    Complicated Osgood Question

Exactly, though, he's not even the biggest jerk on the list.

    Complicated Osgood Question

I think you need to re-visit your list then, because there are a lot of jerks on it.

    Complicated Osgood Question

But how on earth can you leave Belfour off your list? Other than the fact that you probably think he is a jerk. Check out his achievements: Wins - 3rd all-time Stanley Cup Winner Calder Trophy Winner 2 time Vezina Winner 4 Time Jennings Winner Also won the Roger Crozier Award Plus, he's an 8 time allstar.

    Pleasant Surprise This Morning

I meet the players in all sorts of circumstances. The older greats like Orr, Howe and Lafleur are normally at charity events. Occassionally, my company gets involved with this type of thing and sends individuals to help out (our form of charity). One of the events I have been to is a celebrity waiters luncheon. Basically, you buy tables and are served your lunch by celebrities and a number of items are auctioned off. The last time I was there, Orr could barely walk due to all the hockey stuff he was carrying in to be auctioned off. Oh, on Brashear, I didn't even talk to him, other than to say sorry (though it wasn't my fault). I just thought to myself, man that guy looks familar, but I didn't know why. It was a few minutes later that I noticed Washington was in town to play the Leafs (about 2 hours before game time), then I realized who it was. I was then wondering why he wasn't at the rink yet. Granted, he was about a 5 minute walk away, but I would have thought all the players would have been there at least 2-3 hours before game time.

A new Blue Line Comics Cartoon

Exactly. If you are indian, then tell us how you feel, otherwise, why would you have a point of view if the people who are supposedly not being respected....don't feel the same way?

    All-star voting

In terms of the ballot, you have to remember that it was probably already determined before the season started (or earlier in the year). Guys who have played great since last February is really who you should be looking at. I wouldn't worry too much about the voting anyway. Guys who deserve to be there based on their play this season (Kane maybe) will likely get selected. Too early to tell though.

    Complicated Osgood Question

Gotcha....though, he did play great in the playoffs, most years that I saw.

    Complicated Osgood Question

Ummm.....huh? Joseph has won 446 games, placing him 5th on the all-time list, only 1 behind Sawchuk, who sits in 4th. You can probably make other arguments against Joseph, but not winning much, I'm guessing, wouldn't be one of them.

what would it take to get vinny lecavalier?

Thornton had 22 goals last year, 29 the year before that and 23 the year before that. He is on pace for 29 this year. Crosby had 36 goals last year, 39 the year before and is on pace for 43 this year. He is definately more of a goal scoring threat than Thornton.

    Jeremy Roenick gets his 500th

Jean Beliveau, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Brett Hull, Jaromir Jagr, and Mats Sundin all scored hattricks to get their 500th. Sundin's was in OT.

    Gordie Howe Hattrick

This is a "did you know" thing. In Gordie Howe's close to 1,800 games played (regular season), he's actually only registered a Gordie Howe hattrick once.
  12. Great game. Both of these teams look pretty damn good. Other interesting thing, sounds like there is a lot more Habs fans at the game than Senator fans (the game is in Ottawa). I suppose that shoudln't be too surprising since Montreal is only about 2 hours away and I would guess almost everyone from Ottawa would have been a Habs fan before Ottawa joined the league.

    Bloodlines

Yan plays in the AHL. Wayne and Brent hold the record for most points by brothers. His brother Keith is the one that never played a game. Not that it makes much of a difference, Brent only has 4 points.

    Bloodlines

No one should say he was even as good as his dad. This isn't a knock on Brett, it's just that Bobby was that good.

    Complicated Osgood Question

Yeah, I see that with a different source now, not sure what's wrong with the other source (wonder if I understated others as well). Odd though, I didn't question the only once thing as I really don't remember him being an allstar, other than in 96.

Watching the Ottawa vs. Montreal Game Right Now

Yes, next is Leafs vs. Rangers, then Flames vs. Oilers.

    Complicated Osgood Question

Unless you are referring to allstar awards outside of the NHL....are you sure about that? What years was he an allstar?

Watching the Ottawa vs. Montreal Game Right Now

Huh? I guess I'm an idiot because this is the best game I've seen so far this year and I've seen a lot.

Watching the Ottawa vs. Montreal Game Right Now

Huet seems to have a lot to do with that, the Sens have had a ton of scoring chances.

    Complicated Osgood Question

I guess one other reason that I just can't see him being a HOFer.....so far, in his 13 year career, he's been an allstar only 1 time. That just doesn't say HOFer to me. So, just off the top of my head, there may be more, here are some multiple time allstars from the recent past: Roy - 12 times Brodeur - 10 times Belfour - 8 times Hasek - 8 times Vernon - 5 times Joseph - 3 times Richter - 3 times Turco - 3 times Potvin - 3 times Luongo - 2 times Theodore - 2 times If you are really not known as one of the elite goalies of your time, how on earth could you be considered a HOFer?

    Complicated Osgood Question

I think 400+ wins would be hard to ignore, but like most goalie stats, I hate it, because it is more to due to the team. Here's the thing, look at all goalies that played for the Wings over the past 15-20 years: Hasek - .717 win % Joseph - .619 win % Chelveldae - .575 win % Vernon - .659 win % Hodson - .625 win % Maracle - .594 win % Wregget - .577 win % Legace - .736 win % Do any goalies not have a great record with the Wings?
  22. toby91_ca

    Complicated Osgood Question

I agree for the most part. Osgood is a very good goalie, I just don't see him as HOF material.

    Datsyuk sagging at Zetterberg's expense

Goal scorers generally play wing not centre, so I don't think Dats lack of scoring is because he's on wing. I suspect that the coach feels Zetterberg is better defensively and that's why he is at centre when they play on the same line.

    Complicated Osgood Question

Do you really believe that? Can you really say with a straight face that the 95/96 team wasn't stacked? They were pretty much stacked for most of the 90s. In terms of Roy and Brodeur, the Canadiens and Devils were not crappy teams, but they were not comparable to Detroit. Thinking he didn't benefit from playign on Detroit in terms of his number of wins is just strange, I don't see it as an opinion. He has 344 wins, 260 came playing with the Wings. His winning percentage with the Wings = .641, with other teams = .525 (still good, but had he not played with the Wings, he would have far less wins). 01/02 season with New York, his teammate Garth Snow had a better winning % 02/03 season with St. Louis, his teammate Brathwaite had a better winning % 03/04 season with St. Louis, his teammate Brent Johnson (far less games however) had a better winning %. I'm not trying to say those goalies were better than him, just disputing that he is hall worthy because of the number of wins he has.
  25. toby91_ca

    Complicated Osgood Question

His number of wins are inflated because he played for the Wings......I don't think he was the main reason they won all those games.
