McGuire just said Ryan Miller is going to be a Red Wings in two years when he is a UFA...I said this a while ago
-
well, we'll still be ok if San Jose and Anaheim play each other in the first round...here's hoping that happens
-
something about Jokinen has Calgary written all over it
-
I thought Ericsson looked good and Lebda did look bad, but he's not used to being a top two guy, he's usually number six...I think he'll be ok once the injured guys are healed and he's back in his element

I don't usually put any stock into what Allan Muir writes, but I thought I would post this since a friend of mine suggested a similar trade yesterday. Toronto sends Darcy Tucker to Detroit for Justin Abdelkader and Kyle Quincey "Yes, Tucker says he wants to stay in Toronto, but honestly, who wouldn't waive their no trade clause for a chance to join the best team in hockey? And while the Wings have said they won't clear the cupboards for a rental, the three years remaining on Tucker's deal make him an appealing pickup. With this deal, Detroit adds grit, experience and a knack for timely goal scoring that will come in handy should they draw Anaheim in the playoffs. The Leafs add a young, NHL-ready blueliner and a speedy, checking winger with 15-goal potential." I wouldn't be all that interested in giving up both of those guys for Tucker...maybe Abdelkader but I like Quincey...Tucker is gritty and he can score goals given the right opportunity...I certainly wouldn't be against this trade if we didn't give up a roster player...thoughts?

got my tickets this morning! couple of rows behind the benches!!!!!! :D

so I'm guessing he has cleared waivers by now and is on his way to the Griffs?
-
he won't go for a rental player...Kenny will only trade him if he can get Hossa locked up long term
-
better three weeks than 3 months...gives him a chance to rest, we should still be able to maintain first place in the league
-
I don't know if anyone would take him at this point, simply because no one is sure how effective he'll be when he gets back and when exactly he will get back
-
well if he doesn't come to Detroit, better to keep him in the East
-
really, really good post...I was hoping someone would do something like this...another possibility on defence for next season or the one after is Kindl, hopefully he'll be ready soon...I was kind of against Hossa at first, simply because of the salary concerns when we still have to sign Hank long term and because I didn't really want them to get rid of Flippy, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea...I just really want another Cup so bad...I hope there's some news on something soon...I don't see how they could do it, but if they could trade for Hossa without giving up Flip, I'd be over the moon
-
nope, I don't think he can even eat solid foods for 2 weeks...I don't think he's going to be full strength until the playoffs at the very least...I have some inside info, I know someone who works with a friend of Cleary's family, and she said that his injury is worse than they are saying it is...hopefully he'll be ok by the playoffs but it is no guarantee
-
way too many young guys leaving in that scenario in my opinion
-
terrible news...my condolences to his family
-
I got nauseous when I saw the comments in this thread...please tell me he's ok
-
if he doesn't play the rest of this year, give him a chance to be the starter next year...Howard is ON today

Reheated Wings: Osgood sparks Detroit while sharing time with Hasek
detroitdan replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
yeah, I was surprised that Pierre McGuire said that...goaltending has not been a weakness this season -
man, I like Cleary just as much as anyone on this board, but this was a freak accident...Sammy wasn't aiming for his head...get a life

say what you want about Marty Lapointe, but he has 2 Cup rings and a boat load of cash...I like Cleary as much as anyone on this forum, and I would hate to see him leave, but after making $675,000 this season, he has a chance to make some serious coin this offseason...Lapointe got $20 million for 4 seasons after 2001, he's been getting $2.4 million since 2005...he may not have been playing on very good teams, but everyone here would trade places with him, and the cast majority of NHLers would kill to have the type of career he's had...I really hope he'll sign in Detroit for 5-6 years for $2.75-3.23 million a season, but if someone offers him $4 million a year, how can any of us blame him?

I don't care if they win another game in the regular season as long as they win 16 once the playoffs start...as the Patriots proved, a good regular season means absolutely nothing if you can't win the big one
