Not sure why you need to be an ass about it with your response (I know nothing about Glen Murray?). Just so you know, I have known Murray quite well since his days in junior (not personally, but as a player). I see you have conviently taken Sammy's best years for the comparison, but I'll let that slide since it is the 2 most recent years, but even looking at those stats, I don't see how Sammy's 0.64ppg and 0.30gpg are comparable to Murray's 0.80ppg and 0.42gpg. Extrapolate over an 82 game season and Sammny gets 24 goals and 52 pts compared to Murray's 35 goals and 65 pts. Maybe you think those are comparable stats, I don't. If you want to take their career totals into perspective, Sammy has 0.18gpg and 0.41ppg compared to Murray's 0.34gpg and 0.66ppg.
-
How do you make that comparison? I agree, $4 million is probably too much, but Sammy's production is not comparable to Murray.
-
I don't know about that....in the last 4 seasons, the Ducks have lost in the Conference Finals once, lost in the Finals once and Won the cup once.
-
Lang is nowhere near the goal scorer Murray is. Also, Murray is from Halifax, so that can only be a + Seriously though, I would only make the deal in certain situations and I do not think the Wings are in one of those situations.

I don't know how clear that is, I think Wayne collected a few assists over his career.

Which of the 7 'big' names get into the Hall this year?

There are guys in the HOF as players, who never played a single NHL game. -
Only problem is that you would not be able to start 18 skaters at the same time, as the playing card would suggest.
-
I don't think so, I think the $180 that I paid was actually a discount. Since I am an annual subscriber, the next year is automatically renewed, so you really can't get there any earlier than I do.
-
I'm pretty sure I only paid about $180 or so.
-
The year before Bowman came to Detroit, they finished with 103 pts (good for 5th overall), the year before that they finished with 98 pts (I think that was good for 2nd overall).
-
Looks like Bowman had some serious plans he wanted to start developing, including discussions with various folks around the NHL about coming on board, etc. What I get from all of this is that he ultimately didn't want the job because it appeared that he would not be given the control he needed. I'm really not sure what to think. On one hand, it appears as though the Leafs are actually trying to make changes in management and build a better team, but at the same time, it comes back to the same old crap that goes on with upper management.
-
If it were that easy, that's what he would do (hell of a lot easier than overpaying for another team and moving them). Fact is, this is the only way Basillie will get a team in Canada, the NHL will not grant an expansion team to Hamilton, they have already been passed over.

Started playing at 5 years old and still playing, no breaks (30 years old now). I took up competitive ball hockey as well about 5 years ago. I used to play 5 times a week back in high school, but now I only play ice hockey once a week and ball hockey 1-2 times a week (I suppose that a lot if you talk to my wife....especially now that it's golf season as well).

In terms of Toronto, it really depends on perspective. If you are a hockey fan, which obviously all of us are, the team is run very poorly. They are not managed how they should be to build a competitive team. From a business perspective, it's hard to argue. They are the richest team in the league....however, wouldn't that be the case regardless of management? A team in Hamilton would probably force the Leafs to try and build a better hockey team.

what are our chances of keeping our 1st rd pick ?

Late first round pick in weak draft year.....does it really matter? -
Do you honestly think a casual viewer will even notice this rule change? I would be willing to bet that even most super-fans wouldn't really notice, or didn't even know what the original rule was (i.e. had to be past centre).
-
In a more recent era you have to at least include Claude, Dale and Ulf. I'm sure there are tons more from years ago.
-
I would hope he doesn't get $5 million, that's a bit much for 1 good year.

Well, 2+ hours isn't really accurate. Hamilton is about 30-45 minutes from Toronto and is less than 1.5 hours from Buffalo. Granted, traffic on a game night would extend that, though, a Go Train ride to Toronto avoids that issue and avoids paying for parking as well. However, I do not think there is a big issue of having to convert Leaf fans to draw attendence in Hamilton. I don't think you have to be a fan of the team to attend the games. For example, I live in between Toronto and Hamilton and I am not a Leaf fan, but have gone to games when the opportunity arises. As a hockey fan, I would go to games in Hamilton just to be able to see NHL hockey live.

They tried to get Quinn last year instead of Lewis, but were not willing to pay him the money he wanted. As someone already suggested, Quinn may end up in Ottawa, but I somewhat question the working arrangement. Quinn has become used to running the ship (i.e. no GM to report to).

The person was asking whether an NHL cup winning team has ever been contracted. Not sure how the Rockies fits the bill. As far as I can tell, it's just the Senators and the Maroons.
-
Montreal Maroons Ottawa Senators

I don't want to speak for someone else, but I think you interpreted his comments differently than me. I took the comments as being that it takes time to switch allegiences after generations of cheering for a different team. I think that is quite different than taking time to build a market. Is that true? I'm not asking from any real informed point of view, but I would have thought that the Hamilton area would have more people than the Grand Rapids area.

Some info on Joe Thornton. http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Thornton/Thornton_bio.html This seems to suggest Wayne was Sakic's idol growing up, but not sure why he chose #19, could be because of Stevie. Someone mentioned they thought it was because of Trottier. I think Steve picked #19 because of Trottier, not sure about Sakic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Sakic
