Or is it that we do not have secondary guys who can secure a win or a few wins when our top line is not playing at its best? I will go with that, when our top line does not show up we usually do not do that well. Bottom line is: we need scoring depth.

Yeah I agree with you...I would trade Carter for Kaberle...but no way in hell would I even think of trading him for Campbell.

Wooo! I would LOVE to see the Stars in the playoffs...Turco possibly playing 4 games at the Joe does not sound good for Stars fans. But that aside no team in the West makes me uneasy except for Anaheim...They are the only team I would like the Wings to avoid but I do believe that we can beat anyone in a seven game series. Anaheim as I implied would give us a very hard time though especially if we see them in the WCF.

Why any team would want to go out and get him...and then pay him big money is beyond me. He is not that great of an all around defenseman.

It seems like very wishful thinking. In an ideal world I suppose this would be alright but I do not see it happening. I do not think we could get Hossa or Sundin without losing Flip or Hudler. I really do not think that Sundin is going anywhere and if he does he will be a Leaf next year.

If some sort of a sign and trade deal could be put in place that would be ideal. I thought Waddel was looking for a player and a prospect or pick too though. Hossa for Flip straight up could never happen.

Sign and trade. I see such now. Then and only then is it logical to deal Flip away in a package for Hossa.

I am well aware that Hossa wants a long term contract. What I am saying is what happens if he comes to Detroit and turns out to be a rental because he decides to test the market and gets a better offer elsewhere?

Where are you getting this notion that he would re-sign? If he hits the market he would get a huge pay day...something that we not be able to give him. So even if we do get him whats to say that he does not walk and sign with a team that can offer him more money?

I really dont want to see us give up a lot for a rental player. Obviously I would love to have Hossa with a guarantee that he would re-sign. We gave up Matthais for nothing but those kind of things happen. I just do not want to see it happen again. I heard a rumour about Atlanta wanting Filppula in a package for Hossa...TREASON.

I am torn about this I really am. I want to see him back but I think he is probably finished or wont be able to even compare to the McCarty of old. But at the end of the day, sign him for depth, it wont cost much and he will be a "reserve" if you will.

I have not been on in a while. But there is no better way to return than this thread. When I found out about such I went nuts. I really hope that Darren can get back with the Wings and if not, I just hope he can get his life back to the way it was.
