Let him play. He can use the Olympics to get into game shape and it could benefit the Wings after the break. -
I guess it could happen. I was under the impression that he was not pleased with the Swedish Olympic officials as they were saying that the Red Wings were rushing him back because of their current position in the standings.

That's fair. But Franzen does not seem to be on the best terms with the Swedish Olympic officials. MLive Link I would be surprised if he played in the Olympics but maybe you have a case with the injuries to Modin and Homer. Can he be called up as an injury replacement this late though

Says who? Filppula is like Zetterberg but on a much smaller scale. He was on pace for his best season so far prior to breaking his wrist. Flip is a solid two way player that would garner much more than a third round pick in a trade.

That hit was clean. It was unecessary as Carter could have tried to lift his stick to prevent the shot but it was still clean. His head is down, I understand that he is trying to score a goal but if his had of been up, and squarely facing the goalie, I doubt this would have been this severe. I would rather see penalties for such things to but until it is enforced this sort of thing will continue to happen, unfortunately.

I'm aware. But without Kovalchuk they aren't going far. Just my opinion. In terms of looking at teams being sellers, its more likely that the 11th seed in the East would be a seller than the 7th seed from the West.

Atlanta is not in the playoffs nor will they be. Calgary is at the moment and could end up making them.

Some of the proposals made in this thread are flat out ridiculous. Meech and May for Afinogenov? Rafalski for Horton? Really? It seems that some Wings fans think that the other 29 GMs in the NHL are simply stupid.

Wrong Thread. They are still in a position where they could easily make the playoffs but at the same time, the exact opposite could happen as well.

Sweden is just angry that they left him off of the roster. Why would the Wings want to risk Franzen hurting his knee again? He has a lucrative contract that has only just begun.

I agree with this train of thought however, instead of Meech, send a draft pick. A pick could be more attractive to the Thrashers in many ways. Maybe a 4th? That for any of them. Kozlov, Armstrong, maybe even Afinogenov although I don't think too much of him.
