Hull's comment might have been the most interesting thing about this game. On one hand, Hull is known to make comments out of his ass when he's bored. On the other hand, you could see him having inside info, considering he used to play with Dats. I agree, Lebda looked real good. He should slide over to the 2nd line power play unit now that Kronwall is out.

Sit him for the rest of the season. Who cares about finishing 1st; the one thing that could derail all our hopes is Lidstrom getting injured.

I think Babcock should sit the whole team down the last few games and bring up the griffins to finish the season--Ithe level of the teams play shows that either everyone is tired or can't get excited about playing hockey until the playoffs. This leads guys to get injured because they really aren't into the game

Well, except for his turnover that led to the 2nd goal last night. Other than that, he's been fine.

If Babcock follows his own philosophy, he'll sit Sammy. He wants players that drive to the net. Sammy is the exact opposite of that. He's a big, strong guy, but he's clearly more comfortable playing a peremiter game. I have a suspision that unless something changes (like Sammy producing) he'll be the one sitting, at least to start. Take a look at his minutes the past 5 games: 10:34 11:58 10:20 11:31 12:04 No exactly a ringing endorsement.

I would think he'll stay up. Unless they plan to only travel with 6 D, which I doubt.

Yeah, he's definitely got a little bit of Datsuk in his game.

Ribeiro has impressed me. I'd obviously take Iginla, but I think he's a better player than most people realize.

I personally vote for Filppula. The kid can play, he just needs the chance.

I'm not against shootouts (I prefer anything over a tie) but that had me cracking up.

Lang has 1 point in his last 7 games! Even though he's a rookie, I feel like Filppula's the better option at this point. I'm hoping Babcok comes to this realization sooner rather than later.

You never want to peak too soon, and I'd rather get a clunker like this out of the way before the real season begins.

I know we're trying to look on the bright side of things, so here goes.... Somebody other than Dasksuk scored tonight . Also, both Maltby and Draper scored . I'm about 90% sure somebody played a practical joke and told them the playoffs started today.

My thoughts on the game tonight: 1. I'm obviosly disappoointed we lost, but in the grand scheme of things, I think Kronner's injury was the bigger blow. Christ what a dissapointing day. First Kenny Rogers goes down, now Kronner. 2. I guess we'll probably have to get used to more Lilja, but his cross ice pass that led to the 2nd goal really drives me insane. Why would you do that with a 2 goal lead and less than 4 minutes to go? The bigger question, why did Babcok even dress him, when Lebda said he was ready to go? 3. We suck at shootouts, but we could be better if Babcock used a better lineup. Cleary over Hudler and Flip; sorry I'm not buying it. 4. I don't think the Wings ran out of gas, I think they tried to go into a defensive shell and got burned. They were clearly the better team in OT, and if they had played the same way in the 3rd, Dallas never comes back.

We need to start getting some offense from some of the guys below. Holmstrom - 11 games without a goal Calder - 0 points in last 6 games Lang - 1 point and no goals in last 6 games Lidstrom - 1 point and no goals in the last 6 games Sammy - 1 point, 0 goals, ten million shots in the last 6 games Hopefully, they're just getting their cold streaks out of the way before the playoff begin.

I don't think the award is as "in the bag" as some people think. The more I hear this talked about by analysts, the more Niedermayer's name is being brought up. For instance, the St. Louis announcer (Bernie Federko) brought up that Lidstrom had only 43 hits all year, and that he felt Niedermayer was deserving because he could have won it last year.

Read on Mlive that Lebda will be a game time decision, but he will take part in the preskate, so we might miss the "pain train" tonight.

Here's where I disagree. Do you honestly think there are NHL caliber defensemen who don't play the body in a 1-on-1 situation in the regular season? You'll catch the odd instance, but 99% of the time, they play the man, not the puck. That rule is so basic, there are midget level players that know better. He's shown he get beat these guys in the regular season; he can do it in the playoffs too. It's all about confidence. Personally, I think all the defensemen in the league would be ecstatic if Datsuk took your advice, considering most of their jockstraps are hanging from the rafters of the "Joe" from the moves he's put on them.

I disagree. He just needs to be himself.
