You're right, they re-signed Holmstrom back in February, that was an oversight on my part (but is just going to make my point even more....they'll be over the cap). I am not sure if you are talking about Schnieder or Souray...actually, pretty sure you are talking about Schnieder, but it could really apply to either one. Lilja was cleared of any rape charges, so if you want to call him a rapist, you may be opening yourself up to being sued for slander.

I agree with those that suggest that you hold off discussions until after the Wings season, which will hopefully won't come until mid-June That said, I think you need to consider the Cap, which is expected to be around $47-48 million next year and based on what you are saying here, you are probably already pushing $48 million and still need to sign 4 more forwards (Holmstrom being one of them).

It is actually EVERY game in OT has been won by the visiting team involving the Wings. The Wings are 2-0 in OT on the road and 0-2 at Home. In terms of the entire playoffs, the road team has an OT record of 12-5.
-
It was game 1 of the WCF against Colorado. Colorado won that game in OT.

While that would show confidence, I would think there goal right now is winning game 6, take it one game at a time. If you get caught looking ahead too far, you may get burned.

So far in these playoffs, the team that outshoots its opponent has won 55% of the games. I believe this stat would be more greatly in favour of the team shooting more in the regular season since goalies stealing games in the playoffs is much more common. Whoever said the team that shoots less wins 65% of the time is simply wrong.

Them's not the facts dude. What is a fact is that it is your opinion, which is a non-objective opinion. Before you try to argue your opinion is not biased, think about it, it is impossible. When you have a rooting interest in the Wings, you will never be able to be objective in assessing calls going for or against them. My philosophy has always been that you should never, ever blame the refs for a loss, it is just the most gutless thing you can do. There will always be bad calls and they will generally go both ways. Anyway that thinks the refs are against the Wings and call games that way is just plain stupid. In the heat of a game, I'll get pissed off at a call I see as bad, in some cases after I cool down, I see that it was the right call, other times I will still think the call stinks, but even then, refs do not decide the games.

Sorry, but I think posts like this after every Wings loss is ruining this board.

The Norris trophy is not for gentlemanly play, that's the Lady Byng. Seriously though, something like this would have no impact on whether someone is Norris worhy or not. Isn't Chelios a former Norris winner?

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

Really? That's news to me. I think if you check the ice times of each of the lines for each team, you may come up with a different conclusion on that one. My opinion is that the 4th line for both teams play very little. I think the ice time is divided pretty evenly for both teams. -
I was just thinking about this. There is a very good chance that the 2 teams that end up in the SCF will be captained by Europeans and in fact, they would both be Swedes.
-
I realize that.
-
The Norris trophy winner has already been determined, simply won't be announced until after the playoffs. All voting occurs before the playoffs begin.
-
Already mentioned here awhile ago, maybe even twice.

The one thing that scares me is that as good as Redden is, I'm not sure I would even rate him as one of their best 3 defensemen, maybe best 3, but I think there are at least 2 that are playing better than him right now.

I missed most of the first and third periods last night due to my own hockey game to play, so I am not sure if this has been discussed. When I look at The Frozen Moment and check the replays of this save (one of the saves in the nhl.com video highlights), I don't understand how Hasek got away with throwing his stick. Was this discussed at all during the game by announcers, during intermission, on here? I haven't heard it discussed at all, but he clearly threw his stick. Just trying to be non-biased here, because I have seen so much of everyone complaining about non-calls on whatever team the Wings are playing, or phantom calls against the Wings....they certainly got away with one here, which theoretically could have been a penalty shot (not sure if it would have gone that far, haven't checked the rule).

Getzlaf15: He may look like a complete idiot when his snow angels do not go well and he doesn't stop the puck, but fact is, he stops the puck more often then not, so....it works, what is there to really argue. If he played a more normal style, maybe he is only an average goalie, but he is obviously one of the all time best and if he plays a crazy style, so be it.
-
No, it was clear. My problem is that others, as you can see, have stated that it doesn't matter, he made the save, when in fact, I think that play probably results in a penalty shot. If the same play happened "during a penalty shot", I think there would be an automatic goal awarded.

Let's be real here, Dom knows exactly what he is doing there. Sometimes he gets away with and I'm sure sometimes he doesn't. To be honest, I think Dom is extremely clever, he knows that in a play like that, you may be able to get away with that and have some think your stick got kicked out, but if you watch the replays, it is pretty clear that Getzlaf had nothing to do with Dom losing his stick. Also, I don't think the stick not impacting the result of the shot really matters, but I could be wrong.

I totally agree, I hate the "if" game. If the Moen goal didn't count, the game wouldn't have ended right there with a 3-2 win for Detroit, there was still 15 minutes to play, so who knows what would have happened. What "if" Lemieux was healthy his whole career. Can't stand those discussions.
-
I really don't understand why he's playing with a broken hand, unless it is a minor crack or something. I can understand if it was Lidstrom or Zetterberg and you want to play regardless and do what you can, but if Calder is not healthy, simply replace him with someone who is.

If I recall correctly, it was a Saturday afternoon game and was watching at a friend's place after golf.

Pessimistic View - they got outplayed pretty bad most of the game and neither of their goals really should have happened, very flukey. Very lucky to get away with a win. Optimistic View - they got outplayed pertty bad most of the game and neither of their goals really should have happened, very flukey. Very lucky to get away with a win. Difference from pessimistic view is that even though they didn't play all that well, they still found a way to win. I'm going with the optimistic view of course. You have to with a win anyway.

While I wouldn't trade Datsyuk for Gomez, it definately wouldn't be as laughable as the Thornton deal. Gomez is a very good player. His regular season wasn't his best, I think a few injuries held him back, but he was pretty damn good in these playoffs (14pts in 11 games....while playing for Jersey).
