He was suspended for 3 games.

Why? If you are referring to the goal that was waived off, it had nothing to do with the refs, they actually called it a goal. The NHL (league) called it a no goal. Also, if the goal stood, it would have changed the game, you can't simply think that the same things would have happend from that point on and Buffalo would only score 1 goal.
-
I have the complete opposite opinion. I love playoff overtime. I suffer from a bit of letdown when someone actually scores, because I really want to keep watching, don't want it to end.

On the New York no goal - I thought it could have gone either way and I would have called it a "no goal." From most angles, it simply looks like a redirection in, but from one angle, it looked like his skate was sliding towards the net with the puck against his skate and then there seemed to be an extra push from that skate....that made up my mind.

Makes no difference to me. I remember the days of sleeping until late morning/early afternoon, but it hasn't been that way for many years now. Probably stopped when I finished university, so around 22. Nowadays, I am awake by around 7-8am regardless of the day of the week. Even when I was in sleep-in-mode, it didn't matter, if there was a game on early, I made sure I was up for it. I left drinking for parties though, not for watching hockey games. I've also gotten up at 5 or 6am quite a few times to watch World Juniors when the games were in Europe somewhere.

Has far more to do with the team they are playing than the location of that team geographically.

I don't think it is that big of a deal in the playoffs. At most, they will fly out west twice during a series. If the series goes 5 games or less, they are only making one flight there and back and then have significant rest time anyway. I think it would be different if they were going back and forth one game after another, but you basically play 2 games in Detroit and fly to San Jose and stay there for 3-4 days and fly back, not a big deal if you ask me.
-
Couldn't agree more. Having them make the Finals will be the worst thing that could happen.

I thought the referring was okay, there were no blatant phantom calls in my opinion, but at the same time, I didn't like the fact that there were calls that were not made. It goes back to the inconsistency thing. Why are some things called in some games and not in others. I understand that it is a very difficult job, but they clearly put the whistle away on occasion. I thought in the new NHL, this was not supposed to happen? If they decide that this is how the games will be officiated, I am okay with that, I will be slightly unhappy since skilled players will be held back, but at least I will know that is the intent. Don't tell me that you are going to call the clutching and grabbing and then ignore it when it happens.

Best thing about round 2, playing an AMERICAN team.

He would take a commercial flight.

But you basically said Dom is the better goalie simply because he is moving on and Kipper is not. I think that argument is open for more critism than someone saying the other guy had to fact 40+ shots a night. If you want to argue quality of shots, that's fine, but don't suggest Dom is better just because he is moving on. The Wings are moving on and Dom happens to be a part of that team. For the record, I thought Dom played a great series, but he was not the better goalie in the series.

He has faced about 210 shots from Vancouver so far I think.

He has to win tonight before he makes it to round 2.

Honestly, I never really thought that their player development was all that great or noticeably better than any other team. They have made some good picks over the years (Datsyuk and Zetterberg), but one could also question why they didn't pick them earlier if their scouting was so good. The guys picked before them in the draft haven't developed very well (just playing devil's advocate here...I do think their scouting is top notch). Back to the topic though, I think the jury is out on most of the names you have mentioned, almost all of them are still developing and it has been fairly slow development for some (Kronwall, Kopecky, Franzen)

No, it's automatic, didn't you know? If a guy plays only 5 minutes and scores 1 goal, he would have had 4 goals if he played 20 minutes. It is a pretty obvious correlation, not sure why only a few people know this...
-
Well, due to low totals, the results are kinda skewed. If they score on their next powerplay, I think there % will go from 8% to 12%. Still pretty bad though.

San Jose / Anahiem?

Too bad none of Hossa, Kovalchuk or Kozlov showed up in the playoffs. Not that it matters, I think they were going to lose anyway. Classic screwed up standings system that has the Rangers playing Atlanta, while Ottawa and Pittsburgh have to play each other in the first round.
-
It really depends. A lot of times, the coach is looking for that right fit, for guys to gel and have great chemistry together. Once that happens, you usually don't break it up unless there is reason. Just for interest sake, Bowman used to juggle his lines all the time in the playoffs.
-
He should have not worried about the puck and simply kept himself between Iginla and the net. He gambled and it didn't work.
-
As I already suggested earlier, gliding into a check does not negate charging, in fact, I would think that most charging penalties include players gliding in for a check, but I really have no basis for that thought.
-
It was just a sarcastic joke. You really can't draw any conclusions from the picture other than the fact that his feet are off the ice, but it doesn't show when his feet came off the ice. If they came off the ice after initial contact, that's fine.
-
You may want to re-read my post. I suggested that I thought it was a clean hit, but wouldn't be scratching my head if a charging penalty was called, because I do think there is some merit to that argument.
