What a stroll down memory lane; It really makes me miss those days.
-
Didn't he end up getting suspended for a year (or go to jail - one or the other), soon after his breakout year in 87-88? I became a Wings fan during the 89 playoffs (which the Wings lost in the 1st round to Chicago), and Probert had already had his problems by then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Horn just fail a physical in N.O.? He can't be the Falcon's answer at WR, can he?
-
Here's an article from Scott Burnside of ESPN that examines both sides of the argument. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=2790975 While I would like to see the Wings go East, I don't want to see Pittsburgh lose their team. That would be horrible for the league, and worse for the fans.

Here is what Hockey Futures has to say: Talent Analysis Axelsson is a small winger has strong skating ability and is an intense forchecker. He works hard all over the ice and isn’t afraid of using his body. Axelsson is also a good stick handler who has soft hands in tight and can make plays on the offense. He has a well developed hockey sense and is a good playmaker. He can be used in all situations and has good attitude both on and of the ice. On the down side he needs to add some upper body strength and shoot more. Axelsson is a smart hockey player who knows what he needs to work on in order to get better. When asked by affiliate Eliteprospects.com what his strengths and weaknesses are, Axelsson said, “I think that my hockey sense and my skating are some of my strengths and also that I have the physique to work hard all the time. Looking at the weaknesses then I would say that my shot and my passing accuracy could be better, and I could be stronger as well.†http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/anton_axelsson

After TooToo went over, It looked like Filppula was stepping on his stick, while doing the "who me" routine when the ref came over.
-
Last time Pronger was injured, they went 2-7-2. Luckily for them, their schedule doesn't look too tough the next couple of weeks.
-
He did score a goal in the Chicago game, only the ref blew the whistle too soon. That aside, he hasn't been all that noticable. Hey, this vote is rigged; the yes button doesn't work. You wouldn't happen to be from Florida, would you?

Franzen plays on the "checking" line, so it's not like his role is to cary the puck. Detroit's been playing puck posession since the early 90s and guys like McCarty and Lapointe found a way to hit.

April 28-29. The equivalent to the Super Bowl for Lion fans

Franzen's been a really good find by our scouting staff. I wish he'd hit more often, because when he does, he can be an absolute force. I feel like Franzen's only scratched the surface of his potential thus far.

Don't tell anyone, but Atlanta is following the exact same methodology that Millen used when drafting 3 straight receivers in the 1st round. They drafted Roddy White in 2005 and Michael Jenkins in 2004, now they're looking to draft another receiver to try and salvage Vick.
-
I think they want Johnson, and if they don't trade up to get him, Tampa will definitely draft him at #4.
-
On one hand, it makes sense, because Atlanta definitely wants to draft a receiver, and Calvin Johnson is supposedly the best bet in a long time. On the other hand, Atlanta has said for awhile that they won't trade Schaub.

The Griffins announced their playoff roster this week, and Langfeld wasn't on it, which means he is up for good (at least for this year).
-
I think that's part of it. Last year was the 1st year where he was "The Man", and that's an adjustment. Yzerman himself had some notorious playoff struggles before he became the consummate playoff performer.
-
I've never been impressed with Benson either. The one saving grace that Chicago has is they play in the worst division in the NFL. Lance Briggs, Chicago's pro-bowl linebacker, could also be gone. They franchised him, but he could force a trade.
-
Dats has been great lately; he is far and away the best stick handler in the game. The play he made last night, using one hand to grab the puck, doing a spino-rama to get away from the Preds defenseman, then making a perfect feed to a crashing Lidstrom was incredible.

The injury situation is really a blessing in disguise. - First, it's allowing more ice-time time for Filppula and Hudler, which is important in case we need them in the playoffs due to injuries. I, for one, believe Filppula is playing his way onto the playoff roster. - Second, this might curtail the Wings pursuit of 1st place (and another President's trophy), which I believe is a good thing. IMO, it will be easier for this team without the pressure of another 1 vs. 8 seed, especially considering their recent history. - Finally, we're getting Osgood some more playing time. Hasek is great, but there is a decent chance he's not going to be healthy for the entire playoffs. If that happens, I'm happier with Ozzie if he's had enough games to shake off the rust.

The price was too high for the Wings, but it made sense for the Preds since they had the assets. Honestly, judging any deadline deal, until the dust from the Stanley Cup playoffs settle, doesn't make much sense. In most cases, the deal is dependant on the team making a long playoff run to be successfull. Edit: Grammar

No way! Branch is a DT, which is probably the Lions strongest position with Rogers and Redding. If anything, they might trade down and draft Gaines Adams (Defensive end) or Willis (Middle Linebacker). Also, reports say Branch looked out of shape at the combine, which shows you he's not the "live-and-breathe" football guy the Lions are looking for anyway. I think the Lions priority should try to move down and aquire as many picks as possible, but if that doesn't work, then take Thomas. No reason to overthink this.

Isiah Thomas is right there with them

When I saw Kevin McHale was #1 on this list, I stopped reading. He is known as one of the worst GMs in basketball, so how could he be #1 across all sports? Using their formula, I'm surprised Millen wasn't #2!

I would go with Lidstrom. However, my 6-year old daughter would vote for Filppula. She gets so excited when he scores; it's really funny!
