I compiled the following list based on box scores. Some of the data is not necessarily reliable as the stats for number of hits tends to vary, building to building, but for what its worth, here are the total hits recorded per game in each series (total for both teams combined): NYR/NJ - 68 PIT/OTT - 65 BOS/MON - 64 ANA/DAL - 64 WAS/PHI - 60 CAL/SJ - 57 DET/NSH - 46 MIN/COL - 37 So, Cherry isn't a complete idiot, the Detroit series had low hit totals compared to the rest of the playoffs, but the real no hitting series was between MIN and COL, which I am somewhat surprised about, wasn't there some real nasty stuff between these two teams near the end of the season?

So this would mean you are heading to Toronto with your rifle for the event, not knowing who had won at that point. If you wait until after finding out, then you've missed the boat.

Voting is already complete, playoffs have nothing to do with the voting. In fact, Chara, Lidstrom and Phaneuf are simply the top 3 vote getters. It's not like they are the ones nominated and then you vote. The vote already happened, the votes were added up and these were the top 3. Someone or multiple people already know the winner.

As a general rule, I think Coaches do get in line and shake hands.

The video was not from last night's game.

It's really hard to simply look at standings a make a call, but 4 of the 5 teams in the Atlantic were playoff teams. Pittsburgh went 8-1-1 against the Western confererence this year.

Nah, there's no regression analysis required

Brodeur's division is one of the toughest.

The beauty of living in Canada: Bos vs. Mon will be on CBC (HD) and Was vs. Phi will be on TSN (HD) No need for centre ice this time of year, even though I have it.

Looks bogus to me, since I haven't heard it anywhere else. Also, Niedermayer was not getting paid during the time he was off....making a fine seem odd.

I doubt there is anything to the Yzerman to Ottawa rumour, seeing as Murray is their GM at least for another year. I wonder what kind of ties Yzerman has to Ottawa these days though. I mean, he did grow up there.

If you are placing even 5% of the blame on Gerber, you didn't really watch any of the series. He was probably one of the 3 stars of the series. If Gerber didn't play as well as he did, the results would have been downright ugly....well, uglier.

I would definately be surprised if the Wings lost this series, there really isn't too much to worry about yet. The series is tied 2-2, the way the board is right now, you'd think the Wings are down 0-3 or something. The old saying goes "you are never really in trouble until you lose at home." They lost 2 games on the road, what's the big deal. Come playoff time, you have to expect road games to be tough. As long as they keep winning at home, they win the series regardless of what happens on the road. This is why home ice advantage is important.

The Pens completely dominated the entire series. The Pens won as a team, but it was clear that their star players were their best players in the series and you can't say the same about Ottawa. Interesting stat: Crosby and Malkin combined for 15pts in 4 games Spezza and Heatley combined for 2pts in 4 games

NHL's Online Impact Magazine Looks at Former Players Turning Manag

Odd that there is no mention of either Gretzky or Lemieux. -
Anyone that blames the loss on Hasek is just reacting and trying to point the figure at someone. The team didn't play a full 60 minutes, simple as that. At the same time, you are wasting your time if you try to suggest Dom shouldn't be faulted for goals 3 and 4, especially the 3rd. There really is no excuse, you have to stop those shots.

I, for one, don't mind the separate thread at all. I really don't like the GDT threads, which is why you will very rarely see me post in one of them. I think it is fine to chat during the actual game, but when the game is over, why not have discussions elsewhere? My computer is normally off or closed (laptop) during games and when the game is over, I don't feel like posting in a thread of 38 pages. I find them really hard to follow.

My honest opinion is that there are no similarities at all. Different nose, different colour eyes, etc.

They are covering their asses....I doubt it was the right call, but I could very well be wrong.

I wasn't able to watch the game, I had a game of my own to play, but when I look at the replay of the goal, it looks pretty clear to me that the linesman is well outside the blueline. Granted, the replay I have is not great. I wonder if the officials are saying that...just because...to get rid of the argument. I truly thinked they screwed this one up, but it happens...move on. The thing is, the linesman that got hit with the puck is the one there to make the offside calls. He wasn't in a position to make the right call there due to getting hit with the puck.

Well, the game did go to OT. He played 25:50, which is still a lot for a forward, but in the same game....on the other team, Stastny played more, 26:19.

Crosby reminds me more of Tom Welling (Smallville guy)

I listen to the Fan590 a lot between 4-7, or used to. I find they cover a wide range of topics and don't provide too much of a focus on the Leafs, not more than would be expected anyway. I don't listen to 640 a lot, but I would guess that they spend more time talking about the Leafs.
