Wow. I am just hearing about this now, read it over on habsinsideout.com. I've got to figure it has something to do with drugs. Hopefully it won't be as damning as most people are making it out to be.

another one I just remembered, Steve "Stumpy" Thomas

Danny Markov, Dmitri Bykov, Tomas Sandstrom

If it is a longterm injury they'll put him on Injured Reserve and they'll have the cap space to call someone up, no need to trade anyone.
-
I would just hope it would lead to something bigger down the road. Gotta start somewhere.

I am completing my application as we speak. I am three months from finishing law school but I would do almost anything to work for this team.

$50 million over 7 years sounds dandy to me

I agree with the upsetting the applecart statement. I think it'd be a huge trade for the Habs but I don't know if they'd want to change the chemistry of their team that dramatically in midseason. He's also said that he didn't want to play in Montreal because it is a pressure cooker. He would be the team's biggest French Canadian star since Roy played there and he would be under a constant spotlight. He doesn't get that in Tampa, which he is probably ok with. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days. It is essentially Vinny's decision to make whether he stays or goes.

I agree. I can't tell either. I don't like the trade at all though.

I am sitting in the library at school and I almost laughed out loud. Great line.

I go to UNB in Fredericton and they played an exhibition series with Maine in early October. I went to the games specifically to see him play. I was impressed with what I saw, he scored and set up another goal. Hopefully we'll see him with the big club someday soon.

I would pay dearly for one of these as well. Or one of the jackets that Babs and the coaching staff were wearing. Very nice.

As someone said, it's a good thing fans don't make the trades. At least with some trade proposals on this site there is a modicum of logic involved. There is nothing of the sort here. While we may lose Huddles in the offseason, trading him now would be a poor move. And anyone who brings up trading Cleary forgets that fact that he has a no trade clause until 2012. He isn't going anywhere.

don't you worry about Kenny...he'll figure it all out

OK, so December 10th against the Flames is Stanley Cup ring giveaway night. I would be willing to pay handsomely to get one of these. Is anyone planning on going to this game?
-
Did anyone go to the game last night? What are the rings like? I tracked one down on ebay, can't wait to get it!!!

They've been saying that a decision will be made by the end of the year for a lot of years now...I'm not holding my breath

yay Darren Helm...been looking forward to seeing him back in the big league again

I know the guy isn't popular among Wings fans, but I've always had a great deal of respect for him. I got the chance to meet him 2 weeks ago at a sports management conference in Toronto and he had some really interesting stuff to say. He has a good sense of humour too. A lot of people will say that he walked into the perfect situation, and I can understand why that would be said, but the team would not have won the Cup without the tweaking he did (heck, if Schneider hadn't broken his wrist and Kronwall hadn't broken his ass they probably wouldn't have won it anyway!). He says what's on his mind, which can turn some people off but after meeting him and getting the chance to talk to him, I definitely have a new appreciation for him and how he does things. I am a law student and am hoping to work in the sports industry someday and he was very approachable and very happy to give advice to me and the other younger delegates at the conference. While I am not a big fan of the way the Leafs have run things in the past, I would like to see him turn the team into a contender. The Wings are and always will be my favourite team, but there is something special about the playoffs when the Leafs make it there. This is a picture I had taken at the conference. It was a great experience, lots of player agents and other officials (Gary Bettman, Bryan Colangelo, Jimmy Devellano). It was probably the best event I've attended in my three years of law school. Burke was actually one of the co-organizers and hosted several of the panel discussions. The conference took place the day before he stepped down in Anaheim.

Likely metal, I have the Pistons one from 2004 and the Tigers one from 2006 and they are both metal

This might be blasphemous, but has anyone considered the possibility of letting Hank walk and re-signing Hossa and Franzen?
-
Well, it's not difficult to say he's doing well. The guy has scored in every game since he's been back. It's like the puck is attracted to his stick. Hope he keeps it up and we can afford him next year.

Stuart started the 05-06 season with the Sharks, was traded to Boston in Dec. 05, was traded to Calgary after that, signed with the Kings in the 07 offseason, was traded to the Wings in February 08. That's 5 teams in less than 3 seasons. And that's after being drafted by the Sharks and being in their organization for a long, long time.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games
