Way to take what I said completely out of context! For the record, I have no problem with clean hits, whoever they're on. Put in more simple terms; hitting is fine. Let me know if that doesn't make sense to you.

McCarty played 14 minutes a games; was he not an enforcer? Either way, whatever you want to call Neil (enforcer, grinder, whatever) my point is the same. Teams (and the league) have a lot invested in their star players, so it absolutely makes a difference on which players are involved.

There shouldn't be any discussion when an enforcer blind sides a star player with a shoulder to the head?

OK, I finally got to see the clips. Here are my thoughts: 1. The hit was clearly dirty! I don’t care if no penalty was given, I agree with Harold; Neil intentionally hit Drury in the head with his shoulder (he was head hunting). Add the fact that he came from Drury’s blind side and that the puck was no where near Drury, and you have a viciously dirty hit. 2. NN and Lou both made valid points, but ultimately I don’t have a problem with how Buffalo handled it. My feeling is if Ottawa doesn’t want teams going after their star players, then don’t go after theirs. That’s why I view this situation differently than what Quenville did in St. Louis 3. I disagree with anybody who thinks Murray was right in sending out his star players after that happened. As a coach who has been around as long as he has, I’d think he’d have more common sense. 4. Regardless on who was right or wrong, who should be punished (or not), or whether they followed “the code†(or not), what a game! Could you hear the fans going nuts while that was happening? I’d say they were pretty entertained for their money.

He has a chance to be a finalist if he continues his current hot streak through the end of the season and finishes closer to the top in points (say in the top 10). His overall game is as impressive as anyones in the league, so as the points roll in, he will get consideration. I think he will definitely take home the Selke.

I just checked the stats and Lidstrom was plus 4 tonight. Impressive: Especially since he was up against Havlat all night.

Anybody else think this was Hudler's best game as a Wing? I know he didn't score, but this was as good as I've seen him.

Thoughts on 1st period: - That was as poor as I've seen us on defense in awhile (lots of giveaways) - On the goal, Schneider let the forward get behind him (2nd time in 3 games - happened in Dallas too) - Hasek had a very strong period - Datsuk needs to stop giving the puck up in his own zone: that's been an epidemic for him lately - For the little time they were out there, I though the Hudler, Fillpulla, Langfield line was very strong

I'm sure there are a lot of people that would like to see some new blood on top, so there could be a little of that in the article, but I didn't really see anything crazy here. Like a lot of you, I'm happy that we have a challenge to keep us occupied and playing sharp. I really don't even care if we win the division.

Even if he wasn't on a playoff bound team, he's injured (his career is even in doubt) because of concussions. However, I did read that he'd starting skating again, so we'll see.

Where did you get that? I was saying that Perry has more trade value than Hudler.

If it's just Hudler, I'd do it, but like Lou said it must be a 1st rounder and Hudler if they're asking Anaheim for Perry. This sums up my feelings on the matter as well.

Too funny, yet true. There are just some guys you'd rather hate, even if you know you would love them if they played for the Wings.

I liked what the NFL did with the Sunday Night Football; they had a Flex game where they basically took the best alternative from a group of games. There is no reason they couldn't do this with the NHL. In fact, it would be much easier logistically than what they have to do with the NFL, since the games times don't differ as drastically. Speaking of rants about games on TV. Do you realize the Wings vs. Avs is the feature game again this weekend on NBC. My God they don't want to let it (the rivalry) die. Just because his team didn't advance in the playoffs doesn't mean anything. People said the Wings could never win with Yzerman (using the same logic).

Brett Hull had the same reputation coming in, but the leadership in the Wings locker room kept him in check. With all the leaders we have on this team, the guy's attitude is the least of my worries. I'm more conserned with his health and rust, considering he's missed most of the season.

It would take a lot more than that. If he really becomes available, I think it would take a deal similar to Forsberg's to aquire him.

I think the time to move Flip up was a month ago. I like Babcock, but I don't agree with the amount of ice time Flip has been getting. How is he supposed to gain any confidence with 7 minutes of ice time? It's time to put some more responsibility on his shoulders, especially since we're almost guaranteed a playoff spot at this point.

Owen Nolan would a good fit and wouldn't cost as much as some others.

If we face them in the conference finals this year, that could catapult this into a real rivalry. Playoffs are what bring out rivalries, not regular season games.

Makes you wonder how many points he could have had this year if he didn't start out so slow. Can you believe he only had 3 points after 12 games.

Another great game by Zetterberg. I'll say it again, I haven't seen a Wing player this dominant since the year Federov won the heart. Solid effort by Hasek; that stop on Doan was huge! The D looks so calm when he's in net. You can tell they have complete confidence in him. 5 games left against the Preds. Should be fun!
