And of course the one time Sammy has an open shot, instead of bearing down, he shoots a flutter ball into Kipper's chest. Go figure!
-
Another fantastic game; Kipper again was the only thing that kept it close. I can't stress enough how much I want Sammy to be the odd man out when Bert comes back. His lazy penalty let Calgary back in, and he's atrocious on the point. Great game by Lidstrom again! I hope we go into Calgary with the mentality that we're down 2 instead of being up. IF we take game 3, it's over, so you know we'll get their best effort. No he's someone who's been around the block enough to know you never call sweep after you won 2 home games. Anything can happen.

Yeah, he's injured. http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID...424/1050/SPORTS

That's some pretty creative reporting there. I didn't watch the game, but I just saw a clip of the play in question. There was no elbow, and it didn't look at all dirty. Radulov did come in from behind, but it wasn't in a vicous way. The hit reminded me of the Nieminen hit on Lebda. I guess if you thought that hit was dirty, then you probably think this one is too. Personally, I think both hits are similar to plays that happen a dozen times in every hockey game. For once I'm going to agree with Trotz, Radulov was trying to dislodge the puck; there was nothing dirty intended. Edit: The "creative reporting" came from cbssportsline, not Drake. Just thought I should point that out.

I'm still digesting how we lost this one tonight. Three infield hits, in the bottom of the 10th inning? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.
-
Imagine if Bertuzzi went afer Tanguay or Huselius. That's the equivalent to what Iginla pulled. Going after Zetterberg was pure bulls***, and people here lost a lot of respect for him when he did that. I don't ever remember Shanny, when he played here, going after the skill guys. That said, welcome to the board. It's always nice to have another perspective on things.
-
Trust me, most of the people on this board would think the same thing if he didn't play for the Wings. People don't want to give Bertuzzi any credit, because of the Moore incident. It was the same on this board before the trade. The truth lies somewhere in between. Bertuzzi can be a dominant player when he's right. He skates and handles the puck exceptionally well for a man his size, and when he hits people, he does serious damage. He's not a fighter (like some think) and doesn't go out of his way to be especially physical. Your comparison to Holmstrom isn't that far off actually. They are similar players. Betuzzi is just bigger and more skilled.
-
You are correct. There is no 23 player limit in the post season.
-
By the way, this just became an E4 on his blog.
-
I like how you ended it.
-
Is Bertuzzi even definite to come back for game 2? The way our injuries have gone lately, I wouldn't be surprised if he's out for the year.
-
He was extremely solid. He had one bad play (the one where his pocket go picked in front of the net). Other than that, I couldn't have asked for more from him.
-
The Bertuzzi trade iis about winning now. When you can go out and get a player that gives you a better opportunity to win the cup, and the price is only a mid-level prospect, I say you have to do it.
-
I know, but one can only dream. Unfortunately he's a class act. Damn him!
-
Let's hope the Flames keep talking. In fact, I'm praying for a, "Burke-in-'02 like outburst" from Sutter.

Love....Love....Love

I take it as a compliment. Most people don't realize how good Zetterberg is because they don't watch him all the time as we do.
-
Cry me a river - I'm sure if it weren't for the refs, you would have killed us. I'm literally shaking for game 2. What's up with Iginla running Hasek? Maybe Cleary thought goaltenders were open game after watching Iginla play.
-
Absolutely. They outworked the Flames; this looked nothing like the team we've seen bounced out in the past years.
-
Let me guess, you did the, let's have a Jager-Bomb everytime Iginla cries to the refs game!
-
Happens 100% of the time On a more serious note, Dats getting a goal tonight was so important. He looked like a man skating without 100 pounds of baggage after the goal.
-
Just a little tidbit for those who watched the game on FSN tonight (or even better, went to the game). The guys on Versus couldn't believe how good Zetterberg looked after being off for 19 games. By the end of the night, they had convinced themselves that there was no way he could have been hurt that bad, and the Wings were clearly embellishing the injury. It's funny, I wish dearly that I could watch the games on FSN, but it is fun to hear other announcers reaction when they see up close how good Z is.
-
So you'd be happy if we sold out a 15,000 seat arena?
-
Unless Babcock does the unthinkable and decides to sit Bertuzzi out. I can see it now: Bertuzzi has a strained...uh...um...uh...upper body injury, pull.
-
Nice! Frazen with a really strong game tonight.
