So, it's all about the money? I agree with you on the big issue would be whether there will be affects on day to day life, but we don't know that at this point. However, it would have to be extremely difficult not being able to do what you have been doing and working towards your entire life. Money isn't going to help that.

Both have hearings this morning.

Just in case anyone is wondering, the second twitter quote WAS NOT a response to Lunchbox to his question to Shanahan, it was a response from some beat writer.

Scary to think, it took about 30 or so stitches for Hall.....back when Borje Salming got stepped on, he required about 250 stitches.

I'm not sure what's wrong with this guy. If you look it up, this is 1 of about 4 or 5 other slew footing incidents by him.

This seems really strange....

14 PIM in 47 games

Well, there's no comparison from that perspective, but along those lines, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what Kane did, he is moving towards the net the whole time (maybe slow, but he's moving the whole time). I thought the question most had was whether the puck maintained continous motion towards the net. I can see how a strict read of some of the rules that would be a problem, but I thought they tweaked the rules on that and this is the one I was referring to. Kane might have pulled the puck back slightly..once, but this is where I compare to Datsyuk's and you can see that Datsyuk does that at least as much, if not more.

yes, you have blinding homer glasses on. i have no problem with either, but if you have a problem with Kane's, I don't know how you cannot have a problem with some of Datysuk's.

He wears one doesn't he? Problem is that he wasn't wearing his helmet during warmups.

The good old media. I think the media is getting more and more annoyed that they aren't given constant updates, so they make stuff up to force people to talk to them. This should sut the media up for a little while at least

I wouldn't question whether someone knows Holland's neighbor or is Holland's neighbor, but i do question the validity of Holland disclosing such information, actually I'd question the information in general because if it was going to happen, there would be no delay.

I understand why, but I'm not a big fan of Ovechkin being there, especially since he's being outperformed by a teammate that didn't get selected.

As already noted, more potential as that is all you have to go on in the draft. It is a crapshoot for the most part and you can go on and on all day, week, month coming up with examples of why was so and so chosen over so and so. I'll give you another, why did the Wings pick Jody Gage and Boris Fistric instead of Mark Messier? Looking at the players you pointed out though, using a purely stats based analysis (much more goes into the draft obviously), you'll get the following (from year they were drafted). I left out Axelsson as he was playing in Europe, harder to compare from pure stats perspective vs. the other guys that all played in the CHL. Emmerton - 6'0", 190 lbs, 66 games, 90 pts Matthias - 6'4", 216lbs, 67 games, 34 pts Lucic - 6'4", 220lbs, 62 games, 19 pts Marchand - 5'9", 190lbs, 68 games, 66 pts Looking at that and knowing the draft is a crapshoot, it should make a lot of sense as to why Emmerton and Matthias were drafted ahead of Lucic and Marchand. Emmerton clearly looked to have the most offensive upside and he had good size. Matthias and Lucic were both had great size, but Matthias appeared to have better offensive upside (they were both drafted very close together. While Marchand appeared to be better offsensively than those to, he was very small. Guys like him often don't even get drafted. If you are that size, you have to be great offensively to get a sniff and it's not like he was lights out in that regard, he was just about 1 ppg.

But he's never played a game for the Wings and there is guarantee he ever will.

I heard this Calgary columnist on Toronto radio last night and I couldn't help but dig up his article on Kusnetsov. I get the sense that he doesn't like the Russian player too much.....or Ovechkin and Semin for that matter. My link

Flyers fans attack Rangers fans after Winter Classic

I have oftened wondered how certain people turn out the way they do....but I think I'm starting to figure it out. If this guy has children in the future, there is a good chance they will grow up to be something like their daddy. -
I agree that he has reached the point where he should retire at the end of the year, but to say he hasn't looked good since the lockout is a bit off. I mean, he had seasons of 43, 44, 45 and 48 wins, he's had 41 shutouts since the lockout and he's won 2 vezina trophies.

Henrik Sedin's Comments on Vancouver's Toughness

How can you leave out Max, he's the worst in the entire league. -
Also, this isn't an NHL only thing, I'm pretty sure you'd get a fine for the same thing in any professional sporting league.
-
I used the playoff assignments as an example, there are many ways that refs get disciplined and refs get dismissed all the time. There are a few that are currently arguing wrongful dismissal as well. Yes, doing a poor job embarrases the league, which is why they get disciplined. However, the poor job is embarrasment enough, having someone get behind a camera and a mic and go on about it just adds to the embarrasment. Like I said, find me a company out there what wouldn't take serious issue with one of their employees voicing their concerns in the public vs. doing in behind closed doors.
-
Will he play? Isn't he currenlty on the Wings' roster?
-
If you get flamed, it would be by big time homers.
-
I have no problem with the fine. I understand people's views that if a ref did a terrible job, then you should be able to call him out on it, but I disagree a bit on that. If the ref made terrible calls, he'll be dealt with accordingly (won't get playoff assignments, etc.). Torts could have complained privately to the league, etc. Making public comments like that embarrases the league and questions the integrity of the game. I have to imagine that if any Joe Blow did something like that publicly about his employer, he'd be in a lot of hot water. (I know the league isn't his employer, but the anology works I think).
