Did Keenan get his job back
-
If everybody is healthy, I'll gladly deal with that issue
-
I'm glad it's not Kindl!
-
First impression - I like the deal. If Bertuzzi can get healthy we get the best available player, outside of Forsberg, for a very reasonable price. Not only that, but he fits our needs exactly. I know it's gamble, but so is any trade deadline aquistion. Only this one didn't involving giving up 3 1st round draft picks.

Calder is an upgrade to our 2nd line, and he provides us with salary cap relief in the off season. Cross was a guy who couldn't even crack the lineup once the playoffs rolled around. These trades are not even comparable.

Blake reminds me of Draper, except with better hands. I don't think he's quite as good defensively, but he's very quick and he gives a lot of effort every shift.
-
Too funny!
-
Probably not, but I'd still like to see some retribution for that.

I thought he didin't look himself these past two games (Edm and Nashville). Still Z playing at 80% is better than just about anybody we have.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
Airborn replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Add me to the list of people happy about this trade. I don't see any downside. Both Calder and Williams are struggling badly this season. Calder just plays on a crappy team, so it makes it that much worse. Both players should benefit from the change in scenery. Worse case scenariio, Calder doesn't pan out. Big deal! It's not like Williams was contributing anyway. Add in the fact that we free up cap space for next year and it makes it even that much better. -
He's put up worse stats in Columbus, not better. His last 2 years in Tampa he average 30 goals and around 60 points.
-
I live in Columbus, so I watch a lot of Blue Jacket games, and while "on paper" it looks like Modin is not worth this much, I can tell you he probably is. He kills penalties, plays on the power play, he's good in the corners, and he can be surprisingly physical. He would have a lot better stats on a different team. I don't think he would have had that much of a problem getting this deal on the open market, and I was surprised more teams weren't looking at him for a rental (maybe they knew Columbus was going to re-sign him).

I thought Pittsburgh was looking for help on the blue line? Still, good move for them (as long as they didn't give up the farm). Roberts will add leadership and grit for a young team going into the playoffs.

This makes Holmstrom's deal look even better. Homer's a better player than Tucker, and we got him for less money.

I saw this segment the other night. These are absolutely brutal! I'm all for no-touch icing; there are enough ways already for a player to get hurt legitimately. Forcing the players to touch (on the icing) adds nothing to the game 99.9% of the time. It's crazy that this rule hasn't been implemented already.

Good to see he's playing well - thank's for the update!

The hit wasn't late, and he didn't blindside him either. Lupul got caught admiring his own pass. Welcome to the NHL!

I think part of what you’re seeing with the Atlanta and Nashville’s moves are their respective GMs overpaying, because they are desperate to draw interest to their hockey clubs. Atlanta ranks 20th in attendance and Nashville ranks 23rd: This despite each club having their best season as a franchise.

He's had a pretty decent year in Hershey (I'm judging purely on stats here). He's averaging right around a point per game.

I haven''t been all that impressed with Langfeld. I agree he was busting his butt, but that doesn't mean he's an NHL quality player. What I don't get with him, is why he didn't try to be more physical. He really could have filled a need there. But since he wasn't hitting, scoring, agitating, or anything else, he really wasn't contributing. Edit: Spelling

You know something, his knee is out in that picture

Thoughts on tonight’s game: 1. Hasek clearly didn’t have his “A†game, and what was with all the wandering? 2. Kronwall clearly left his feet on Lupul hit, but it was still nice to see him play physical. I thought it carried over to the rest of his game; he played really well tonight. 3. I’d like to welcome back Kirk Maltby after a 2+ year absence. Nice to see him getting back to the hitting and agitating. 4. Quiet night for Datsyuk and Zetterberg; they didn’t seem to have any jump at all. 5. Jason Smith is really underrated; give him a lot of credit for playing the top line so tight

The more I think about this trade, the more I don’t think this is an indication of asking prices falling. I don’t think GMs in the league have a very high opinion of this guy. After scoring 33 goals last year, he could only manage a 1-year contract, and it took him until late September to get that. After signing that deal, he’s been awful (10 goals, 27 points), so his value is even lower. Those things considered, it shouldn’t be too surprising he only went for a 5th rounder.
