Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

I'm not sure how it works in the US, but if the game is on FSN, is it not on CI? I would think that there would only be blackouts in the local area for that.

I checked the schedule, it's on CI where I live, in HD.

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

According to NHL.com it is on FSN. I'm in Canada, so it usually doesn't matter what station the game is on (FSN, Vs, whatever, I still get it on CI).

    Shutout x 5...

Of course, but to me, that doesn't = better hockey. I've said this time and time again and I will bring it to my grave. If you make the nets bigger, or change the way a goalie plays for example, the same game played with the same quality shots will result in more goals, but how is that more exciting? It's the same game. Picture this: Player races down the ice, gets over the blueline and rips a shot on goal, but the goalie makes a great save. Picture the same play, except the goalie doesn't make that save and the puck goes in the net. Does that simple change make the game more exciting? I tend to give the fans of the game a little more credit than that.

    Shutout x 5...

So, maybe I'm confused, but are you suggesting that if goalies simply play stand up hockey instead of butterfly style, all of a sudden the game is going to be faster, more wide open and more exciting?

    Shutout x 5...

Normally I cringe at a lot of shutouts, but offense wasn't a big problem in those games, I mean 3 of them were 5-0 shutouts.

    Wow, this isn't even fair.

My point was that you were ripping into Brodeur, but continue to defend Hasek....that's all. My point of view: Don't have a huge problem with how either is doing right now because I know they will bounce back. However, for my money, I'd take Brodeur.

    Wow, this isn't even fair.

I thought you might be able to make excuses for Hasek. You point to his win/loss record being better than Brodeur's??? Do you think that the TEAM Hasek plays for might have a little bit to do with that record....just a little bit? In Brodeur's 7 losses, his team scored a total of 4 goals. That's right, 4 goals in 7 games, or 0.57 gpg. Tough to win those ones. EDIT: Please tell me what dates Brodeur allowed 4+ goals against because I have no idea how you get to 6.

    Ummm.....Marc Rodgers?

    Wow, this isn't even fair.

No doubt, Brodeur has struggled a bit this year, but he did at the start of last year too I think. But you know, Hasek has a 2.68 GAA and .877 sv% so far this year. Oh...where do you get that he has given up 4+ goals 7 times so far this year? After tonight, I count 4.
  12. toby91_ca

    Wow, this isn't even fair.

I know you are probably joking (I think), but in the 3 games leading up to tonight, Brodeur had a GAA of 1.29 and SV% of .951

    Wow, this isn't even fair.

I've been watching this game and have determined that with the current coaching of the Pens, Crosby will have no chance at breaking Gretzky's single season scoring record, not that anyone really thought that he had a chance. I think the Pens have had 3 powerplays since going up 4-0 and I don't think Crosby got playing time on any of them. I understand what the idea is there, bu this is not peewee house league where you don't want to embarass your opponent. Back in the Oilers day, Gretzky would be out there for all of those chances, including at the end of the game to get a shot at the empty net.

Exactly, have a look at where Ottawa stood this time last year, or even into December.

    Howard's career potential: 1A goalie?

No....he's not even in the AHL right now, isn't he on Detroit's roster? Not sure if he still is and if he is, it won't be for very long. In terms of his play in the AHL so far this year, he's only played 4 games, so it really doesn't tell you much, but his stats are as follows: GAA - 3.00 SV% - .902 Not in the top 30 for either.

once again hudler gets screwed over

I can understand your point, but I think it is more about what's best for Hulder than what's best for the team. In my opinion, what's best for the team is to have Franzen get more playing time than Hudler. In terms of Hudler being more offensively gifted, that will probably show by the fact that he will get more power play time. I have seen many, many, many scenarios where players of Hudler's ilk simply are not even on the roster. Basically, you have a guy that has NHL level offensive abilities, but not quite good enough for 1st or 2nd line and don't have the qualities desired for 3rd and 4th line roles.

once again hudler gets screwed over

Actually, I don't think there is a big difference in production (stats wise) and Franzen brings more beyond that than Hudler does. Looking at the 06/07 regular season stats: Franzen - 0.435 ppg Hudler - 0.329 ppg For those that love the production per ice time argument, which I hate: Franzen - 0.0279 points per minute Hudler - 0.0328 ppm However, remember, Hulder played much more power play time than Franzen, a lot of Franzen's extra playing time came on PK.

outdoor game teams to wear vintage jerseys.

I have no idea if there is an actual rule about keeping it closed during the winter, but if they do, it could simply be due to weather than an actual rule. Also, I'm not aware of any major sporting events played there during the winter. But hey, they could always play at Exhibition stadium or whatever it is called now (where the soccer team plays).

Zetterberg NHL's First Star for October

Maybe, but doubtful. I just think that it is cool that we can even have these discussions about one of the Wings....and Datsyuk isn't bad either.

Zetterberg NHL's First Star for October

In terms of better 25 game stretches, I think Crosby had one close to 47 or 48 points. In terms of him keeping up that level of play, I doubt it, that would mean he would end the year with 140-150 pts. I don't think that is going to happen.
  23. toby91_ca

Zetterberg NHL's First Star for October

Yeah, but where do you stop? You can look at an isolated time frame and point to a certain player having better stats, but if you include an additional week prior to that maybe a different player has the better stats for example. That 25 game stretch was not the best 25 game stretch by any player durig the year.

Zetterberg NHL's First Star for October

I was specifically referring to the period prior to his injury as that is the time frame that the other poster was referring to. I was not taking into account the current season.
