I said to be at their best . I realize they're both good players without each other. They just take it to a new level when they're together.

That's why I'm hoping Hank can get in a couple of games before the playoffs start. To be at their best, Hank and Dats need each other.

Somebody needs to tell these announcers to focus. We know every back story to these two teams, but nothing about tonight's game. They didn't even show the penalty, which looked like a bulls*** call in real speed. Also, I generally like to know when there's a PP. They did a piss poor job explaining that Markov got 4 minutes. You know, the important stuff. Maybe, they can take a break from Dustin Penner's life story to call the game from here on out. Finally, wtf is this guys facination with Hasek's diving. He brought it up numerous times. Oh yeah, how about mentioning the fact that he legitimately got run over - and no call! Maybe Hasek wouldn't have to dive if these refs opened their eyes every once in awhille! Sorry - had to rant.

Does Campbell even have the authority to ban fighting? Unless I'm mistaken, the GMs (and competition comittee?) would have to approve the ban, which I doubt they would. The GMs just voted to increase the number of instigator penalties before suspending a player, which is a move in the opposite direction. Also, how does the Simon and Tootoo incident (refrenced in the story) have anything to do about fighting? In fact, I see these incidents as more of a "pro fighting" argument. If the players involved had just dropped the gloves and squared off, then all involved would have been better served.

Say Babcock comes to the same conclusion; who centers the 2nd line? Filppula; or do you split up Datsuk and Zatta? Personlly, I would go with Filppula. He's shown himself to be better defensively than Lang, yet he still has enough offensive skills to get the job done on the second line. His speed would definitely be an assett on 2nd line, especially since neither Calder nor Bertuzzi are burners. Also, you don't lose the magic that Datsuk and Zatta have together on the top line. The question then is, are you comfortable with our 2nd line center being a rookie whose averaged around 11 minutes per game so far this year?

Agreed. They play too similar a game. I think the only reason they were together is Babcock wanted to get Bert some confidence going by playing him with Dats, who is our best playmaker. In the future, Bert should be on the 2nd line. As for his game last night, he looked rusty early on (as expected), but got better as they game went on. He showed really soft hands on his rush to the net and during the shootout. He wasn't overly physical, but he made his presense known a few times. Overall, it was a good first game for somebody whose been out almost all year.
