I JUST got his jersey...I will be pissed if he leaves...I think a contract of $2.5 million for 5-6 years works well for everyone involved...it gives him a lot of security for years to come and lets the Wings have some flexibility with regards to signing Hank, which is the most important signing for the next few years...I really want Kenny to get Cleary signed...I will be so mad if he leaves

I didn't know if this had been posted already, but I thought some of you might find it interesting. It's a nice article on Cleary that was done by my hometown paper The Telegram (St. John's, Newfoundland) last weekend. It's a good read. This just struck me a few minutes ago. The biggest problem here is obviously his contract status with Dynamo Moscow. He signed a 2 year contract with Dynamo and I have no idea if it has an out clause or not. But now that it is later in the season, Kenny might be willing to give him close to the money he wants. We're still a good bit under the cap. And the most important thing is that we wouldn't have to give up a draft pick or prospect. I liked him a lot when he was with the Wings last year and I was a bit disappointed they didn't sign him again. If there is a way to get him, I'd be all for it.

I have to think Kenny is working on this already...I got a chance to meet Cleary's agent, JP Barry, last year at a conference and have a discussion with him...he is a very reasonable guy and he knows how much Cleary likes Detroit and the organization...there are going to have to be concessions on both sides to get this done (maybe longer term, 4-5 years, for less money) but I think he'll be a Red Wing for many more years to come

they need some more grit...seemed to me as if the Sens were outhitting them by a wide margin tonight...I hate losing, but they aren't going to win every single one...they'll be fine down the stretch

if he gets to 400 wins, I think he could probably make it...the only other goalies from the current era that are locks for the HOF are Brodeur, Hasek, and Belfour...CuJo has almost 450 wins...would he be a HOFer too? at least Ozzie has 2 Stanley Cup Rings...I can see arguments for and against (only 2 all star games, no major awards), but I think he might be in there

Eklund has made some dumb statements before, but that one topped them all...first off, there isn't going to be a team in Nashville within 5 years; secondly, the Preds definitely wouldn't be able to pay Ovechkin what he's worth; and Leonsis would have to be mentally ill to trade him and Kolzig....Eklund needs to shut up and get out of the rumour business...he has a very poor success rate,and when a trade or signing actually happens he'll say that he "saw it coming" or some other crap...I feel stupid by even reading his blog

as much as I like McCarty, there isn't really anyone on the current roster that I'd replace for him...they are playing decent at the moment...it might be good from a PR standpoint but the on-ice product doesn't really need him

they'd better re-sign Cleary! I don't want to get his name on the back of my jersey only for him to sign somewhere else after the season!

I agree...he was extremely close to death and if I recall correctly this was his first training camp in North America...the game is a lot faster over here...I for one hope he does work a lot harder this season back in Russia and makes the effort to get in shape...I'd still love to see him and Dats work the magic they did in the 03 World Championships

I bought one of the new jerseys a couple of weeks ago, I like the style, I have no problems with it at all...I'm not wearing it on the ice or anything but I really like the way the Wings jersey looks...some of the other ones look foolish but I like the Red Wings one

the TSN panel was on saying that they think the Leafs might trade Sundin to us if they are out of it by the deadline...wouldn't mind seeing him in the Winged Wheel

I was surprised no one picked San Jose...I thought the picks were great (obviously) but if I wasn't picking Detroit I'd pick the Sharks...although on Sportscentre just before the preview show The Reporters was on and I think one or two of them might have picked the Sharks...but Dave Hodge picked the Wings, so that's 4 picks there...very nice IMO
