You're right, I went back and checked the rosters and every team was reprented, but I thought I had read a summary article saying that 24 or 26 teams were represented.
-
I think there stats are almost as identical as you can get, with the exception of one being the passer and one being the shooter. Henrik has more assists, more points (by a whopping 2) and a better +/- (by a whopping 3). Daniel has more goals, GWG, shots, etc.
-
It looks like they tried to get representation from every team, not sure why, they didn't do it last year. That is the only reason I can come up with as to why Legace is there instead of Leclaire. I also can't figure out how you can have one Sedin there without the other.

For fun, let's just ignore the fact that saying "if Osgood played for Boston, his GAA would be "x"" is completely unsupportable. I'd like to understand how you have done your calculations, because you are obviously making a mistake someone. How is it possible that Thomas goes to Detroit and has a better GAA than Osgood, but at the same time, if Osgood went to the Bruins, he'd have a better GAA than Thomas. If it actually worked that way, I think the Wings and Bruins would be better off if they just swapped these guys, both teams win.

Staal wasn't drafted 2nd overall to be a bigger, slower version of Draper, his potential goes well beyond that. He scored more goals and points as an 18 year than Draper has been able to accomplish in any 1 year in his 14-15 year career.

You can't just call up players without having room on the roster to do so, it would take a lot of work and you would also need to consider the cap impact.

Lidstrom may be the NHL's perfect player (NHL.com)
toby91_ca replied to 96warrior's topic in General
Didn't Babock say the same thing about Datsyuk and once before about Lidstrom I think? The guy has to come up with a new line. Also, both can't tape their stick better than anyone he's ever seen. -
The NHL has no such rule.
-
Here's Esposito's thoughts: Is he absolutely nuts? There is no way Pittsburgh trades Staal to get Sundin on rental. Staal is having a terrible year (sophmore slump), but the guy is only 19 and has lots of trade value. On top of that, he's thinking they'd throw in 2 first rounders. Maybe I'm under estimating what a team might give, but I'm shaking my head at this one.
-
Nah, shouldn't matter, if a guy deserves to be there, he should go. May have been a problem when they tried to represent every team, but not now. 4 guys there isn't a big deal.

Am I in bizzaro world?? Am I the only one that thought Ozzie would be one of the remaining 2 selected and whether Luongo goes or not is meaningless, Ozzie would have been there anyway? Whether he starts or not (which I am not sure about, but would think that position now lands with Leclaire) is meaningless. I can guarantee you Osgood doesn't care if he is the starter. I'm sure he cares about being selected, but not about starting. He'll be there regardless.
-
Yes, fans only decide the starters and since we currently don't have a starter, then I would think the #2 vote getter would be the next choice. Also, no way should Kipper and his 2.83 GAA, .896 sv% get in over Leclaire and his 1.97 GAA, .928 sv%.

To be honest, I think I only read the first half of your post and didn't notice the "our items" at the end. In any event, I think someone else mentioned that they couldn't see where it said that. I thought I would show it more explicitly.
-
Does it really matter who the starter is? Really? I think Leclaire will take that spot as he was 2nd in voting and Osgood will be there to play either the 2nd or 3rd period. Why does anyone really care who is starting the game? Being selected to the all star team itself means a little bit, but not much, being selected as the starter pretty much means absolutely nothing.
-
The "our items" section is the pricing for items you can order from them autographed, which will be sent to you. The "your items" section is prices for items you send in to get autographed. So, for example, you can send an photo to get autographed and it will cost you $43, or you can just order an autographed photo from the site for $46 (no need to send in your own photo).

They all may be the frontrunners for those awards, but by no means locks. I think the one that has the biggest edge at this point is Lidstrom, but you never know what will happen, by the end of the season, I would guess that Pronger may give him a run for it. Jennings, Hasek and Osgood will get a challenge from Luongo and maybe even Nabokov. Datsyuk will probably get a challenge from St. Louis and Alfredsson.

Depends on what you mean by "legitimate candidates." There is a pretty good chance that none of those guys are even nominated (i.e. top 3).

Oh, that silly Bob Clarke on that silly Steve Downie

In all seriousness, what do you expect the look on someone's face in the process of thowing a punch to be. In most cases, it is going to be something like this. -

I mostly agree with a lot of what Clarke has to say, he just takes it a little too far. I didn't see a big deal with the most recent Downie incident, it was a little silly to throw a late punch in that situation, but that happens all the time. If it was someone else on another team, we probably wouldn't have known about it unless we were watching the game. Blake is a real annoying guy too, so he probably deserved a bit of that. I think they were both being tied up and Blake was trying to hit Downie as well. -
That actually isn't that bad. A plain jersey before customization would be $250 or so, then add another $100 for customizing and you are looking at around $350. Getting the autograph for another $50 seems reasonable. By comparison, you can fill out a survey over at the HHOF for a chance to win an autographed Crosby jersey, which is valued at $750.

Currently, a sv % of .900, while not awful, doesn't get you in the top 30, so to say his stats are mediocre at this point would not be a stretch.

I suppose the use of the word "tainted" wasn't good, but you still need to look at it a little differently. Think about it this way, the league used to only play 50 games. If a team back then went 49-1, they would have finished with 98 points. In todays game, if a team goes 49-32-1, they would finish with 99 points. Yes, the team with 99 points would have the record for most points, but if you ask me, there is no question which team had the best season.
-
I'm not sure how what I said translates in anyway to Patriots vs. Dolphins. If you don't see the plain as day, simple difference between the comparison, I'm not sure I can help ya. How can you really ignore the number of games played?? Think about it, let's assume a team has a record of 65-15-0 in an 80 game schedule, giving them 130pts. Now, let's assume a team has a record of 65-16-1 in an 82 game schedule, giving them 131pts. In that scenario, the team playing 82 games would have the record for most points, but how can you not consider that record just a little tainted?

Fuhr and Moog was pretty good too.

There is no such requirement.
