arena in the area near Ford Field and Comerica Park would be a great idea...now if we could get the Pistons to move downtown, we'd be all set!

Hey guys. I work in a sporting goods store here in Newfoundland. A guy came in this morning and bought a couple of Wings hats. Isaid to him that that was the best team and he asked me if I was a big fan. I said I was diehard and that I had followed them for a long time, had gone to see them play Edmonton last month. Turns out he's a friend of Danny Cleary's and that Cleary is out in his truck. He told me to get someone to cover for me and that he'd get me a signed picture of him. So I went with him out to the truck and met Cleary. He's a nice guy, got to talk to him for a few minutes, he just got back home yesterday. They were going out of town for the May 24th holiday (Victoria Day, big deal in these parts). I asked him if he was going to be back with Detroit next year and he said he'd probably sign a new contract soon. I got the autographed picture too. It was pretty cool. I was really excited when I found out that the Wings had signed him, I'm even more excited now that he's going to be staying there for what looks like a few more years. The last thing I said to him was "Bring the Cup back here next year" and he said he would. Wings in 07 baby!

prospect is Shawn Matthias I'm one of the hypocrites...I thought Bert was a thug when the Moore incident happened but I am over the moon about this deal...I can't wait to see him wearing the Winged Wheel

I really want them to get Bertuzzi...I think the Jagr thing is unlikely, but a prospect and pick for Bertuzzi would be a good move

I just read the Truth and Rumors article on SI.com for today. There was a little excerpt from one of the New York papers saying that the Rangers might become sellers if things don't look good for them by the deadline, and it said that one of the players that could be moved is Brendan Shanahan. I don't know about anyone else, but if the opportunity to get him back to Detroit comes up, Holland has to do it. He is EXACTLY what the Wings need, a gritty, scoring winger. He'd be a better fit than Forsberg or Bertuzzi. I seriously hope this happens because he would be a big time improvement to an already good team. Anyone else see this and have some thoughts?

Had to bump this thread...he might not be a star, but he has definitely been one of the best players on this team this season...it's awesome that he's been doing so well...I am honestly thinking about getting a Cleary jersey for Christmas...he's been great all year...hope he keeps it up!

I think the Leafs would have to trade Stajan, Steen, Coliacovo, and White to get Malkin...those are not great players...Steen is the only one out of those four that will be any good...I watched Stajan play here with the Baby Leafs...he's useless

well, since I am from Newfoundland and Cleary is from Newfoundland, and everyone around Newfoundland calls him Danny Cleary, I will continue to call him that.
